They don't try to advertise as gluten free at all. Anyone who knows what they are doing would never order a burger and expect a bun outside of maybe San Francisco or a place that is specifically gluten free only. Stick to steaks and proteins just avoid anything from the fryers. The bloomin' onions spit out batter into the oil like a firecracker going off. I do not eat here anymore as it isn't safe for Celiacs but for people with wheat allergies you are okay. Just be careful.
We had to ask for the gluten free menu. I order classic burger on this menu. I had just been in the hospital for eight days because of my allergy to wheat. My order came. I took a bit out of it. The bun tasted different the gluten free. I asked if it was gluten free. The waitress grab the burger to check with the cook if there was gluten in the meal. Well, she came back with a hamburger patty with cheese , (no bun, lettuce, tomatoes or pickles. I was offered a side dish of my choice. I had bread in my car, so I ran out to the car, got my bread asked for mayo and mustard. I had my cheeseburger and a salad. I got charge for the regular classic cheese burger over $9.00. I will not go back. I could easily ended up back in the hospital and I don't feel I should have paid regular price for the meal that I had to bring in my own bread. This is a dangerous place for Gluten Free costomers.
While they are gluten free, they are not Celiac friendly. I was very careful and told the server I had Celiac. After I ate, I could tell right away that I had been accidentally glutened. I believe they just weren't careful with the salad. The manager felt terrible.
Told them I was celiac and ordered a ceasar salad with my dinner. They brought out a regular salad with croutons on it. Made me wonder about my dinner so I asked for the manager. He did go back and start my food from scratch but not sure what would have happened if I had not intervened.c
Almost always a safe choice while traveling. However, like another reviewer, I also have trouble with their salads. For that reason, I always order the same dish. Pricey, but a great, consistently safe meal on the road or for special occasions. Five stars for the Outback near Pigeon Forge, TN, who also had delicious gf rolls!
Here is the most recent menu link: https://www.outback.com/nutrition/gluten-free
my waitress was ver knowledgeable even knew how things where cooked and with what. they have a large selection of gluten free items which are on an actual menu and not in a binder. they even have a gluten free brownie which is to die for. great experience!!
We had dinner here a few nights ago while traveling. My daughter had her favorite gluten free Alice Springs Chicken, my husband and I each had a gluten free filet. Everything was fine gluten free wise. She had no reaction and the food was good. My only complaint was they were trying to pass off a sirloin steak for a filet also the parking lot is really dark. They had a several parking lot lights that were not working.
Just went to outback for the first time last night since I've been diagnosed with celiac disease. I had called ahead to ensure they make accommodations for individuals who have celiac. The manager informed me that they do and additionally that all of their staff are required to take an annual online course on how to service those who are allergic to gluten. When I arrived with my party of 6 to the restaurant, I was provided with a gluten free menu by my waiter and I also reminded him to inform the chef of my inability to have gluten (and cross contamination issues). I ordered the filet minion (medium rare) with broccoli. Wow-it was cooked to perfection! I am extremely satisfied with my meal. Will be returning again soon.
I have had a great experience at every Outback I've eaten at, making it a restaurant I fall back on especially when traveling. Steaks and salmon are always delicious. They are well-trained on avoiding cross-contamination. I always have my meat prepared in a separate pan rather than on the grill.
Waitress was very knowledgable about what items were gluten free, and we had confidence about these items being so. Manager came by to check that everything came out ok for us. We couldn't have the ribs because I the BBQ sauce, but I felt good knowing they knew this was not as option.
Everytime I go there, it's always a real struggle. I let them know I had a gluten and a milk, or anything made from milk, allergy. Apparently, if you order the Prime Rib, the au jus has gluten in it. I found out later as I sat around feeling the effects afterward. I also had to send back the vegetables multiple times because they had butter on them. I specifically asked numerous times that they be butter free and plain. But the sweet potato & the vegetables came back twice with butter... If you have allergies, stay away from this place. I've been to a couple good ones, but not this one...
They have a very nice gluten free menu and most of the staff is very good about understanding the celiac problem. It's a good experience and we've never had a problem after many times eating there.
Love going here! The staff is trained in what to do when someone orders from the gf menu. They have a separate prep area, utensils, change gloves, etc. My dad and I (both of us have celiac) can eat here with no problems. It's great to have this option!
Nice that they have a GF menu. My steak was good but the potato (home style mashed) were super salty. Wish they had some type of GR bread. It took a while to get our food-it was busy-and the other members of my party had 2 loaves of the outback bread while waiting. It would be nice if they offered a GF option.
