Naturally gluten free, arepas are a great option whether or not you are on a GF diet. This is a nice place to go out to eat with other people so they don't feel like they are compromising to accommodate a GF diet. Food seems a little expensive for what it is, but everything is tasty. They do serve beer, but all the food is 100% gluten free.

OMG this place was Amazing!!! I had the fried shrimp arepa and also the dessert arepa. And they left off the sauce to keep it dairy free.

The fried chicken Arepa was amazing! (I love a chance to get GF fried chicken!) It was easier to deconstruct and eat with a fork and knife, but still delicious. The beef empanadas were gigantic and very juicy. The asada negro was beautiful, tasty, and a work of art. Cafe Con Leche and arepitas were a lovely way to end the meal! Everything is 100% gluten free, and served piping hot!

Boisterous but homey! Gluten free arepas are my new favorite thing ever. Empanadas are like something forbidden to celiacs, but somehow there is a loophole

The entire restaurant is GF. empanadas, arepas, you name it. They only had cans of GF beer but a couple of flavors. And a full bar, so I had wine. I had a shrimp arepa - cant remember the name. It was excellent. There is bar seating and a huge patio out front. You order at the bar and grab a number for your table. We sat at the bar and so had full service. Cant wait to go back and try everything.

10/10 recommend. I remember when their first restraint opened in Sweet Auburn Market. I have never been dissatisfied why my arepa, empanada, chips, whatever I randomly decided to try that day. I have been eating at their various locations for since they opened almost 10 years ago. I no longer live in ATL, but my husband already knows we have to stop there every time we are visiting the city.

Arepa Mia has been one of my favs since before Lizbet (owner/chef) even had a restaurant. She used to come to the Sweet Auburn Curb Market on Fridays with a hot plate and cooler full of pre-prepared areas to warm up and sell. Arepas are Venezuelan sandwiches - BUT the sandwich "bread" is made of a gluten free corn masa. Arepa Mia uses only high quality ingredients - locally-sourced, organic veggies (when possible) and meats (Riverview Farms, Brasstown Beef), and imported cheeses from Venezuela. Empanadas and other GF entrees are also on the menu as are freshly made plantain and yucca chips (served with a smooth, dip-able white Venezuelan cheese. The entire restaurant is naturally gluten free. Liz's guasacara sauce is amazing! She also has a traditional raw sugar cane beverage and a freshly made tropical fruit juice every day (passion fruit juice, guava juice, etc.). My favorites are her vegetarian arepa (black beans, sautéed local veggies, Venezuelan cheese), asada negra (beef roast cooked in red wine and raw sugar cane with onions), and the pernil (slow roasted pork with onions served with guasacara sauce). Arepa Mia now has two permanent locations - one in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market and another in Avondale Estates with a huge covered patio for outside dining. Update June 2023 - still one of my favorite places to eat. Arepa Mia has some of the most amazing food in Atlanta!

What a fantastic experience. I have celiac disease, so the 100% gluten-free was huge. When it comes to facilities that are not entirely gluten-free, my wife and I have to focus on how safe they are, whether they do gluten-free preparation, etc. But at a completely GF facility, we get to focus entirely on the food… And it was delicious. We had the Tamara‘s shrimp arepa and a Venezuelan fried chicken. Best of all was the arepa, which had a really good texture and did not just fall to pieces (like a lot of GF bread-mimic foods do). And we had the arepitas appetizer. All delicious! Highly recommend Arepa Mia - and only wish they would open a new restaurant in my hometown.

The ‘La Sureña’ arepa is so tasty—GF fried chicken! Food is really good, just a tad bit pricey for arepas. However, it’s a big arepa, so you really only need one where many other restaurants you would need two. Will definitely return! Note that they are closed on both Sundays and Mondays. Oh, and be sure to check out the Second Life thrift store across the street that benefits shelter animals while you wait!

Two stars because it is 100% GF. I told the women at the register that our party would like some garlic sauce because it is our favorite. We got what looked like a tablespoon when our food arrived. My 12 year old went in to ask for more garlic sauce the woman looked at her and said, “What do you want?” When she asked for garlic sauce the women sighed and rolled her eyes. Yikes. We won’t be back I paid $75 for three people to have lunch. I gave a 20% tip. Go to Arepita Cafe. They are the nicest people and bring bottles of their sauces to the table.

Absolutely delicious food, we ate outside. Their jasmine rice and empanadas are delicious. Everything on the menu is gluten free (besides some drinks) so no worries of cross contamination, this is the best experience I have had from a GF restaurant and there is no better feeling than knowing your food is safe.
