Moby Dick does not have a gluten-free menu and they do not know how to avoid cross-contamination. They don't have any separation of preparation. I was surprised at the five-star ratings. As someone with celiac, I decided I could not stay because I wouldn't be able to get something I could eat.
They offer a GF bun, but are not knowledgeable about GF. I asked about cheese, which they only have American or Swiss. With that, I ordered a burger, not cheese burger, but the sandwich arrived with American cheese. When I explained the problem, they did take it and remake my burger. The burger was great. It was juicy and flavorful, and the bun was nice and sturdy. Not dry at all. However, if you like crispy bacon, skip the bacon burger. I hope they remember that American cheese is not GF for future patrons.
This place was a pleasant surprise. When seeing the restaurant from the outside, one might not expect to find gluten free and vegetarian options here but my expectations were proven wrong. There is a list of gluten free burgers, which can be customized, and the staff was nice enough to let me see the ingredients of the milkshake, which appeared to be safe. The gluten free mushroom burger (sans patty, as I am a vegetarian) turned out excellent. It was very flavorful, the hamburger buns had a great texture, and a great deal for the price. The milkshake was great as well. Unfortunately, the fries are currently (01/19/2014) not fried in a dedicated frier, so, as a celiac, I steered away from them due to cross-contamination, but the burger and milkshake were filling enough on their own. Overall, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend.
Gluten free daily menu on wall. Knowledgable staff. No dedicated fryer yet.
