I recommend the Bremerton, WA, Hwy 303 Outback. I did NOT get sick here. Reading other reviews, I can see this varies greatly with location, but in this case, it was a good experience. They accommodated my GF and dairy free request cheerfully. Both management and staff were professional, personable, and knowledgeable about GF and cross-contamination. A manager oversees the preparation of any meal when a food allergy/sensitivity is involved, and they assure me they use a separate prep area. I'm not a chain restaurant kind of person, but wanted to be safe. I had a simple, decent meal with a nicely cooked piece of fish, steamed vegetables, and a baked potato, with olive oil and wine vinegar, and I didn't have to suffer for it afterward. The only mistake they made was to put containers of gluten-containing dressing literally on the side of the plate of the appetizer we were sharing. Some of the contents slopped out onto the food. But they were very receptive to my explanation of why this is not okay and suggestion that they always serve the dressings on a separate plate in future. Everything else was very well done. Note: they do not have a designated fryer.
Outback is one of my favorite restaurants, but NOT today. This was my first and last time to eat in this one. I got the Alice Springs chicken, which is one of my favorites. It was dry and very bland and it was not hot. My husband, who is not gluten free ordered the steak tacos. They were COLD. He said the bread wad stale and cold. Will NOT go back to this one!
Very knowledgeable server- he even knew or went to check ingredients to make sure my food had no dairy, either. There are a lot of options that are gluten free, and my food was served separate from the groups'. I did not get sick, and I plan to come back again.
Long story short, very rude host to start bad experience with, then after being seated I was told they discontinued the gluten free menu a week ago and the waiter told me that he needed to know if we were staying or leaving so we would not be wasting his time. The whole experience was terrible. I went out of my way to go to this Outback because I thought they had the GF menu. And really, I could have got past that, it was the rudeness of both the host and the waiter. But, if you are looking for the GF menu, don't bother..I wouldn't want you to be wasting their employee's precious time.
My wife has celiac disease. She and I ate here about a week ago and were very impressed, and she didn't get sick. We told the manager, who seated us at our table, about her allergy, and we were provided GF menus. He also said that he would notify the kitchen so that all of our food would be safe. Additionally, our server, Natalie, was very thorough in helping us make selections from the GF menu, and she assured us that their staff are trained to avoid cross contamination. Sure enough, my wife didn't get sick at all. We enjoyed the food, and the sense of comfort that comes from a restaurant chain that has a good track record on gluten issues. We'll be back here.
I love eating here!! I have celiac disease and I get really bad reactions when I get gluten. I've never had a bad reaction to anything I've eaten here. The staff is always very knowledgeable. When you ask about gluten free or about something on the menu they know what you are talking about and what precautions they have to take to ensure the food really is gluten free.
This place is the best for knowing all about gluten! Just ask and they will bring you out a full gluten free menu. Mostly everything in the restaurant is gluten free, but you need to tell them you have celiac so they can clean off a part of the grill. This place is amazing and knows a lot about how dangerous it is to come in contact with gluten
Many options, attentive to our concerns, & needs.
I ordered off the gluten free menu and let the server know that I have celiac. They were very careful with my food. The server even brought my salad with the bread so that I would have something to eat. Food was delicious and staff was knowledgable! No issues after! I'm adding Outback to the restaurant "rotation".
Full menu plenty of options, from starters to desserts
I was able to eat steak and a salad while out with my gluten loving family. I'm new to the gluten free lifestyle but this place had plenty of gluten free options for me. Even had a gluten free desert even though I didn't try it. Bring gluten free, having plenty of options is a wonderful thing. Definitely recommend for a nice meal out.
I love Outback...but make sure you check your salad before eating it. I ended up with a crouton in my mouth once. This was after the server made a big show of saying that it was a gf salad. I think someone picked off the croutons before giving me the salad. The manager made me a new one himself.
I've never gotten sick here and I have a very sensitive stomach my favorite is the Alice Springs Chicken without the mushrooms, one time when I went with my boyfriend it had mushrooms they were very understanding and made me a brand new one and apologized and gave us our meal for free!
Our waitress was informed and very helpful. It was a great experience for us. They even have a gf chocolate brownie for dessert. The food was very good!!
