Amazing service! Wait staff knowledgeable and reassuring when I said I was celiac. Best clam chowder I've ever had.

Ate at the new bar area next to Doogers. They have the same menu but I prefer the atmosphere of the original restaurant. Menu is great, they pan fry fish so you can get a lot of items gf! There was one thing that was a concern - my husband was accidentally given the wrong meal and when he returned it to a server, they gave it directly to the customer who had ordered it. After giving it to the wrong customer, I think they should have made the original customer a whole new meal, not being able to guarantee that the meal hadn’t been touched. That would be a concern for cross-contamination and general germs. But in general we love Doogers and will definitely return, but probably just to the original establishment.

I'm not sure if I just got bad waitress. But she was rude and did not know what gluten free options were available. Initially, she said only the clam chowder was and I asked her to double check with the kitchen. She then said they could do a grilled fish but no sides. Was incredibly disappointed with the service and over pricing of everything.

Quite a few GF options, we ate here twice during our 3 day trip to Seaside and both times the staff was very knowledgeable about their GF options and were happy to look into ingredients of what they didn’t know about. I panicked for a second when there was bread on the plate of my Celiac 13 year old’s dinner but then the waitress let me know if was GF bread!

The waiter was great. He was able to tell me exactly what was okay for me and what to avoid. They are able to use a gluten free breading for the seafood and they even replaced the garlic toast for a piece of gluten free bread. Their fries are no gluten free but there are other choices.

Delicious gluten free razor clams! Anything that is breaded in house can be breaded gluten free and pan fried. Our server was very knowledgeable (and delightful), and the kitchen automatically switched out the garlic bread for gf bread which I hadn't know to ask for. Very good experience!

I tried pan seared fish (from fish and chips, but the chips were replaced by a baked potato) as well as the clam chowder and side salad with raspberry dressing. I asked about the hot cocoa, and they were very good about checking it and noticed it said may contain wheat so I didn't risk it. The food was very good and the staff was very kind and accommodating to my questions. All was safe, no tummy problems.

We love this place! So many things I can eat and fairly knowledgeable staff. That being said, I would not recommend for true celiac, but for people with intolerance and ok with cross-contaminated, it is really good. (Tater tots and clam chowder is good to go ;-)

My husband and I had dinner here based on the positive reviews and the restaurants website stating their careful practices. However, I cannot recommend this place to those that have celiac disease. I was sick after eating here.

Asked about gluten free for Celiac and were told some things that could be ordered. Chowder was brought out with a bag of oyster crackers. Entree was brought out with garlic toast sitting on the rice. They took it back and brought a new plate with fresh rice. Not super confident about prevention of cross contamination but no one got sick.

I ate a bowl of clam chowder. My fiance, who isn’t celiac but still eats gluten free. Ate lobster tail and fries. Now the fries do have a flour coating that isn’t celiac safe. But over all food was great! They even had GF toast to go with the chowder! The waitress was super nice and knew all about cross contamination. It’s not an ACTUAL GF menu. Just a separate paper that says almost anything can be made GF. While ordering my fiancé said he wanted the fries and she said they weren’t safe due to CC. That doesn’t effect him so he was fine. Still awesome that she told us. Loved it and would go again.

Only 4 or 5 items on the entire menu are not GF. Sooo many choices! Had a wonderful dinner, no reactions. Definitely recommend.

The waitress was amazing and told me what was safe and what was not. I had clam chowder, fish they fried on the grill in a gf batter. Baked potatoe because they Don’t have a designated fryer. My meal also came with gluten-free toast. It was delicious

Staff were very sensitive to the needs of someone with celiac. Most of the menu is available gf, so my server was clear and up front about which items can't be made gf such as pasta, crab cakes, and chicken tenders. Basically pre-made or pasta items are out. There isn't a gf fryer, so fries are out. I had fish and chips where I substituted a baked potato for fries, plus the house salad with honey mustard and a cup of clam chowder. The gf bread option was the Franz multigrain (or similar) for toast. All in all a very nice dining experience.

Online menu says they have lots of gf options but inside the options are very limited. They will pan fry fish for you. Fries are in same fryer as all fried foods. So you can get pan fried fish (no flavor) with steamed veggies or baked potato. Very unimpressed.

Our waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten and dairy free items on the menu and what would be safe for Celiac. She explained the areas of cross contamination and why certain items were not safe and I appreciated her knowledge. Menu wasn’t labeled but did explain their process and safety and that most items could be done gluten free. Deep fried items and crab cakes can not be done GF, but the pan fried breading was delicious! Also the only GF dessert is ice cream. We had a great experience though!

Confident that food was prepared gf. Somewhat difficult to order since we were told to pick anything on menu and it could probably be prepared gf. Both my and my son’s first picks couldn’t be made gf. We had the clam chowder and fried fish, but so many other establishments do much better fish and chips and clam chowder (like Seaside Brewing company, public coast brewing in Cannon Beach, and Bridgewater Bistro in Astoria)

The waitress was very knowledgeable which was great but they have a lot fewer options than it seems when looking at their menu online. I wish they would just mark what could and couldn't be made GF instead of making such a general statement...
Either way, the fish was good but I couldn't have any sides because even the fries are covered in batter and the fryers are not safe.

Awesome clam chowder. Knowledgeable staff
Yes
Beach diner, so while not the most amazing food ever I was really grateful they take a lot of care. The server told me there is a separate toaster for GF bread and I had the option to pan fry anything they breaded in GF flour. I had their clam chowder along with calamari and was happy to have an old school place at the coast where I didn't get sick and could indulge in some comfort foods (they do warn about the possibility of cross contamination so leaving this as "not sure".)
Very helpful staff and there clam chowder is gluten free.
Yes
Ordered salmon and rice GF and it was really good. Lots of options.

The staff was very knowledgeable about Celiac Disease and knew how important avoiding cross-contamination was. Their clam chowder was delicious! I had absolutely no issues eating here.

Our experience here was great! Our server was very helpful and informative. The menu states you need to ask about their gluten free options and there are several! The first night we had fish and chips (sweet potato fries) and the second night we had clam chowder. I’m celiac and had no adverse reactions. Will definitely go back!

I was looking forward to dining at this restaurant in Long Beach, Wa, due to an online menu that offered gluten free options. However, once I got to the restaurant and saw the menu there was no mention ( on the menu) of gluten-free options. I asked both the hostess and server what gluten-free options they offered and was told, “clam chowder and a roll”. My server, although an excellent waitress for the rest of our party, glossed over my options and was not helpful at all. If you are looking for gluten-free options Doogers in Long Beach is not a viable option. Your options are very limited and the staff is not very helpful.
Our son was diagnosed with Celiac disease in May. We haven't eaten out much since. We were camping on the coast and went out for a birthday dinner. Our waitress Alix was very knowledgeable about Celiac and what we needed for our son. She made our dinner out stress free! She is a huge asset to your restaurant. Because of her we will be back to enjoy another meal. Thank you Alix!
Came back again 2019. Still knowledgeable staff. Will continue to come here. Dylan our waiter was excellent!

I was so thrilled to find out that they had Gluten Free clam chowder!!! I ordered some to go with a salad and it was good. A little runny but I kind of expected that, great flavor though. I was just really excited to finally get to order clam chowder from a restaurant and not get sick!!! They gave me tons of saltines and oyster crackers in the bag which I thought was so silly since I told them I had celiac. Thank you Doogers, you made my day!

Knowledgeable staff. Delish gluten-free clam chowder. Very sensitive to gluten free and celiac needs
Yes
Knowledgeable staff, yummy food, did not get sick. Clam chowder was delicious!! It’s on the more expensive side but not ridiculous.
Yes
Most of the menu was able to be made gluten free! I had pan-fried fish with a gluten free coating, and they even had GF toast to go with my meal. The server clearly understood cross-contamination. Great experience, excellent service, tasty food, and lots of choices!
Yes
Staff assured me the sautéed scallops would be gluten-free but as a person with celiac and a Nima Sensor I tested and it was positive for gluten! Server was very nice to exchange for a bay shrimp salad with oil and vinegar dressing which I assumed would be safe so I foolishly didn’t test and now I’m seriously bloated and am sure I’ve been glutened!!
No
This place is disappointing. They are conscious of gluten allergies... but I could have had a better meal at Denny’s. I paid $30-40 on a steak and scallops that I barely touched. Overpriced and flavorless.
Dooger’s is a great place for celiacs to eat. The food is great and the staff is well trained to accommodate our needs. Been eating there for years.
Yes
Gluten free chowder was great. Had fried fish which was a treat. As a sensitive celiac, I was happy I did well afterwards. I was glad we went during a slow time of the day because other times we walked by during the week it was packed. I feel it’s safer to go to any restaurant when I’m making special requests during their less-busy hours.

Jacob is a fantastic, knowledgeable waiter. I ordered fried cod. They prepared in a separate pan and dredged in egg instead milk due to my milk allergy. We had a great, tasty experience.
Yes
The staff was very knowledgeable about gluten allergies. Most everything on the menu is gluten free or can be prepared gluten free. Would definitely go back.
Yes
Wait staff was very knowledgeable wrt cross contamination. I had the sauteed salmon, baked potato, salad. and the clam chowder which was fabulous. Fellow celiacs, this is an excellent choice for the area.
Yes
All I can say is they get it and do a great job!! Pan fry steaks so they will not be prepared with other items. Also, had a gluten , dairy, soy free bread - that was awesome! Staff well trained!!
Yes
4 stars for gluten awareness and options - but 3 stars for atmosphere (noisy) and average "family diner" style food.
Yes
Wonderful clam chowder! Waitress very knowledgeable!
What a wonderful experience for a GF person - to be able to walk into a restaurant and order clam chowder which was so delicious and then top it off with halibut fish which was pan sauteed with a light coating of corn flour - so good.
In fact the whole experience was great starting with a great waitress who knew which items were GF and helpful to us when she split the order on 2 plates without asking her to do that.
Both my wife and I left after this lunch and thought how fresh the food tasted - just enough to fill you up and for a very reasonable price.
Yes
Knowledgeable staff, delicious options, separate double wash pan fry seafood options, cocktail sauce beautifully done... very good!
Had clam chowder which was very good. Each had a gf sandwich with steamed veggies and felt fine. 4/5 because it's expensive.
