Love El Sancho! They are knowledgeable and helpful when you order. Tasty celiac friendly food. I’ve eaten here multiple times and have not gotten sick

Popped in before a Smashing Pumpkins concert for a quick bite… They told me what to keep away from and what to get and had it out in like 5 minutes. Delicious chipotle chicken tacos. Thanks El Sancho!

Other people reviews of this place got me really hyped up to try it. But honestly it was decent nothing spectacular. I felt the tacos were a bit dry.
Chips are made in a dedicated fryer so those are ok to eat. However - fried shrimp and potatoes are in a glutinous fryer. They also fry the tortillas in a glutinous fryer so make sure to ask for them grilled instead.
I did really appreciate how aware the staff was and I felt comfortable eating here. My favorite part was the margs, they use fresh fruit juice! I had a spicy mango marg and it was wonderful!

We stopped in a couple weeks ago for dinner and tried the Oaxaca/green Chile, carnitas, Barbacoa, carne asada, and mushroom tacos. They were all good but the star was the Oaxaca/green Chile by far. They also had a 2Towns bright cider on tap.

Oh my gosh! These are the best street tacos I have ever eaten (including in Mexico)!! Everything here is GF (except for one dessert). I was so happy to hear that the fried shrimp taco was also GF. I can’t even remember the last time I was able to eat fried shrimp! The corn tortillas are amazing, too. I ordered 2 shrimp and 1 carne asada tacos and both were amazing!! They have plenty of other choices on the menu, but the tacos are definitely a don’t miss item! My husband and I even went back and ordered one more each. If I lived anywhere near Bend, I would be here weekly. At this location (there are two not far from each other) you order at an outside window and can either sit inside or outside. The outside seating area is ample and so nice on a non-rainy evening. Do not miss out on this GF gem!!!

I went in April of 2023, and they told me there was nothing currently on their menu with gluten. I don’t know if that’s a permanent thing for them, but it was great when I was there.
The barbacoa tacos were amazing, and the tamales were also delicious. I would definitely go back again!

This was the highlight of my Bend trip. Almost everything GF and the tacos were all soooo good. I also recommend the chicharones and the pineapple marg. I will definitely keep coming back here!

Most items are GF unless there is a special containing gluten. I have been told that occasionally something with gluten goes in to the frier and to ask if the fryer is gluten free that day. Most items are gluten free

I emailed El Sancho to ask about celiac safety and received this reply:
“Thanks for reaching out to us.
Our tacos don't have wheat ingredients but we are not Celiac-friendly facility. We do use flour for daily special items, desserts and staff meal etc.
We are more than happy to provide information of items that does not contain wheat as an ingredient, but for your safety, we do not categorize ourselves as a celiac-friendly restaurant and also we explain people about chances of cross-contamination.
There are some 3rd company organizations gathering and providing information about restaurants but they are not always correct, so we appreciate you approaching us directly. “
Everything here is gluten free. The menu doesn’t state it but we triple checked with the cashier and cook. There is one gluten dessert item that’s not listed on the menu but it’s kept separate from everything. The fryer is gluten free from what I’m told.

They messed up my order and gave me fried tacos at first even through their fryer isn’t safe, but luckily I realized that they were fried so I told them and they were able to remake my tacos without using the fryer. I got the chipotle chicken tacos and they were absolutely delicious.
Yes
Good tacos but came out cold. There is not a dedicated gf fryer. It really shouldn't be advertised that way.
Amazing food but call before you go to ask about the frier. As long as the specials are gluten free, you should be good to go as far as the frier goes. The staff was extremely helpful but you do have to ask (and tell them if you have celiac/allergy).

Doesn't even have a gluten free fryer! I was so sad!

Delicious! No reactions. Highly recommend!!
This place is awesome. Best tacos that I have had in a while. It is a clean and funky place to stop for a quick bite, or hang out for tacos and drinks. Very celiac friendly- the chef helped us order gluten free. Also, it is close to the main highway through town so it is a perfect stop driving from Nor Cal to Hood River.
Most everything on the menu is gluten free! Best tacos you will have ever eaten.
