Abbey Road Pub & Restaurant

Abbey Road is a nice pub on 22nd street, one block from the beach in Virginia Beach, that serves good breakfast and lunch. Dedicated to the Beatles, they take gluten free stuff serious. You can get pretty much everything gluten free, with a gluten free toothpick right in it. They have a gluten free corner in the kitchen, and indicate what's gluten free on the menu. They also say they can make pretty much every dish gluten free (with some obvious exceptions). They did charge me a $1.50 gluten free fee for my naturally gluten free omelet with hash browns. My wife enjoyed her gluttony eggs Benedict. It's nice to find a place that takes gluten free serious. Looking at the crowd on a random non beach Sunday morning, it's a local favorite.

Shout out to the restaurant and our server Jill who effortlessly accommodated our party of 18 at the last minute! Not only did they welcome us with open arms, they served us delicious food. The gluten free selection with a dedicated gluten free fryer goes above and beyond. This quaint restaurant checks all the boxes!

So delicious! We both have celiac and came for breakfast. I was able to get French toast!!! My bacon was extra crispy just like I asked for , potatoes were delicious and hubbys omlet was loaded ! Will definitely come back next time we are in the area!

I look forward to visiting here every year. One of the best menus for GF options and have never had any kind of cross contamination issues. I had the black and blue burger and French onion soup. Both were amazing.

Everything seems safe as far as I can tell but only did 4 out of 5 cause I don't know what happens in kitchen. My husband and I had some burger and mine did have GF marker.

I didn't ask about kitchen practices, but our server was very knowledgeable. I had breakfast today. I don't remember the name of the order, but I had scrambled eggs, homefries, steak and fruit with gluten-free toast. Let me just tell you, after eating GF so long, I was so impressed by the toast that I questioned again if it was truly gluten-free! It definitely was. Menu is clearly marked. Super cute Beatles theme too. Live music regularly. Really nice place.

I LOVED this place. Very knowledgeable and accommodating for gf. The protocols they follow are spelled out clearly on the menu. More than half the menu can be done gf. It was the first time in over a decade that I had a deep fried seafood platter. We even had the dark chocolate brownie sundae for dessert. It was amazing without being overly sweet. I highly recommend this place.

It’s the best place we found so far for true GF options. 2/3 of the menu is Gluten free and they have a dedicated fryer. You can try fried shrimp which is really good. The waiter was not perfectly aware of all the options but will inquire in the chicken if needed. For drinks, we tried the strawberry daiquiri which was not labeled GF but was ok for me. The waiter brought the mix for it so we could validate if it is ok. Beware of the O’Mission beer which is labeled GF on the menu! It is actually a Gluten reduced beer so unsafe for celiacs.

We went on Thursday night. Last day of vacation and 2 time going out to eat. We were eating packed food or dinner from Harris Teeter (TGI Kevin meals). We love places where the celiac can feel normal eating out including ciders on draft. Felt safe. Food was delicious and tons of variety to GF. He got the Rueben with fries (yeah dedicated dryer!) and Buffalo wings (we were bummed they were out of potato skins). I’m not celiac and got mahi mahi and broccoli. Both great options for all.

We had a great meal at Abbey Road — the fried shrimp was so good! Our server was working her last shift before leaving for college but we were still well taken care of. It was quite busy, and we had a large party. The waitress came out with the large tray of food and in the other hand was my daughter’s plate - to prevent cross-contamination! Another guest in our party had ordered the same thing, so I was nervous but they had a special marker in the GF bun to identify it. My daughter loved the food, especially the sweet potato fries. She said the GF bun crumbled so it made eating the chicken sandwich hard. She had no symptoms after our visit.

Nearly their entire menu is GF! I was so excited and my non GF family was excited for me too. GF food is clearly marked when it comes out with a GF food marker. The staff repeats that it’s GF when they place it on the table too. We ordered GF fried calamari for the table and at the end of the lunch we all shared the GF brownie sundae (and my non GF picky family loved it). I ordered the GF fried shrimp and sweet potato fries. Nice variety for everyone and It was all delicious! The staff was friendly and efficient. Wonderful experience - our new stop for every meal when we are in town.

Whenever we are in town, we stop by daily. The French Dip is amazing and 75% of the menu can be made GF upon request. The service is quick, only 10-20 minutes for the food to arrive. Abbey Road has its own parking lot (free to park there as long as you are eating!). It is also right next to many shops and the beach. They have a separate kitchen space and a dedicated fryer. I am very sensitive to cross-contamination, and I have not once had the slightest reaction to the outstanding food here.

Sat outside on the patio tonight. Great place for those who experience celiac disease! Do be aware that there’s an up charge if you pay by card! Dedicated fryer, and all of my GF items were clearly marked. We started our meal by splitting a crock of GF French onion soup. I then had the fried oysters with sautéed vegetables. Hubby had the spicy/New Orleans style, seafood jambalaya. We finished the meal off with the GF brownie/ice cream sundae (the only GF dessert item they carry). Food was great!! Entire establishment is covered in Beatlemania dedicated artwork. Two murals nearest yo the parking lot as well.

Celiac I was so excited to read they had a dedicated fryer & grill for GF. We ate there twice. I haven’t had fried shrimp & fries in a restaurant for 2 yrs! Giving the shrimp about 3 1/2⭐ Don’t get me wrong they weren’t bad but they could have been a little better. That’s if u like a lil more breading. Both evenings were nice so we ate outside.

Although they offer a wide variety of GF options, this place is a giant flop. We got into town late and this was one of few options open. Despite the mixed reviews, we decided to roll the dice. We ordered the potato skins, a steak and the jerk chicken salad. The potato skins are the only thing we finished. The rest wasn’t worth eating, let alone the high price tag that comes with touristy places like this.

We were disappointed after reading all of the positive recs. We were not expecting so many fried options. No GF issues, but I think it was a one and done for us.

Eh. I drawn in by the Beatles theme and the reviews on Google discussing the wide array of GF options. 1- the Beatles memorabilia is great. But it stops there. 2 - they do have GF options, but the pasta is cheap corn and the bread is 1 slice. 🤔🙄 3- the eggs were rubbery, the toast (1 slice) was plain, didn't even butter it,nor offer me any, the "seasoned" potatoes were the cheap bagged kind you buy at WM and tasted of freezer burn. If you are a Beatles fan like me, go for a drink and to look around, but eat elsewhere.

Womp womp… I was expecting this place to be the best place in Virginia Beach to eat. I think so many people have just come here because of the Beetles theme. I really don’t see how this was a 5 star. Ok so maybe it’s the choice of food I made or maybe it’s because I had Chix on the Beach the day before and this place just didn’t compare. Food Choices; app: potato skins oily, soggy, and flavorless I guess you can say this is what started to leave a bad taste in my mouth ALL PUN intended. Next the soup: French onion, this was the highlight of the meal great flavor, gluten free bread inside just low on onions. Main Course: Seafood Jambalaya, flavor was decent had good spices but rice was under cooked. After this I didn’t go for desert. Wife had the Jerked Chicken which tasted more like blackened chicken with no spice at all. The only real positive thing I can say is the staff was great our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. I would not recommend this place to a friend.

This was by far one of the best meals I have had in a long time!! The food was cooked to perfection and left me satisfied!

I came here due to the number of reviews on this app. There are plenty of options on the menu that are marked gluten-free or that can be modified to be gluten-free. However they do state that cross-contamination can be an issue. So just be very mindful when you order certain things.
