Could not be better. So many options, so delicious!! The chicken in champagne sauce is a personal favorite :)
pierogies, garlic bread, mozzarella sticks, lobster ravioli. I cried when I looked at the menu. so many foods I have not been able to eat in years.
Really impressed! The owner personally came to our table to go over the menu! They even put a small GF sign on the table so if waiters get busy it is a reminder. Have not seen any other business owner go to this length. Not only separate prep area but separate exhaust system. Amazing to see a full menu of GF food & dessert menu! Pizza was very good & I had the lobster ravioli w/pink sauce! I felt like it was my birthday! And the best determining factor.. I did not get sick! I recommend this restaurant and hats off to the owner for providing a safe place to eat!!
extensive menu, helpful staff, separate sections for gf prep and cooking. wonderful experience! and delicious desserts!
The absolute best! Separate GF fryer and kitchen area. The owner understands cross-contamination issues and service is top notch. GF garlic bread with mozzarella-fried calamari-pierogi-mozzarella sticks it's all awesome. They will make your pizza any way you want it. Delicious! I usually get a few pizzas to go and freeze them.
Fantastic- a wonderful and big gluten free menu. Food was delicious! Did not mind paying more for the quality!!
excellent service, great selection of gluten free items, and they are generous with offering samples to try new foods!
Mama's absolutely astonished us with the depth of their knowledge of gluten free, and size of their menu. The GF menu was the same size as most other menus at other restaurants. The owner and the staff were incredible. The food was fantastic. Mama's is well worth the 1 hour drive from our house.
I saw how wonderfully this restaurant was reviewed here so I stopped for dinner. They had a huge gf menu and was very responsive to my diet however maybe it was what I ordered? I ordered the tour which is 3 kinds of meat or eggplant and 2 meats with penne. It came swimming in sauce which usually is a red flag to me. There also wasn't enough pasta comparatively to the huge amount of sauce. The breaded chicken I found was a thin patty with a very hard crust the eggplant was scarce and the sausage didn't look homemade to me and there wasnt much of it. I scooped away half a platter of thick sauce. Maybe partially my fault for not saying light on the sauce. But it to my taste wasn't good. For dessert I ordered gf zappoles. I missed having these so much. I got about 10 small hard balls of dough and the oil it was deep fried in seemed wrong compared to what I was used to. I thought these were doughie yet soft not hard till they sat for a long time? It was very busy which wasnt a bother. The service was great and the ambiance was fantastic. Together we spent over $70 for 2 and it just wasn't great... Wish I had a better review to give but even my non gf hubby wasn't thrilled with his dinner. Maybe it's best too get menu suggestions from friends and sticking to those dishes. 3-stars for service, ambiance and having such a great menu.
I love this place. They have so many delicious gluten free items. It's the only place my son who is dairy free and I who is gluten free can find a variety to choose from.
Best gluten free menu ever!!! Has homemade mozzarella sticks and fried zucchini and garlic bread with fresh mozzarella. For dessert they have funnel cake!! YUM!!
Best place to go out to dinner. I am gluten free and potato allergic yet still have many options!!
Although the menu is broad for gluten free the staff is not well trained. We clearly told the waitress that we needed Gluten Free and ordered from the gluten free menu but the waitress placed the order for regular food. The waitress brought out the regular food and served it. When she realized her mistake she did not return to our table but sent the manager out. She never returned to our table - not even to apologize. The management was of course very apologetic but it can not replace the fact we were glutened. We had driven 45 minutes just to try their broad gluten free menu but without the right training of the staff it's pointless.
Delish! Very knowledgeable about GF. Very friendly and accommodating. The chef/owner came to our table and explained the menu and process and also came back to see how we enjoyed the meal. Highly recommend.
Amazing! Best GF place around I travel from 30-40 minutes away to get the best GF food around town. Amazing and knowledge staff.
Food is amazing here. I get food from here every Friday. Haven't found something I don't like.
Amazing experience, amazing food! From the moment I indicated I was a gluten free customer the staff was on top of things. It was obvious that everyone is trained to handle gf and to make things even better the food is unbelievable. Such a treat to know things were under control and to have so many food options! I just wish I lived closer!!

You can eat easy here without fear of cross contamination. Great place to go whenyou feel like eating out.
Fantastic food and service. Highly attentive to gluten free patrons. Definitely recommend.
absolutely love the variety and taste of all their gf dishes! it's a little bit of a drive but definitely worth it 😄
Never worry about finding something good to eat, always something new to try. GF mozzarella sticks +1 here as well, so good. Very large portion sizes... Dinner and leftovers. Get whatever you can in Rosa sauce... Worth it. Owner Tom is very polite and personable.
The gluten-free menu is unbelievable! As everyone says, the mozzarella sticks are to die for - my first in 15 years, and I actually had tears in my eyes. The owner came to our table and explained the history and the gf kitchen. It's a 40-minute drive from home, but I will eat there whenever I can.
Huge gluten free menu, great staff, my non-gluten free friends are always stealing my mozzarella sticks.
Pretty awful-the mozzarella sticks were pretty good but other than that, among the worst Italian food I've ever had in my life. Instead of trying to make good food, they just cover huge portions in the most disgusting, jarred-tasting marinara sauce. My meal was practically inedible.
Wow! Right when the owner heard I was gluten free he came over to my table. He sat down, explained the history of the restaurant and the precautions they take for GF diners, and offered some recommendations. Once the food came he also continued to check on us. All of the food was incredible (I highly recommend the mozzarella sticks)! It was a delicious, worry-free meal, as all of the staff were very knowledgeable about GF needs. The menu is also huge - something for everyone! Definitely worth making the trip. *Side note: I went on a Saturday night and it was very crowded. Reservations are recommended!
Love this place! The owner is very nice & usually comes out to chat with customers. They have amazing salads, all the pasta is fantastic, I'm not crazy about the pizza crust or bread as far as gluten free ones. They're just alright. The food is fresh, sauces are excellent, good produce & variety. They have a gluten-free dessert menu too, which is rare. Good coffee, chia tea. They also have vegan options for non-dairy cheese, I think Daiya. The staff are great too. All around above par restaurant.
The food is delicious with a vast menu of gluten free dishes from appetizers, main entrees and desserts. The owner is wonderful, friendly and understands all about having a gluten free kitchen and recreating all the Italian dishes to gluten free. I live in Colorado but found this place last February (2013) when my Mom passed away. My family and friends loved it! Every time I come home to NJ for a visit, you can rest assure I will be eating at Mama's!
I started a gluten and dairy free diet about 2 and a half months ago, and this was the first time since that eating out was not stressful...in fact, it was the exact opposite. The food was amazing and so was the service. The owner even introduced himself and told us a bit about the restaurant (like that they've been gluten free for 10 years!) Also, I called them today to find out where they get their gluten free dairy free ivory cake from and they not only gave me the name, but told me the address and phone number and the name of the owner. I'm super excited I will have birthday cake this year =D
They have a huge selection of GF items. All taste great and I go there almost weekly. It's wonderful to eat there as it's worry free. They often provide a sample of another GF dish. Service is impressive.
Didn't even want to give this place one star. By far the most disgusting food I have ever eaten in my life. Gluten free or not do not here. Dirty. Gf pasta tasted so weird. Way over priced at $20 a dish of inedible food. So very upset and let down. Major waste of $. Even my family that isn't gf was completely disgusted. I felt like someone was playing a joke on us. Mamas yuck :(
I discovered Mama's Restaurant on gluten free finder, my son has celiac and even though my wife and I frequent Hackettstown for dinner often, we never knew about Mama's. We went tonight for the first time and it was wonderful. My son was in his glory with all the choices on the enormous gluten free menu (mozzarella sticks, onion rings, garlic bread, fried calamari...). In fact we all ordered of the gluten free menu and everything was great. The owner was extremely friendly, he gave us a tour of the entire restaurant, told us all about it, the history and how his family has been running it for generations. Great restaurant, great people, we'll certainly be back.
Excellent food, separate kitchen space, huge menu, even puts sign on table saying gluten free. Includes many desserts. Came from an hour away for a local event and needed something to eat and this came up. Would go back
if you have Celiac, this place treats you like a KING
They mixed up my gluten free order with gluten! Was so sick double check ur order here.
This restaurant is great!!! at first, I was a bit disturbed because they didn't offer to seat me right away, but when I was seated, it was great. The food was phenomenal and it appears that everything they offer on the regular menu is on the GF menu.
Awesome restaurant, wonderfully filled menu with numerous choices, part of gluten free awareness program (GFRAP), winner of MFGV best ever gluten free award. Take home gf marketplace also available for at home cooking.
Gluten-free menus usually consists of everything I can't eat, They lack knowledge about cross-contamination, And offer plain everything. This experience at Mama's & Cafe Baci Exceeded all of my expectations. The largest gluten-free menu that I Have ever found to include New York City, from Appetizers to dessert everything was top-notch. I travel an hour to get there all the time! Well worth it, Thank you for your care about celiac inflicted people
I love the gf pizza!!!
as always great GF food & service. We go there any chance we get! The new pizza crust is so amazing that I actually had 2 double check that it was GF!
Did not like the pizza and even though I specified I was ordering off GF menu, it was a good thing I double checked when I got there because what they made was not GF. I had to wait for them to re do it. They did give me a $5 gift card in compensation but not sure I will go back.
Excellent gluten free food. Superb service, great atmosphere.
