Food was excellent but server appeared annoyed at GF questions. She didn’t offer bread but we discovered halfway through meal they do offer great rolls. I would definitely return despite service from server as food was very good (had trout and for dessert a maple creme brûlé).

Had a wonderful dinner at Fortify!! Appetizer of fried green tomatoes with grits and also the grilled Caesar salad. There were so many safe options, I had a gf onion ring which was amazing. For dinner, I had the pecan crusted trout. I felt very safe and enjoyed the gf bread as well.

Such great food and service. Most of the menu is gluten free and is clearly marked. Make sure you ask for the gluten free bread, it was divine.

Really cozy, fun space in Clayton. Had a delicious meal. Most of the menu was gluten free. They had a gluten free bread service I didn’t opt for. Drinks were really tasty.

Wonderful gluten free options. Yummy gluten free bread. I think lots of their stuff has butter so if you have a dairy allergy also your options might be more limited. If only looking for gluten free I highly recommend.

So while Fortify Kitchen and Bar does have gluten free options their fried options have gluten free breading but are fried in the same fryer as the food that isnt gluten free. BE WARNED! The FRIED food isnt gluten free its cross contaminated. Disappointed, yes. I took full responsibility for not asking. I should have known better but honestly as a chef you should know better then to mislead your customers.
They dont have fried food. Vert misleading. Says gluten free and is cross contaminated

Almost everything on the menu is gluten free. They must only use gf flour Bc everything fried is gluten free. Fried chicken and meatloaf were amazing! Will definitely stop again next time we are passing through.

Excellent offerings for celiac folks. Waiter wonderful and helpful. GF breads and many of the regular menu items are GF. Food is divine!
Yes
Amazing food. Seriously. Read that again: amazing. Also, I had no problems with the menu: I had the trout, fried oysters, and GF bread.
First and foremost, I didn't get sick. But there were several close calls. When I ordered, I let the server know I have celiac and have to avoid gluten. I then asked which sides were gluten free (they weren't shown on the menu) and he named them off including fries. I asked again if the fries were definitely gluten free and was told yes. Then I said that includes being made in a dedicated fryer without other items containing gluten? He said no, they were fried with other items with gluten so obviously I passed. After our meal, we ordered a dessert that again I was told was gluten free. When it was brought to the table, they let us know the cookie had Cheerios in it but they were gluten free... they said other customers had told them they weren't really gluten free so they wanted to mention it so I would know they are. Needless to say, I didn't eat it. There's much controversy around that and it's not worth the risk. The food I was able to eat was good but I was on edge the whole time so unable to really enjoy my meal. Perhaps we had a new server as I would have thought eating somewhere that the owner's wife has celiac would have been stress free. Again, I didn't get sick but you need to be very careful and very specific when ordering.
Great food, expertly prepared. Lots of gluten-free options which are clearly labeled on the menu. They will bring you house-made gluten-free bread if you request it.
Amazing farm to table restaurant with award winning chef. Owner/chef's wife has Celiac. Must try fried green tomatoes! Almost everything on the menu is gluten free! We will look forward to our next visit here and plan to try their other restaurant, Fortify Pie, where GF pizza is served!
