The food is nothing special, BUT if you are looking for an affordable, safe option…this place is it!! They have a separate GF menu that’s super thorough and their fries are always in a dedicated fryer.

Updating my review but keeping my old comments. I was happily surprised when I found that the Nitty Gritty had GF brunch options, and it was delicious! I got the Wisco Scrambler with eggs, bacon, sausage, peppers, and fried breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were fried in a dedicated GF fryer, and the portion was enormous. Definitely recommend for brunch, but still don’t recommend on busy game days.
OLD REVIEW:
This place has gone downhill a lot in the past year. It can’t be trusted when it gets really busy. The fries are in a dedicated fryer though, so that’s a plus. The staff continues to be helpful, but the kitchen isn’t clean.

I will start this by saying I have been to this and other locations multiple times without issue. Last night I went for a friends birthday and ordered nachos with no meat to be safe and easy for the staff. The server (was new and none was her fault) came back saying the kitchen said they wouldn’t make it. I was concerned at first it was a fryer issue and wanted to know why before I tried to pick something else. Found out it was Bc the kitchen was mad and just refused to make it which it was the easy thing to throw together so I didn’t know what else to do. The manager talked to them and assured me they would make it and it would be safe. I was nervous and ate it and DID NOT get sick. Thankfully. So just be aware to follow up if they’re busy to ensure your food is prepped safely. I still love the food and will be back but just wanted to give a warning.

It's been at least 2 years since I have been here, but I did go 3 times to really give it a shot. I had issues with cross contamination. The last time I went there once just for French fries because I knew they had a dedicated gluten free fryer. It was late and I should of refused to eat the fries (that I specifically went there for) when I asked the waiter for the gluten free fries for an allergy, he gave me a weird look and when he brought out the fries said "here are your gluten-free fries" with weird emphasis. Apparently I should have listened to my gut feeling and not eaten the fries, because I was gluttened so damn badly it took me a week to recover.

I had pretty high expectations based on the reviews, but I was thoroughly disappointed after eating here. I ordered the turkey, bacon, & avocado sandwich on a gluten free bun with a side of fries & my sandwich was very flavorless & veryyy dry, & my fries were cold & hard. I’m not trying to be negative, but this was honestly one of the worst meals I’ve had in awhile. However, my brother said he really liked his non-gluten free burger, so it may just be the gluten free options that aren’t good. My parents really disliked their food as well though & they ordered regular food (not gluten free) so it may also just depend on what you get there too. Our service wasn’t good either though since I think our server forgot about us for a while, so the overall experience was just a little disappointing.

The burgers here are really good. Their separate gf menu was good about specifying what was in a dedicated fryer and what their cooking procedures are. We had a good experience.

Not celiac friendly. The menu is typical Wisconsin bar fare there is nothing special about this restaurant.

I ordered the black bean burger and fries off the gluten free menu. A couple hours later, I was in pain. I did not have a good experience here, which stinks because I had heard such great things about this place.
Best GF burger and fries in town!! Totally safe!!
Yes
The fries are gluten free and they have buns!!! I love it here and they have a separate menu as well!
They are usually very accommodating. that being said don't go at peak hours if you want celiac friendly and don't order take out. Every time I have sat in during their less busy times I have not gotten sick. but each time I go at peak hours or ordered over the phone I get horribly sick.

I ended up being served pulled pork on a glutenous bun. I was very specific that it needed to be gluten free and I even double checked when they brought it to me. Needless to say, I vomitted for many hours as a result of their mix up.

Repeated visits have made my son sick each time. Wait staff seems inconsistent in knowledge. Would not recommend to anyone who eats GF for medical reasons.

TERRIBLE gluten free options.

Happy to find a dedicated frier. Great service and tasty food. I did get sick. They believe it was from a new burger seasoning and were very apologetic.
Dedicated gluten free cooking surfaces, including a gluten free frier. GF french fries & ketchup!!
