so happy to eat a gf fish and ship, Amazing, great restaurant
So excited to have been able to eat here on my first trip to Boston. Fantastic experience and even better food. I will be returning as often as I can!
Since 2005, Legal Seafoods has been celiac friendly as they don't use flour at all. Both of our young kids have Celiac and eating at Legals was such a treat. All their seafood, french fries, chicken fingers, etc are safely gluten free! They also serve GF rolls which were delicious. No need to worry about cross contamination here. The food was all delicious, as always! Now we just need a Legals in CT!
My favorite chain on the East Coast. Fabulous fresh seafood, dedicated fryer, the only place I know of for gfree deep fried calamari, shrimp, fish, etc. Salads are wonderful variegated fresh greens, not wilted iceberg business. Fish at this location was the best ever!
Fantastic!!! Enjoyed the GF fish and chips which were phenomenal, the best fish I have had since I went Gluten free six years ago. My non-gfree family members loved them meals too. I could tell th server must get asked often if the breading is really gluten free haha "yes it really is, pretty much everything is". I have to agree, I think the majority of all items offered were gluten free. The server even asked the others still wanted bread before just bringing. The manager brought out my meal separately. I would give them 10 stars!! Highly recommend!!!
Always great. Dedicated fryer and yummy gluten free bread. Celiac little one does well here.
This is so good!! Highly recommend for all families! Not only did they have gf rolls, dedicated fryer, and appetizers... Everything was so fresh. I got Fried shrimp and onion rings, very big portions and very worth every penny.
My son and I both have celiac disease. The servers knowledge and service was great. We enjoyed warm rolls, chowder and fried shrimp appetizer. What a treat to indulge in items that are usually off limits when dinning out! Thank you Legal Sea Foods!!
I love how much they really care about this. It's great. The food is tasty. You should go.
This is a dream for a celiac. 100% dedicated gluten free fryers, manager oversees preparation and delivers gluten free food in different colored plates. Huge selection of gluten free items and the kitchen is committed to keeping everything separate and safe. Best place in Boston for a Celiac go dine. And delicious to boot!!
This is the first time in 15 years I have had fried fish while eating out & boy was it fantastic. The chef brings out your gluten free plate personally. It was so good I felt like I had gone back in time:) Highly recommend.
Very gluten aware. Food was fantastic!
Decided to go here because of the great reviews. I had the scallops shrimp and lobster in wine sauce with French fries and they had awesome dinner rolls. I asked several times if there was a dedicated fryer and was told yes. Well I really was sick shortly after I ate. Something was not right even though they assured me everything was gf-- my gut says there was gluten in something-- I would not ever return-- not worth the suffering
More gluten free options than I could count. Fantastic.
GLUTEN FREE NOT CONTAMINATED FRIED FOODS! Very cautious kitchen, taken very very seriously. Chefs alerted, and food is brought out by managers who assure it is 100% gluten free.
I would give this like 10 million stars if possible. Their fish and chips is basically my entire life, I live in Chicago and we went to Boston on vacation and I bring up their fish and chips to my mom like every day to ask if we can go back. They also had the best and one of the only gf onion rings I've ever had. They were literally so good I can't even. If you are in Boston stop by your life will be changed...!!!!!!!!!!
I am from Chicago and am so used to my only option being salad. Legal Sea Foods was an amazing experience! I was able to order fried foods that were completely gluten free, that was amazing in and of itself, but the fact that the food was super flavorful and probably the best seafood I have ever had was the pinnacle! They even served my mother gluten free to assure there was no contamination and she couldn't even tell the difference until they told her. She and I were so amazed we will be going back on our next trip, we just hope we get the same waiter because he was amazing! I strongly suggest this place to anyone wanting a great gluten free experience like never before.
They really go out of their way here to protect those of us who need to eat gluten free. I felt extremely safe eating here and got to enjoy delicious fried seafood and French fries! The rolls they bring out are also very good. Service was excellent!
The service was fantastic. They were so helpful telling about their gluten free food. The rolls are fabulous. I had their fish trio plate with lite clam chowder - delicious!
very serious about food allergies and cross contamination. Did not get sick at all! A must try!
It was really nice to be able to have gluten free fish and chips in a restaurant. And it was good! Their gluten free menu has quite a number of items that I didn't expect.
I've never been so excited about rolls! And fish & chips, what a treat!
Excellent options and very accommodating staff. Excellent gluten free service.
Gluten free menu ask for assistance if you have significant allergic concerns wait staff confirmed they were placing a gluten free order
Our waiter had celiac and was incredibly charming and helpful. They even had popcorn shrimp!
Server was a fellow celiac so he totally got it & took care of me. Enjoyed lobster dinner & gfree rolls & dessert. Yum! Going back tonight.
Very good fish and chips which is a tremendous treat.
Loved it!! So nice to have GF bread brought to me with everyone else at my table. The fried fish was a treat as I hadn't had that in 10 years. Lots options and staff very knowledgable of everything.
Very knowledgeable about gluten. The server brought me gf rolls and they were good! Fish is great.
Always come here when we are in town. Love that I can get fried calamari and rolls!! They really care about your food. Never disappointed.
LSF was recommended on a travel Website and was a quick 2 min walk from the Hilton. The server, Meredith, was bright and bubbly, and very passionate about the food and restaurant, especially the Gluten-Free options. On her recommendation I ordered the GF Fish and Chips and their GF beer. Being from NZ, I am always a starter for good F&C. Their attention to the many GF options and to food handling is outstanding. F&C looked great. But lacked flavour (needed salt and 'something' in the batter). Onion straws were dry. Chips the stringy McDonald type and a bit cool. GF beer was great. I will go back, but probably opt for the Snapper, which looked great at next table.
Was really wowed by attention to detail on cross contamination. Server asked if the grill was ok or if I needed a clean skillet. Despite being quite busy, the manager was alerted and delivered my meal personally. Delicious food and great cocktail menu.
Love love love!!! Lots of great options, me and my mom swear by this place. I am allergic to dairy and gluten so eating out at a place I can enjoy safely can be fairly daunting. I let them know and they told me if they could do certain dishes. Gluten free dishes are clearly marked with a little leaf. I cannot eat the fried foods as the batter has dairy, but i can appreciate gluten free fried food even if I can't eat it! I had the snapper verde with fries and spinach and it was AMAZING. Food is pricey so be mindful, but if you can swing it then it is very worth it!
Gluten free options AMAZING! I had fried fish and chips too with fried onion strings and I almost cried! It was really good even for my non gf husband. He said the batter was perfect. 👍🏻. The salad was fresh and tasty and the GM brought over hot gluten free rolls with butter which were the best gf rolls I've ever had. Still a little drier than regular, but with butter on the top you barely notice. He explained that from their point of view many are trying to avoid gluten and desire more healthy eating, so they are doing their best to meet the need. The gf options on the menu were extensive. Each item that could be made gf had a little icon beside it making it very easy to scan the options. My husband said the clam chowder was really good too. The fish and chips were $20 which is a bit high, but when I tasted it, it was amazing. The price might limit me from visiting as often as I'd like, but I'll be back!
The fried items marked GF on the menu are cooked in a shared fryer. Our server made us aware of this prior to our order, so we were able to avoid these items. I wish they would mark this on the menu. Beyond this issue, my experiences at the Legal Test Kitchen in South Boston have been overwhelmingly positive. The servers are very knowledgeable, the restaurant offers good gluten free rolls, and GF items are delivered separately to the table by the manager. Lots of good menu options.
This is the only place in the Metrowest area that I know that has gluten free baked stuffed lobster and it is truly delicious!! Gluten free calamari is awesome and the sides available are excellent. This may be pricey to some but it's worth every dime if you want to really enjoy a tasty gluten free meal.
A very nice experience. The newly remodeled interior & some interesting additions to the gluten free options makes it worth another visit. Now the regular menu is marked with an icon to help you make selections.
This is the Oysteria location. The staff was awesome and extremely knowledgeable about gluten allergies. Their fryers are completely gluten free and many of their non-fried menu items are as well. They would get 5 stars from me if my pizza crust was cooked all the way. That was the only problem here. Loved the staff, the atmosphere, and the food.
I have a toddler with Celiac's. When I asked our waitress if items on the children's menu could be made gluten free she looked at me as if I had 2 heads. She then huffed off to go check with the kitchen. I ended up ordering mashed potatoes with the meal and she rolled her eyes at me and asked if mashed potatoes were gluten free. I told her they should be since it's usually potatoes, milk and butter. They did bring my son out a gluten free roll and the manager brought us my son's plate and checked in with us a couple times to make sure my son liked the meal. If not for the rude waitress it would have been an enjoyable dining experience.
Saturday night (September 3, 2016) we were seated at the second floor for our daughters engagement party. I have celiac disease, (autoimmune disease to gluten) I cannot eat out often because of cross contamination issues in kitchens of restaurants. I called a few days before the event and spoke to Randy the manager. He assured me he could provide me with a safe meal. I placed our order with him over the phone. When we arrived, Randy and our waiter (can't remember his name) could not have been more accommodating. They met with me prior to taking orders, reviewed everything, brought my food and drinks out separately, reassuring me throughout the evening. And they did it discreetly as none of the other guests were aware. I can not tell you how grateful I am for having this experience and that Randy went above and beyond to make my food safe. Right down to dessert! You really never know until after an hour of eating if everything has gone safely, but yes it did. To be able to enjoy my daughter and future son inlaws engagement gathering, was the biggest gift Legal Harborside Dining could have given us. Thank you Randy for all that you did. I appreciate it more than you ever know. Sincerely Maria Newman
I have gotten sick here twice. The first time, I'm not sure what happened. The second time, they used the spicy breading instead of the gluten free one. Both times were during slow times of day. The afternoon wait staff seem disinterested. I have never had a problem with the one in short hills even though they are much busier.
A rich GF menu amd the waitress seemed very familiar with gluten issues. She was supportive when when we asked for a glove change. She took it upon herself to offer our kids GF rolls which my son enjoyed a great deal. They were willing to make items on the kids menu from scratch for the kids also. The manager delivered the GF dishes. Great experience.
Brought my kids (both have celiac) to Legal Seafoods for lunch today. They were able to make the fish sticks and the chicken tenders from the kids menu completely gluten-free and safe from cross-contamination for my kids to enjoy. French fries were also gluten-free and in a dedicated fryer so they were safe. After a few bites, both my kids jumped up in the booth and shouted we "love it here"! So excited to finally find a local place our entire family can enjoy.
As others note, thus location is NOT celiac friendly, although the current menu notes some fried foods as GF our waiter pointed out the coating is GF BUT only one fryer! You can get GF rolls and the grilled seafood, but disappointing when you had heart set on fried calamari. Our waiter was great and very accommodating so I give 3 stars for that but if in Seaport go to regular Legals across the street
We were at the World of Coca Cola (Centennial Park and Acquarium) so lucky to find this good fish restaurant so close. We were told that the manger is very aknowledge with GF and being Celiac, so every plate will be double checked before being served. I decided to trust them and let my daughter have fish and chips. They brought her some GF rolls which she enjoyed hawith butter. For some reason she didn't like F&C, but didn't get sick, so I think it was only her personal taste.
I have craved fried seafood since I was diagnosed with celiac disease last year. I was so excited to see that they offered gluten free battered seafood and that they take fantastic safety precautions against cross contamination. The food was delicious, they even had gluten free rolls and croutons. It may be pricey but it was totally worth it!
Hi I'm Morgan and like most of you I have celiac. Not to long ago we went to Legal Sea Foods for a family event. The hostess said that they were 100% gluten free and that I could even get fish and chips! I was thrilled! When everyone ordered I assured our waiter that I had a severe gluten allergy and ordered the fish and chips. They were delicious! Until on the car ride home we had to stop for you know what! I was up sick all night! When I was up to the task and called the restaurant. The manager was truly very upset about it and gave us a 75 dollar gift certificate, but I don't think I will be going back anytime soon!
Wow!! That's all I have to say. It is by far the best seafood I have ever had. I actually over ate, I liked it that much!!!!! The service was amazing our waiters were friendly and the manager brought out our gf food. What a meal by far the best gluten free food in Washington D.C. GF dinner so far!!!🍤With gluten free fried shrimp. Yum Yum!!!!🍽🍤🍤Lots of options.
Awesome and knowledgable
My family loved going here while in Boston on vacation! It was busy so we had to wait a bit, but after our order was taken the meal came quickly enough and everyone was happy. My husband enjoyed is first ever GF fish and chips (a pre-celiac dx favorite), my 11-year-old was happy to find a cheeseburger on the menu, and the rest of us enjoyed all sorts of great seafood!
This is the best place to go if you have celiac disease. They can pretty much make everything gluten free. This is the only place I can get fish and chips safely, and it's delicious. Although a tad expensive (seafood usually is) I feel so confident in their ability to get the allergy right and I SO appreciate their effort in making their facility safe for all of its patrons!
