I've been here a couple of times. The salads were fine, but I wouldn't trust the GF pasta. Maybe the kitchen just didn't take care, but life was not pleasant afterwards.

We got off to a poor start when, after I asked for their gf menu, the waitress returned without it and asked us if we were ready to order.

The menu does caution that this is not a dedicated gf kitchen. That said, there were I believe three salads, three pasta dishes, two chicken dishes, a salmon dish, and creme brûlée on the gf menu. I chose a pasta, which for gf was quite good.

So glad to find Brio in Bham! This place is even better than the Houston location -- if you can imagine that. The hostess reassured me that they serve gluten-free meals all the time and take the same precautions as their other locations to avoid cross contamination. The waiter did offer bread, so I took 1 star off for that , but the kitchen handled the meal perfectly. I had the GF pasta pomodoro and my fellow GF dining companion had the GF pasta brio.

I worked here briefly. None of the "gluten free" options are safe. All of the "gluten free" pasta is cooked in the same water at the same time as the gluten pasta. The cook uses the same spatula all night on all dishes, so even the risotto is contaminated. There are no special protocols for gluten free meals at all, even if it is an allergy. Additionally, servers are supposed to know which items are gluten free/dairy free/peanut free and they just take a guess. I sent people away who asked for gluten free due to an allergy or Celiac because I knew nothing from the kitchen here was safe. As a Celicac, I never ate anything from the kitchen. The management will insist that their gluten free options are indeed gluten free because they don't know what gluten is. The grilled chicken is okay unless the grill cook uses the pasta spatula to flip it, which he often does. Even the strawberry salad uses contaminated candied pecans.

My daughter worked here, they cook the GF pasta in the same water as regular pasta. Avoid if you're serious about GF.
