Good omelets and good gluten free pancakes.
When ordering I showed the server that I wanted GF banana & pecan pancake with caramel drizzled on it with eggs over easy and sausage by pointing it on the menu then I pointed my finger showing him that it has to be GF. He nodded. My husband ordered the same thing but his weren't GF and he had omelette and bacon. When our food arrived the server gave me my husband's plate but my husband told him that it was my plate so he gave it to me. When I got my plate and I had a funny feeling that my plate was not GF so I had to ask the server if my plate was GF he was confused. I told him that I had already told him I wanted GF meal and told him that he will need to get me a new plate with GF order and also that he need to make sure that my eggs and sausage are also new because of cross contamination. He nodded apologetically, took my plate and told the cook what happened. The cook tried to put my eggs and sausage on a new plate and I saw the server correcting him and gesturing the cross contamination to him. The cook was not happy. Few minutes later, my GF plate arrived and I had to ask the server if my eggs and sausages were new he said, "Yes. I told the cook that the pancakes had touched your eggs and sausage and you would still get sick so he made you GF pancake and cooked you new eggs and sausages." I don't think the eggs and sausages were new tho because I feel sick now. :-/ I feel like the cooker didn't take the server and I seriously.
Today i was eating gluten free pancakes with bananas, bacon and overall eggs. They were very good and i recommend this place all celiac :) Service was exellent too. Thanks Coco's!
We went to the Cocos in Culver City but didn't end up eating there because they didn't have a gluten free menu and the staff didn't seem to really even know what gluten was. When we sat down the waiter said the only gluten free item on the entire menu was the gluten free pancakes (which were not listed on the menu, just verbalized by the waiter). We didn't feel safe eating there so we left.
I went here for dinner because I heard they had a GF menu. I might consider coming here for breakfast because their GF breakfast menu is bigger and could be a better bet for safety. There were only three options for GF lunches and dinners. I had the grilled chicken and it was overly salty and was not something I would order again. I told the server that my item had to be GF and that I had a medical condition. I could tell that she had no idea what I was talking about because she responded back to me with some up beat comments about eating healthy. It was as if I had just told her that I was on a low salt diet. My chicken arrived with grilled vegetables, which I had asked for, and rice pilaf that I had not asked for. The rice pilaf isn't listed on the GF menu, so I sent the rice back in favor of the mashed potatoes that were on the GF menu. The mashed potatoes tasted strongly like fake butter and I would not order them again. If you've never been to a Cocos then you should know that they are a family restaurant. Most of the people eating here for dinner were elderly.
Everyone here is amazing! I'm SOOOO ALLERGIC & celiac and Late at night John has served me several times and I never got sick! Their GF MENU is huge and I'm eating tonight with Donna & manager Carlos came over and specifically had a talk with the kitchen about cross-contamination! These guys rock! Luv love luv it!
the food was good, but double check your order! I got all the way home--across the city--with my two young children, only to find they'd shorted me an entire meal. yes, I should've checked the order, but they have me the correct amount of drinks and the correct number of takeout containers, so I thought it was right...turns out they split one order into two containers and never even put in the order for the second kids meal. I usually wouldn't leave a bad review for that, because the food WAS good, but when I called they didn't even try to help; she just kept telling me "if you come back, we'll get that for you" which I could not do, since by the time I got home, it was past my children's bed time already... Anyway, check your food before you leave!
pancakes are pretty good.
Been here many times they have a page on there menu that is gluten free with pancakes and eggs, sausage, bacon, and hash browns. They will even make smiley face pancakes for the kids. They also have lunch and dinner. We have never felt contaminated when leaving.
Good gluten free pancakes
They have a good sized GF breakfast menu, and best of all was the pancakes! They tasted so good I was worried they weren't GF at first. The waiter brought them out wearing plastic gloves and gave me my own bottle of syrup, so it seemed like they were making an effort to keep mine separate. So nice to have a place to go for breakfast.
Good Gluten Free pancakes
No longer carries gluten free menu. Was on vacation and very disappointed info was outdated and wasted time going there instead of somewhere had gluten free options
This particular Coco's is poorly run and very inconsistent, but it does have delicious gluten free pancakes and certain options that can be modified to be gluten free. I get the avocado shrimp salad, but be very sure they've given you corn tortillas strips and not wontons!
The Central Ave Coco's used to be a place where the staff paid attention to your needs. The few gluten-free foods varied over the years, but I never got sick because they listened to me. However, for my birthday last year, they changed their system and had a guy who seemed to be a maitre d'. (Why? Coco's?) Anyway, the menu had changed, and I was trying to work with the waitress about my gluten-free needs. She was trying, but the maitre d' was dictating what he thought I needed and overruling anything the poor waitress tried to do to help. Also, he didn't go back and ask the cooks when he wasn't sure, so I finally had to just get a plain steak and potato worth $$$. The steak came out raw, raw, raw. So, I complained, and he grabbed the WHOLE PLATE to take it back for a recook. In a near empty restaurant, this took over 10 minutes. My family finished before I even took a second bite. This USED to be a good restaurant. I contacted the company with a complaint, but of course, they never responded. Now, I refuse to step inside.
Terrible. I ordered the "gluten free combo" it came with wheat pancakes!!!!!!! We left there is no remake when I have the food in my mouth and luckily am a chef so I can taste the flavor of wheat and spit it out! Never again. It was also very dirty.
Only 3 items listed gluten free but only one was a salad
Now carries gluten free pancakes
