Celiac / gluten-free review Fantastic service and concern for gluten free. Not my favorite food or prices but will support regardless due to fantastic diligence and support for rating gluten free. Even had dedicated gluten free menu. + Gluten free chili nachos!!! 😃
Ordered from the gluten free menu the volcano nachos for an appetizer. Was told that the gluten free chips were fried in a different dedicated fryer. 15 mins from my first bite and I was in a full blown wheat/gluten ingest reaction not just a contamination. We had to leave and immediately return to the hotel room. Worst reaction I've had in 15 years of diagnosis. Would not recommended this to anyone with celiac.
Our waitress was awesome and very helpful with helping me with gluten free alcohol drink. she went to ask the bartender about some gluten free drinks I could have. she even made sure to tell me that the french fries were gluten free and were fried in a separate fryer then any of the other foods.
Great gluten free menu, even had pricing listed. No reaction and I'm very sensitive.
Great bun on my burger! Burger itself was a bit over cooked and service was friendly but slow. The waitress double checked at the bar to find me a GF margarita and it was fantastic!
Excellent service and amazing gf hamburgers & FRIES!!!! Delicious!
They had an awesome GF menu and knew exactly what to do when I said Celiac! My meal was great, the service was great, and no symptoms!
Amazing cheeseburger on extremely edible gluten free bun. Fries are made in dedicated fryer & no joke, they were so good I almost saved my burger for later do I could eat them all. Server understood cross contamination and was NICE- no eye rolling & wasn't a bit bothered by questions. In fact, she explained how they do things when I asked for the gf menu.
Burger w/ gf bun was excellent! Fries & ranch dressing also gf!
Great menu and great food.
Good variety of options on the GF menu. Had the chicken sandwich and fries. Probably the best GF bun I've tried.
Waitress was knowledgeable and super nice. I had the cheeseburger in paradise with fries and gf bun. No reaction!! Loved it and will be back!
Very good food, large portions. Tried the volcanic nachos, awesome. We didn't get sick 😃that's always wonderful
I have celiac and enjoyed their gluten free volcano nachos. they ran about $16. We ate them two nights in a row. They were just that great! Easily fed 4 - especially if you decide to order the gluten free brownies topped with whipped topping and heath encrusted ice cream. Amazing! Just ask for a gluten free menu.
Was served fish sandwich on GLUTEN bun even after asking person who brought food out if it was GF. Ask again after everyone had their plates as bun looked same to me and said so even though my sandwich had a different marker in the bun
Had an actual GF menu with lots of options. I had the volcano nachos, which could have fed a few people!
best gluten free meal, our server Kendra , was amazing.
This is probably one of the best GF experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. Our server's name was Jasmine, and she went above and beyond to ensure that my meal was definitely gluten free. Margaritaville has a great gluten free menu to begin with, including GF buns for their burgers/sandwiches, and they also have a dedicated GF frier - which the fries were amazing! I had the Volcano Nachos as an appetizer, and the Cheeseburger in Paradise with fries. I so wish I could have tried their GF brownie, but I was so full! I would go back to this restaurant in a heartbeat.
I've been living with a pretty severe wheat allergy for close to 10 years now and have had a wide array of restaurant experiences some not so great but never truly bad until eating here. I am typically very skeptical of trying new places but I was in Destin on vacation and this is one of the few places that seemed to have enough good reviews for me to try it. I wish I hadn't. A few hours after eating something from the gluten free menu I was feeling pretty bad; not horrible to the point that they botched the whole gluten free thing but more like a cross contamination issue. I would suspect the fries as the culprit but can't be totally sure. I wish I could say that I had a great meal and got sick but alas I can't. The meal itself was pretty bad. I had the flat iron steak and somehow it came out tasting repulsive. Some of this can probably be attributed to it coming out rare (like still mooing rare) when I asked for medium but not totally. It tasted horrible either way. I would have sent it back to the kitchen had the waitress come around before everyone else in my party finished their food. Which brings me to the service portion of of this review which can pretty much be summed up as appalling. We saw our waitress maybe 5 times and she was very unfriendly throughout. So just to sum up everything I've said... Gluten Free friendly: no Food quality: terrible Service: appalling Needless to say I won't ever try any of the restaurants in this chain again. Maybe I just had a bad experience and all the stars aligned to create a truly awful time but I've shared my experience and you can decide if eating here is worth it.
If you like fish, get the grouper sandwich here! It comes on a super delicious GF bun with some heavenly tropical coleslaw on top... It was amazing! I had mine with a side of fries and tried the GF brownie for dessert. The dessert was good, but a bit dry and crumbly. Overall, we had a fantastic meal and and great waterfront view 👍💕🌴
Went here with my daughter who is highly allergic to wheat and is thought to have celiac for appetizers and to listen to music. The people were all very nice and They have a very small gluten free menu from which we ordered the shrimp which came with gluten free bread. It seemed to be a very popular appetizer as many people ordered the same thing around us. When the server came out with our appetizer they were unsure who it was for. Finally decided it was for us and gluten free. I questioned them multiple times about it and they insisted it was gluten free. Well as we were eating my daughter started to get an allergic reaction. We had to run 4 blocks in the rain to get Benadryl until we could make it to the emergency room. She also had a rebound reaction a few days later. She is now experiencing all the horrible symptoms that come along with a glutening and it ruined our trip to Nashville. Would not recommend eating here unless they change how they mark gluten free plates in the kitchen.
It's the epitome of chain restaurants, but the food is safe and the staff is well trained. I've eaten at Margaritaville at least half a dozen times and have never gotten sick. My order was wrong once and the manager walked the 2 blocks to my place to hand deliver a safe version of my carry out order along with a sincere apology a promise to review the importance of detail in gf orders. Plus, I can actually have fries!
They have a special gf menu with different options, went for the gf burger with gf bun (hard to find in restaurants). It was good. Waiter Jeff knew what he was talking about and he was a total sweety. The others had the NY strip which was very good. Would go here again for sure.
The menu seems great. I am having the nachos (amazing) without the queso (queso not gluten free). The chips are in a dedicated fryer. However if you want to eat rooftop and want anything other than nachos it is not available. This is why I gave 3 stars. After waiting 15 minutes I found this out. Frustrating but now we know 👍 should have asked.
Great meal! The gf taco salad is good. Made with chili and not over spicy. I also had the gf brownie sundae which was terrific! Hostess asked if we needed a gf menu before we were even seated. My meal was delivered by a separate waitstaff member but at the same time.
Great gluten free nachos, burgers, and fries (dedicated fryer). There are other options but we havent tested anything else. Service generally depends on the time of the year as it is a tourist location. Their GF buns are the best we've had with the exception of a few GF bakeries.
Wouldn't recommend coming here if you are looking for a lot of options. They offer gluten free buns but you can only have a plain cheeseburger because the rest include sauces that contain gluten. The service was horrible. When I asked to see the gluten free menu that they advertised the waitress wouldn't give it to me and rudely replied "All we have is gluten free buns and kettle chips." Also was given kettle chips with my meal instead of fries without being asked. I'm not celiac so I don't worry about cross contamination. Service was horrible, for was mediocre
Servers were great and understanding, I went for drinks and apps and she went and asked bar which margaritas were safe. Just two. I got the loaded nachos which were really good though were made from kettle cooked potato chips instead of tortilla, which worked fine for me.
Asked the waiter for gluten free options was told the volcano nachos were. Was never informed that the nachos would be made with lays potato chips. The nacho was horrible! The potato chips were not an adequate substitution and were rather nauseating in the meal. Have been to several margaritavilles and had an amazing experience and more options. Would give this one the lowest rating of them all.
No gluten free menu but waiter and chef both came out to discuss my allergy and read all the ingredients and even informed of a shared fryer. Waiter can explain options. Fajitas were great.
I'm a GF vegetarian & they made some awesome nachos with black beans instead of chili. They were SO good! They have a separate GF menu but our waitress didn't seem to know a whole lot about GF. Be sure to tell them ahead of time & they put on the ticket to have the chef prepare it separately!
They had gluten free and vegetarian menus at the hostess stand. The menu had some great options and they heard to them when I told the server I needed my meals gluten free. The manager brought out my meal and I had a gluten free drink at the bar and desert. No reaction and I am very sensitive. The dessert was so big it could feed all four of us so I had left overs for tomorrow. Very happy!!!!!!
Based on reviews, I was excited to eat somewhere close to my hotel (100% rating by celiac). They seemed very aware of CD/GF needs. Unfortunately, I got sick and was not as active in the work conference I was attending due to this. Can't say someone else might not get sick as everyone is unique but I have CD and did!
We ate here last night. Lots of choices and great service. I have celiac and get sick very easily. I had the cheeseburger with french fries and had no reaction at all. Also there is a gluten-free brownie dessert with ice cream and whipped cream was fabulous. We all shared it because it was very large servings. The waiter knew about select the seas no problems here Will definitely go again when we come back to Destin.jmo
Just went after looking at the GF menu online and calling ahead. They said they have a separate grill/prep area for all items on the GF menu, so I tried it out. The menu is pretty decent - 3-4 entrees, 3-4 sandwiches, 3-4 apps, 3-4 salads and a dessert to choose from. The prices of the sandwiches are the same as the regular menu, so no upcharge for the GF bun! I got a sandwich and it was great and no gluten reaction afterwards. The sandwich was served with fries and I asked the waiter about them and he said they have a dedicated fryer for just GF food, so I ate them as well. The waiter was knowledgeable and the food was really good. Would absolutely go back.
Great GF menu includes brownie sundae for dessert. Yum! GF burgers with buns (remind them to microwave the bun). Lots of choices on menu. Try the volcano nachos. Enough for 4 people to share. Great, fun atmosphere but noisy. (Hurricane goes off every hour- too funny). Always crowded. Call 2-3 days in advance and get priority seating.
This is not the correct address for Margaritaville restaurant. Not sure what this is.
