The staff had no knowledge of cross contamination. When we asked how they make their orange chicken gluten-free, the waitress answered it was because there was no soy sauce in it, but when we questioned further, she said that it was still deep fried the same as the egg rolls and other wheat products. However... that aside, don't eat here because of their lax food handling practices. Don't eat here because there is just not good food. Their beef and broccoli was bland and flavorless, and their fried rice was made of onion, yellow-tinted rice, onion, green onion, maybe more onion?, onion, and tiny bits of pork.
No
I order lunch here on a regular basis but I always insist to talk with the owner who is just a fantastic lady, very knowledgeable about gluten free options. I've tried to order my favorites from the teeny bobber staff before and they have zero training on what is gluten free, the girl tried to convince me that brown rice is made from whole wheat. I always get steamed or sautéed dishes, the fryer is not dedicated and you will get cross contamination. I go with steamed broccoli, brown rice, steamed tofu, and a steamed spring roll! You can even ask the owner to make up a little sauce on the side for you that's GF, I love the orange sauce extra spicy. You have to talk to the owner lady who is Chinese otherwise your dish will not come back to you as GF. I've been going to this spot for years, believe me.
Sadly although they were great in the past the last few times we've eaten there my gf son has become ill after. I thought it was coincidence until my girlfriend and her son who are both gf said they had the same experience. It makes me sad BC their food is so good and my gf son was loving being able to have Chinese. We will continue to go there when gf son is not home but such a bummer.
I have been eating here on and off for a few years. Reading a review about spring rolls and the other about Lo Mein, I tried it again. The Lo Mein is actually Mei Fun. Not exactly Lo Mein, but very tasty. I also had the spring roll which was also very good. I will definitely come back again. BTW, the weren't sure aboit chicken fingers, but I can get those at Silver Palace near Burlington.
Yes
My son has Celiac and we love to come here...the owner even remembers us and when we don't order GF she asks us if we need GF...my son loves their chicken fingers and the spring rolls.
Yes
Ask for their gluten free lo mein. They use delicious rice noodles which are light and better than the real think. Unless it's battered, they are able to convert most dishes to gluten free if you ask by changing up the sauce or noodles. One of my gluten free go-tos!
