Salad is the only option - no GF pasta or pizza
No
Visited Milano on Dec 24, 2017. They were serving only from a buffet line where a cook prepares your food to order (pasta plus accompaniments), pizza, soup, and salad. When I made a reservation about two weeks earlier, I stated that I must have gluten-free and was assured they could accommodate me. About Dec 21, a woman from Milano called me to clarify my need. When we arrived on Dec 24, the hostess went to the kitchen to ask them to start cooking my GF pasta. Then the hostess and our server both told me to get in the buffet line with everyone else to have the accompaniments added to my GF pasta. Once I had progressed along the line to the cook, he wiped out a skillet with a paper towel, cooked my accompaniments and then added them to my pasta. This was unacceptable, so I asked the hostess to take my dish back to the kitchen and prepare a new dish, using all clean pans and utensils. She did and the dish was very tasty and I had no reaction. BUT, the hostess and the server should have been trained by the manager not to send a celiac through the regular buffet line. They should have known to have the kitchen prepare my meal separately. I am displeased with the training provided by management and I do not hold the hostess and the server responsible. A few years ago, Milano was under the management of a celiac and I could feel confident in my meals. Under the current management, be sure to clarify how you want your food prepared and pay close attention.
Glad to have found this place while visiting Crown Center in Kansas City. Kids menu with GF option for my daughter with Celiac disease.
