Great experience at the Kihei location. The server was knowledgeable and was able to share measures taken to prevent cross contamination. The owner came out while I was ordering and explained his daughter has celiac disease, hence why the staff are so well versed in their GF offerings. I had the fish tacos - delicious and big portions!

Good experience at first, but then I got sick!! Obviously got “glutened.” I ordered the fish tacos, their most popular dish, and confirmed it was gluten free upon ordering and upon arrival of food. But after finishing meal and arrival back at hotel, ended up with major GI symptoms.

This is my favorite restaurant on Maui! It’s laid-back and relaxed—no table service, but the focus is on great food! There are a few gluten-free options—perfectly-seasoned fish plates with rice and their incredible slaw. Portions are generous, the food is remarkably good, and you can’t beat the price-very affordable for a memorable meal. Never had a reaction here!

June 2023: Update: Ww ate here again this summer and my daughter got a poke bowl. She said it was SO good. She is very sensitive to cc and she had no reaction from the food here.

June 2022: We ate at both Coconut's locations during our trip and both were very accommodating. Tell the cashier you have celiac and they will make a note on the order so the kitchen knows. At this location my daughter (who has celiac) ordered the spicy poke bowl and she really liked it. She is very sensitive and did not get sick.

I’m not a big fish person but the fish tacos were amazing and they put them on foil to keep the celiac tacos separate!

I’ve eaten here several times with no problem. I ordered the fish tacos as takeout and decided to test with my Nima Sensor. Unfortunately it showed gluten was found. I called and spoke to the manager. She was very understanding and said they actually have a Nima Sensor at the restaurant. She said she was going to talk to her kitchen staff and she did credit my credit card. I’ll try again sometime as I love their food. UPDATE- I went back a second time and the manager remembered me calling in. This time they took extra precaution and my fish tacos tested safe with my Nima Sensor. Make sure you insist they take the necessary steps to prevent cross contamination.

Safe space for someone with celiac and totally delicious! When ordering, they knew what celiac was and said they prep meals for those with celiac completely separately. They also came out on a different coloured plate. We ordered the poke and fish taco bowls and both were amazing!! No symptoms at all so it was a safe experience for me! Proceeds of your meal also go to the humane society so that was a extra perk.

You NEED to eat here. Nice staff, quick service, and the best meal of my entire vacation. The fish tacos are amazing and a must get! I feel very safe eating here because they cooked my tacos separate on foil. They said “celiac” when they brought out my tacos and my meal was on different colored plates so I knew I was safe. Order at the front counter, and they will bring you your food. I told them I was celiac and she said they could accommodate me. They can make quite a few items gluten free. We had the pork tacos and spicy ahi poke. Both were excellent. Will be back!

Food was pretty good overall. I ordered fish tacos on two separate occasions and pork tacos and poke and I never had any issues. The pork was awesome! I feel pretty confident eating here but I always did take-out and ate at home just in case. If you are extremely sensitive to gluten, I would be cautious about the potential for cc.
