They make the GF menu look impressive until a good majority of it is eliminated by no dedicated fryer. By the way, the chips are also fried before serving.
I’ll find somewhere else to eat next time.

So many options: Salads, ribs, chicken, burgers . . . all delicious. Chips and salsa are served instead of bread. You won’t be disappointed.

Gluten free menu! Food outstanding. Gave me chips and salsa instead of bread while waiting for meal. Have GF rolls for burgers. It was a busy Tuesday night, and took awhile to get good. Waitress was wonderful. Worth the wait.

Inform and train waitstaff on serious allergens and cross contamination
Best fried oysters I’ve ever had, gluten-free or otherwise! The GF Cajun seasoning was tasty, especially on the grilled shrimp (which were also cooked perfectly!). Waitress was super knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Instead of bread, they provided complementary chips and salsa. At end of meal, also gave complementary scoop of peppermint ice cream. They also offered a few ciders and a gluten-free beer.

Driving back to the DC area after the day on the road, we needed a restaurant with gluten free options. We took a chance on the online recommendation and are thrilled we did! First, they didn't have a few gluten free options, they had a dedicated gluten free menu which was two pages! Second, the wait staff was attentive to detail. We split the White Star Rib platter. The meat fell off the bones and the cauliflower mash was flavorful. Their attention to detail was appreciated- When fresh bread was delivered to my husband, they brought me chips and salsa (without my asking). There was a bucket for bones, they provided damp towels to wash hands once you were finished, and served complimentary peppermint ice cream to cleanse your palette. The restaurant was packed and we will definitely return the next time we're in the area.

Was so disappointed. They had a gluten free menu but the fryer is cross contaminated. The poor waitress didn’t seem to know anything about the menu. Offered saltines with the crab dip. I had two teens with celiac’s so it wasn’t a fit for us.

My daughter has Celiac. We live locally. This is our go-to place for family celebrations. They have a gluten free menu, GF alternatives. Staff is VERY knowledgeable. We always tell them first thing that we have a GF member of our group. Manager told us, as he was seating us, “if your server doesn't know the answer to your questions, ask for me. I'll answer them.” we’ve eaten here several times. Daughter has never had a reaction.

Food was amazing and our server knew the menu and was VERY helpful. The gluten free fries were the best and the potato skins were delicious they have set the bar for quality and service and they are reasonably priced as well.

Absolutely fantastic! I’m gluten free and have never been offered an alternative when others are brought bread. It’s sweet to be brought chips and salsa. There is a gluten free menu if you ask. The food is amazing and my non GF enjoyed it too.

Suggested as a great spot by my Airbnb host. Wow!! So much food. I ordered rib plate AND kids chicken tender meal just because it’s been a while since I had them… the wait staff said the establishment makes their own GF blend to bread the chicken. We are going back before we leave town because their food was so good.

Waiter was knowledgeable about gf options, including dressing selections. They had gf ciders available in the bottle when we ate there. They brought out chips and salsa for me to snack on the same time they brought out the bread and butter for everyone else. The waiter did state the gf menu isn't updated as recently as the normal one, so just ask and they can tell you what from the daily specials or the normal menu is safe! When we went for dinner, we were served peppermint ice cream at the ending as a palate cleanser, which was also gf. Very good experience, will eat here again when we travel. The irony of the entire thing is that the restaurant itself is inside an old, repurposed flour mill. :)

So happy with their knowledge and ability to create things gluten free! They have a special coating for gluten free fried items- gluten free bread. Very knowledgeable and understanding! Had no concerns or fears with their confidence to provide me with safe food that I can’t usually have like chicken tenders!

I’m just finishing as good a meal as I’ve had since I was diagnosed with Celiac. The staff totally get it.

Huge gluten free menu. Staff understands celiac needs. Very attentive. Food was yummy! The GF potato wedges looked so-so when they came to the table, but they were super tasty!
Yes
Wonderful! They have a separate gluten free menu with many wonderful options. The staff is knowledgeable about celiac and very friendly. The food was amazing and so was the service. Great experience.

Great restaurant. Lots of gluten free options. I go here a lot. Wait staff are knowledgeable. I’ve gotten a lot of different things here, so good. Will warn you the chicken tenders are not great but everything else is. The breading they use is sooo grainy, feels like you are eating dirt. Great place other wise. Potato wedges are sooo good!
A good number of options for gluten free and seemed to really care about making sure to prevent cross contamination. My son and I (both have celiac) and we made it through without a reaction. They were very accomodating for kids too and instead of serving the fries which are fried in a common frier, they made delicious pan fried potato wedges.

Absolutely lovely - gluten free menu and offered me chips and salsa instead of the bread. it was a great experience

OMG... one of the best restaurants with a GF menu we have found in a while. The best part is they also have our favorite cider, organic Samuel Smith, and Samuel Smith Perry (pear cider), which we have never found anywhere, except our local bar in Pennsylvania who carries it at our request. This is our second visit on our travel through Virginia, and we made a point of stopping here so we could eat here again. And it's just as good the second time as it was the first time. This is definitely going to be a regular stop on our travel to and from Florida.

I felt like they were conscious of those who need a gluten free diet. We drove from Lexington VA to eat there because of their gluten free options. They have a large selection of gluten free items. I enjoy that when they bring out bread for the table they also bring chips and salsa. I will be back for sure!

what a great meal and didn't get sick. love this place! spoke with owner. he really is dedicated to serving celiac patrons.

Amazing food! They almost always have GF DF options for those with multiple allergies!

One of the best GF restaurant options in the valley! I have been there many times over the years with Celiac and have always been satisfied with their knowledgeble staff and GF options. They have even gone the extra mile to make an obvious gluten food, GF for me. I always thank the waitress and manager when he comes by for doing what they do.
great food, knowledgeable staff. we we were wonderfully taken care of, even if it is a little weird to be in the cellar of an old flour mill.

It's ok. Too much on the menu to do everything well, but good good for the area. There is a GF menu. Be aware that GF coating for fried foods contains soy flour and they may fry in commingled oil.

Wow! I can't say enough good about this place. I found it on this app . With such glowing reviews we had to give it a try. We were not disappointed! I left feeling spoiled. From start to finish a wonderful experience and fanatic food. Very knowledgeable and accommodating staff. I had the chicken salad plate. It was very fresh and delicious. We also had the potato skins which were perfect. I was surprised and pleased when our server offered the tortilla chips and salsa in place of the basket of bread. Will definitely eat here again when in the area. The atmosphere was also a big plus.

I have celiac and have eaten here many times. My favorite place to eat in the valley because the number of choices is unmatched. The flavor is awesome. Only thing I have ever run into is that one waitress thought the tortilla chips might be fried in the same oil as gluten items. She wasn't sure, but I wasn't ordering anything like the nachos so I didn't ask the manager. I have never been sick after eating there.

Delicious meats! Honestly every time I try a new dish here, never once regretted it! Grab the menu and go nuts!
I stopped though this town on a road trip and was very pleased to find this gluten friendly restaurant. The GF menu is huge, and perhaps better yet, they actually WANT to help you feel safe eating from their restaurant. I phoned in a simple take out order (the chicken, avocado, bacon salad). It was delicious and the ingredients were fresh - exactly what I was looking for.
I had what will be the first of many meals today at Mill Street Grill. We arrived and, though the restaurant was packed, were seated within five minutes. The environment was dark and cozy and I appreciated that they had retained a lot of the architectural details of the old mill building in which the restaurant sits.
I mentioned to the server that I was gluten free and was immediately presented with a separate and extensive menu. She also mentioned to ask if there was anything I didn't see because the chef could modify most dishes. We were offered chips and salsa as a sub for the bread basket. We selected the crab dip as our appetizer and I ordered a half rack of their famous ribs as my entree. Everything lived up to the hype I read in the reviews. The dip was piping hot and delicious while the ribs fell of the bone the minute you picked the up. The rub and sauce combo were excellent.
The owner came over to check on us and took the time to explain their journey with providing gluten free dining options and offered additional tips on items we should try in the future.
Cozy environment, excellent service and great food. This place is the full package. I can't wait to go back!
They can alter most of their menu choices to be GF. I've eaten there several times without incident.
Yes
Huge selection, great food
Separate menu with plenty of choices. Fryer is not dedicated though. I had a good house salad and did not run into the crouton issue. The crab dip was broiled in it's own dish.
