First St. Cafe

Cafe food, such as sandwiches and salads, plus breakfast all day. Looks like any sandwich can be made GF. Our server was one of the owners, and when I ordered a two-egg breakfast with GF toast, she immediately asked if the toast should go into a toaster or in the broiler. Knowledgeable and friendly and reasonably priced. Plus, in a cute area, in an older and beautiful building. They’re menu says they’ve been here for over 22 years. I don’t live in the area, so this was my first time in. Will definitely return next time I’m in Benecia.

Server seemed knowledgeable but service was slllllllloooowwww. Kitchen also super tiny, didn’t seem like enough room to have a separate area but supposedly they do. Had a delicious open-face crab sandwich on gf bread! Yum!

Great food. I had a club sandwich on toasted GF bread (the bread was good, not crumbly like a lot of GF bread) and I asked if they had any GF desserts, which they had a couple of options for me. The one she brought I hadn't heard of before, but it was a chocolate mouse, caramel, and a hard chocolate too. It was very yummy! So happy we drove over here! The town is also super adorable and great for people watching from the cafe. I have ceilings and I didn't get sick. So definitely a win in my book.

Most staff members know what is gluten free on the menu. If they don't, they'll ask the kitchen. Sandwiches can be ordered on Udi's bread. I had the popular open-face crab melt. Recommended.
