Mostly celiac friendly. You have to be on your toes. Best to ask for the manager before ordering. Don't get the french fries and don't be fooled if they appear on the GF menu. Stick with potato chips, baked potato. The house-brand steak sauce is not GF. Ask for the A-1. I've dined here safely many times, but I've also been glutened and had near misses. My two celiac kids have also been served safely, served gluten, and served near-misses. The food is good enough, and sometimes the price is REALLY RIGHT (especially if you have kids and the Red Sox won), but you really have to be on your toes. No complacency allowed!

Was our regular place for a long time. The staff is great and knowledgeable. Stopped going when the fries were no longer cooked in a dedicated fryer. Hoping they'll fix that! Family friendly for our 2 year old.

Very, Very good food! The waitress was extremely careful and made sure to ask the chef about whether the fries were cross contaminated (they weren't, and they were delicious) I highly recommend the all-star burger.

Ive always loved 99. so when I had to go gluten free, I was happy to see that they had a gluten free menu. I go there all the time. they're gluten free menu is a separate menu with some great options. they even have gluten free buns for burgers (I always get the Bacon cheese Burger). all you do is ask for the menu and they accommodate you very well. I haven't gotten sick once from this place so they handle your health needs very well and try to keep away from cross contamination. love this place. everyone should go. its the best chain restaurant around for gluten free options and care. five stars!!

Although the food was good, the service didn't really know what was and wasn't gluten free. I ordered the cheeseburger on the GF bun and the waitress ran away before I could tell her my side. I stopped her early enough to change the fries for mashed potatoes, but the plate still came with cole slaw, which, for the life of me I can't figure out why it isn't gluten free.

They will be serving gluten free beer in the near future. Next time I'm going to try the hamburg with GF buns. Heard it's really good. Will report back.

At the Dartmouth Ma 99 I was sick before I left the place and it was a major reaction. It was not just a little cross contamination. I was with a gf friend who had the same choice of burger and also was violently sick. Do not trust the Dartmouth ma 99. I eat at the Newport 99 and love it there.

I love this particular Newport 99. Even their French fries are gf. I sit at the bar and the service is wonderful. I have a hamburger WITH a BUN and French fries whenever I go there. It is absolutely delicious and a treat to have french fries. I have been 3 or 4 times and had a great meal and no reaction afterward. Each time the waitress has been very aware of what it means to be gf. I ate ate the 99 in Dartmouth ,MA and was sick before I left but at the Newport 99 I never get sick!

Always get sick from the gf menu. The chefs have no idea about cross contamination and the servers and managers are very disrespectful about accidentally getting bread pieces mixed in with food on the "gluten free" plates. I don't go here anymore.

And no, it was not one of their gluten free buns. I had to go back and I still wonder if they just removed the bun and gave me the same meal. I do not think they took me seriously. This isn't an allergy...it's my life, damn it.

Like many places you go to the GF menu is not as extensive as the regular one, but what they offer is tasty and they are one of the few places that has GF burger bun as well. The bun can be dry though so I would suggest you ask them to toast, or better yet, grill it with some butter.

Then my replacement burger was almost raw because they were rushing to get it to me when I ordered it well done. The other chains in CT are great, but I will never return to this one in Bristol/Forestville.
