On our way home from a road trip, I always enjoy discovering at least one special place that offers gluten-free options to stop and try. During our recent journey, we opted for I Like Pie in Claremont. Nestled in the old town area, it exuded charm and character. Parking on the street, we strolled through a quaint shopping and dining district to reach the entrance.
The bakery, though simple, had a delightful ambiance. Inside and outside seating options were available, and the selection of pies was impressive, but only two were gluten free: Key Lime and Mixed Berry. Concerned about my allergies, I inquired about the ingredients, and the staff graciously shared the information. While they take precautions, a notice indicated the possibility of cross-contamination due to the non-dedicated facility. Despite this, I decided to take a chance, and I'm glad I did. The pies, resembling more of cupcakes or muffins, were delectable. Our favorite was the Key Lime, with its perfect balance of tartness and lime flavor. The crust, with its crumbly texture and buttery taste, complemented the filling beautifully. Notably, I experienced no adverse reactions, which was a significant relief.
Although we passed on beverages during our visit, I was slightly disappointed by the lack of loose-leaf tea, as only tea bags were available. Nonetheless, the organic tea options looked promising, leaving room for a potential try on our next visit. While the prices leaned towards the higher side, the quality of the pies more than justified it. Without hesitation, we agreed that we would happily make a detour to pick up more of these delightful treats on our future drives through the area.

Love this place! Pies are a bit pricey but delicious! They are getting more gluten free options every day. I've never gotten sick. Always excited to find gluten free pastries!

Not Celiac safe. I’ve gotten sick there twice. The second time was so bad I will never go back.

NO MORE SAVORY PIES!!! 😠. I did have the berry pie, it was delicious, but pretty expensive.
I've gotten sick quite a few times. The servers don't seem to realize you can't package the gf items in the same bag as the regular pies...
Just 2 very small pastries that were gluten free and they $8 each. Really nice place and nice staff but just not GF friendly. otherwise I would have given them 3-4 stars.

Delicious gluten free pies--sweet and savory--on weekends and by special order! Just had the meatloaf pie with a fresh green salad. Love it! Plus, the shop is adorable and the owners are very friendly.
