They had a GF menu but after a few questions I realized anything fried (eg Nachos) are not GF because they are not done in a separate fryer. The server was super nice and knowledgeable but there were only a few things to n the GF menu that don’t have cross contamination. If that’s not an issue, the GF menu had a lot on it.

Went on Friday during a drive from PA to NC. Yes, there is a GF menu, quite long, and a note saying they have a shared fryer BUT as a previous reviewer said, they have a separate air fryer for GF fries. I had the loaded fries, which were delicious. Service was friendly and overall it was a good experience.

Loved this place! They provided me with a gluten-free menu, and the waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. I immediately homed in on the French fries on the gf menu and asked how they make them. She said they cook them in a dedicated gf air fryer.
You know how a celiac gets when a restaurant can make fries safely for us!
So I ordered fries for the table, and they came with a trio of dipping sauces. The fries could have used a couple more minutes in the air fryer, but they were still delicious.
For my entree, I had a grilled chicken sandwich on a gf bun that was very tasty.
I wish they offered a bottled gluten-free beer, but otherwise it was an excellent experience.

Not sure where I went wrong, ordered off the gluten free menu (ribs and fries) and was told the fries were fried separately. I couldn’t even finish my meal because 30 minutes into dinner I was having a severe reaction and got sick. It looks like they have a lot of options, just didn’t work for my body I guess.

Ask for the separate GF menu, which has a good variety of selections including beers and ciders. That menu says their fryer isn’t dedicated, so I opted for the side salad. Good shrimp tacos and manager brought out the food herself. Great stop along the highway in a cute college town.

The food was delicious. I thought I would be okay because they seemed knowledgeable and had separate menus. They said they prepped food in separate places as well. I ended up pretty sick with gluten contamination symptoms for a week after.

They have a GF Menu. I had the BBQ Burger 🍔 with grilled onions and French Fries made separately in an air fryer and it was delicious. I just wish they had a couple of GF Beers available. They do have several ciders to choose from.

Staff is very nice and knowledgeable about gluten! He helped my 12 yr old daughter get more confidence about asking for gluten free. And did her French Frys separately so there was no cross contamination!

Gluten and dairy free. Terrific GF bun. Bacon GF as well. They have a dedicated air fryer for GF french fries that were great. Will was our waiter and he went above and beyond.

Had a great experience and felt lucky to find a gf place while on vacation. First, they had a separate gf menu that spelled out any cross contamination (the fried foods!). And it was a full menu not just we are using a gf roll for the burger. I informed our server and he was very respectful about it, and made sure the kitchen staff understood thr situation. Had a lovely NY strip with mashed potatoes and a side salad. I would go to this restaurant again!

We are looking at JMU for our celiac daughter. This place came highly recommended, so we gave it a shot. The service was a little slow to start, but our server explained that someone had called out, and we were totally fine with the delay. Once we explained our food allergies and celiac the server told us what could and could not be prepared safely. Their fryer is cross contaminated and they are super clear about it, so we stayed away from fried items. We have three GF family members: one person had a bacon cheese burger with a gluten free bun and mashed potatoes…and the other two had chicken caprese with a polenta cake that was very enjoyable. We value safety over variety in terms of dining out, and this place totally delivered. Communicative wait staff and kitchen staff makes all the difference. We will definitely be back again.

They have a full gluten free menu with a lot of items. I had the French dip & it was awesome! First one I’ve had since I was diagnosed over 20 years ago. My wife ate the gluten free shrimp tacos & they were delicious as well! They had quite a few ciders on tap also. I had the Bold Rock Honeycrisp & it was good. They were very knowledgeable about gf & told me they didn’t have a dedicated fryer so I’d stay away from anything fried to be safe. Overall it was very good and great atmosphere! I’d recommend it & would eat there again!

We had a great experience here! They were very knowledgeable and ensured they took all precautions to prevent cross contamination. They baked the fries separately for my kids instead of in their fryer and the gf menu is large and has great variety. Service was great. Would definitely recommend and visit again when in the area!

Dedicated gluten free menu with a wide variety of sandwiches, entree, salads, sides, even a dessert! There is not a dedicated fryer but the kitchen will bake fries and clean the kitchen accordingly to avoid cross contamination. The food was fantastic!

Visited for lunch. The staff member I spoke with was very knowledgeable about celiac and understood what precautions to take. He explained that the fryer was not a dedicated fryer. I got the gyro burger with gf bun with a side salad - absolutely amazing. I also got a brownie sundae that was gf! I ate with no issues and did not end up sick! I will definitely visit again!

Delicious food and a dedicated gluten free menu. No dedicated fryer, but the server was very knowledgeable about cross-contamination. The gluten free brownie was absolutely amazing!
The gluten free buns for the burgers were some of the best I have had at a restaurant. Their burgers are amazing. They did say they could bake the fries if we wanted to avoid cross contamination.

We are here for dinner on New Year's Day, one of few GF options open for dinner this day. They have a GF menu and the staff are very knowledgable and even offered items that were not specifically listed in the menu. We had burgers with GF buns, and they baked wings and fries for us to be safe. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

We often go down to Verona va to visit the Large antique mall. We stopped in Harrisonburg va for lunch at the Capital Ale House. Let me say this place is ammmazing. They have a nice sized gluten free menu. And even though they have a shared fryer, they will bake the items on request. The baked fries were some of the best I ever had. The Smokehouse burger(minus onion straws) is the bomb. They lose a star for using Udi’s buns. They are the worst in the industry, but the good outweighs the bad— at Capital Ale House Harrisonburg.
Yes
Had pass on on this one as they also use canola oil.
Burger was good with a gluten frer bun. Nice gluten free menu. They warned me that fries were fried in contaminated oil. Good service.
This place is not safe for celiac. They've gotten me glutened multiple times. I had a manager tell me fries were safe and done in a gf fryer only to find out after 2 years of eating them that they were never safe. Then was directed to mussels which are on the gf menu and was just informed no mussels are gf despite being on gf menu. If you have celiac disease stay far away. If you're only sensitive, their food is delicous; enjoy. 5heyre very ignorant for gf and celiac

Has GF menu, nice atmosphere. GF bun was excellent, not the tyical, dry sand a lo gf breads are like.
Our server worked here for 4 years and had never heard of them having a GF soft pretzel as another person shared (the whole reason we came here). They do not have hardly any vegetarian GF options; I got the steak salas without the steak. Server seemed annoyed that I asked questions about ingredients. Not awful, but not really recommended.
Yes
Staff was very helpful and checked on questions I had. My husband was very happy with the gluten beer options. The fryer is NOT dedicated, but they are up front about it, which I appreciate.
Yes
lots of options. gluten free rolls and even gluten free soft pretzel. I have eaten here many times and never gotten sick.
Fantastic gf salad options! we had the ahi tuna and steak salads both were cooked to perfection. Staff knows about gluten free options as well as what dressings paired well with our salads. Our waiter helped us decide what to order and was very friendly as were the hostesses. Service was fast, restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. They had a number of gf alcoholic beverage options and a good sized gluten free menu. Overall great experience!
Yes
I ordered a simple hamburger with onions and tomato from the gluten-free menu. I was brought a regular hamburger bun. I asked if it was the gluten free bun, and the waitress was like, whoops. She took the meal back to the kitchen to have it redone. Good news: they comped my meal. Bad news: my lips and throat swelled up a bit after eating the burger. Either the cook just moved the contaminated burger from wheat bun to gluten free bun, or there was something in the bun that i reacted to.
Yes
very good gf menu!
Great place! Burger was delicious.

Delicious lamb burger.. gf bun was your typical but food was really good, super healthy options. Service was great, prices decent, good atmosphere..
Pretty extensive gluten free menu. All burgers come with gluten free buns. Great list of gluten free beers and ciders. Food was excellent!

OMG! This place made me feel normal again. They have a completely separate Gluten free menu. (Ask for it) I can't have gluten or milk products. The waitress was so accommodating. All of the questions we asked, if she didn't know the answer to, she was more than willing to find out. This is our new favorite place. Seriously, check it out!

Food was awesome! Great dedicated gluten free menu, and a separate fryer! Lots of options other than just sandwiches/burgers with a gluten free bun, although I did opt for the Mushroom and Gruyère burger, and I’m glad I did. I don’t typically eat burgers just because I’m not a fan of buns but this burger was the best I’ve ever had, the meat was HOT when brought out to the table and the flavor was like nothing I’d had before. I loved the broccolini as a choice of side and my husband ordered the loaded fries as an appetizer. Everything was delicious, I wish I had saved room for dessert, they offer a chocolate brownie with ice cream. Nice to see a true gluten free dessert option!
