I ate here two nights in a row while vacationing in Key West. Definitely one of my favorites! Gluten free items are clearly marked on the menu and the staff are helpful and knowledgable. I had the swordfish and snapper and both were delicious. I had no issues at all. I avoid eating out places that do not have a dedicated gf kitchen as I have had many issues with cross contamination. Traveling is very difficult but have found Key West to have several safe places for me to eat. I will definitely visit Conch Republic again in future travels to Key West! I highly recommend to anyone with celiac.

We are here on vacation with my daughter with Celiacs. They have gluten free items marked on the menu. We initially asked about the peel and eat shrimp which is not labeled gluten free and our waiter was not very confident in the answer he gave us. We spoke to a manager who informed us that the peel-and-eat shrimp are prepared in an area with potential cross-contamination. We opted for the blackened shrimp which came with rice, mixed veggies (carrots, green beans, and broccoli). We also asked for them to leave off the blackening seasoning as my daughter does not prefer her food too spicy. My daughter really enjoyed her meal and she did not get sick.

The menu has clearly marked with GF items. I don’t eat fish or seafood so options were limited. I got the jerk spiced chicken. It was really good and the waiter stated that the kitchen prepares separately and no cross contamination.

Menu is labeled with GF items. We had the conch chowder on a rainy afternoon. Spicy but good!
GF options limited but marked and good food!!

The food was phenomenal. I did not get sick. However, I had little confidence in our server. He was so impatient when I asked that the manager and chef be notified. They were not notified as they did not come to our table. He then ignored me the rest of the time, focusing on my husband. It was really bizarre. I’d go again but a different server.

Great spot to eat while looking out on the marina. GF options are clearly marked on menu. Fish is caught in the morning and delivered for the day. We were fortunate to see the guy unloading them. I highly recommend the snapper.

Highly recommend this place! I’m celiac and I got the blackened shrimp! The key lime sauce was so delicious and the shrimp was amazing as well! Although you don’t get a lot of shrimp for what you pay, I did not get sick and I really enjoyed my meal!

Ordered the conch chowder, island salad and the blackened grouper which was the Sunday special. Gluten free was marked on the menu and the waitress went and talked to the kitchen when I asked about the Sunday special. The chowder was okay. The island salad was really tasty and the grouper was amazing. I had zero reactions after eating here.

GF marked on menu but mostly just for fish and salads which you can get just about anywhere. Prices are higher which is to be expected on an island, tourist area. Food tastes alright.

Ate here several times while in town — they have GF items marked on their menu and I felt very safe eating here. Had the yellowtail snapper, Caribbean lobster, Mahi, and oysters here. The sides were Caribbean rice, mashed potatoes and veggies. Tasty and safe!

I went with what the other reviewers recommended and had the snapper. The server also recommended that as the best GF option - it was wonderful! Added in a few tropical drinks and it was a lovely meal for a super sensitive celiac, whom never eats lot! I could tell I ate out the next day but only minimally - I would highly recommend this establishment!

An absolute MUST in Key West! Our waitress made me feel very comfortable while ordering, assuring me they understood what Celiac was. I had the snapper… omg… SO delicious. Fish is locally caught and I truly can’t hype this place up enough. While their GF list is limited, I can’t wait to go back and try their other gluten free items!

Our server was helpful and happy to let the kitchen know my order was GF for celiac. She also said the peel and eat Red Royal shrimp special appetizer was not near any gluten items in the kitchen but she’d flag it just the same. We had mahi-mahi and snapper. Both were very nicely seasoned and cooked beautifully.

We usually skip this place when we're in KW, but decided we wanted some seafood. Well, the seafood is limited for gluten free. Steamed clams were NOT gluten free? I ended up with a few stone crab claws; which were delicious, but that's all I got. Service was ok, but gluten free options are quite limited. WHY the steamed clams aren't gluten free could not be deciphered even upon us asking.

I have never been so sick in my life after eating at a restaurant before. There are only a few gluten free items on their already very limited menu so I settled on pork chops. They were okay, my husband didn’t care for them. As I was ordering, I tried to tell the waiter about my celiac disease and in the middle of telling me, he literally just walked away. That should have been my sign not to eat but I did. Cross contamination at the highest here. They just want to bang out as much food in as little time as possible and do not take any precautions. I will not be returning.

This was by far both mine and my husband (not gluten free) favorite meal while visiting Key West. I got the blackened yellow snapper dinner and my husband got the blackened swordfish dinner. We were both so impressed that everything including the vegetables were SO flavorful. The blackened rub they use is super flavorful and not hot which was a delicious surprise. It also came with a chimichurri sauce that seemed a little thicker than normal chimichurri and I was even dipping my mashed potatoes in it. The vegetables were carrots and green beans with little broccoli florets sprinkled in. We were so impressed that so much thought went into each piece of the dinner we were already talking about eating here again. It's got open air dining and we were right on the water so the atmosphere was great as well. It's a little on the pricier side, but it's absolutely worth every penny!

Reviews and pictures from comments indicated there were much more GF options than in actuality. However, for what I ordered (conch chowder and snapper dinner) they were absolutely delicious, no reactions and waitress made sure to denote that I was celiac for the kitchen. Also huge portions!
Yes
Enjoyed the GF conch chowder and salad. Other GF items also marked on the menu.
If you are a fish lover, this is a must. Fabulous area next to the historic seaport and great atmosphere. Lots of food! We had it for lunch the next day too.
Yes
The menu clearly marks what their GF options unfortunately for me majority is seafood which I am also allergic too. That being said I ordered a blackened chicken sandwich sans bun and mashed potatoes and had no reaction. It was delicious I would have ate two more (I was starving don’t judge me!). Dessert options were limited but Kermits Key Lime Pie House place is right across the street and they have GF key lime desserts!
Yes
Have eaten here many times on our key west trips - never disappoints! Menu notated with gf options and have never gotten sick/had an issue. Food is amazing!
Yes
Great seafood. But no GF bread or anything like that.
Amazing tasting food - very fresh. Waiters seemed quite knowledgeable. Ate here twice in one day and had no reaction at all. Items are labeled gf. Some appetizers aren't listed as gf because the appetizer comes with crackers on side and some menu items not listed as gf can be tailored to be gf but you have to ask your waiter. Seasonings were gf, also. Great drinks! Great location! I really don't want to try any place else
Menu was clearly marked there were multiple options including their conch chowder, which was delicious.
The server was very aware! The menu is clearly marked and there are a ton of choices!!! The conch chowder and mahi mahi were amaaazing!

The only place I visited in Key West where I could have conch chowder. Several choices, they do it well.
Yes
If you have celiac do not eat here!!! They do not understand Gf food prep and nothing is safe to eat. All food is grilled and cooked on the same surfaces.
