terrible! they only had 2-3 options!
After my celiac kids got violently ill the last two times we ate here, I complained via the online Pei Wei site. Customer service was outstanding and they sent us 4 free meal gift cards to use and reassured me they have reviewed gf safety guidelines, etc. so we tried it again. I was told that they do not have separate utensils or woks for GF. They put oil in the wok and heat it to a very high temperature and call it good. Folks, please note that gluten is a protein and it doesn't "burn off" like they describe. I do NOT recommend this for anyone with celiac, it is simply not safe.
We have eaten here for at least six years, sometimes once a week, and I have only gotten contaminated once. James is knowledgable, as are all the managers. Very accommodating to GF. Ask for double coated meat if you want it crispier. Love the Pei Wei spicy chicken salad, mild! Six options on the GF menu.
I got very sick eating here after numerous successful visits. I have not gone back.
I have eaten here once since being GF. I had high hopes but got sick. I'm very reluctant to try it again even though I know mistakes happen. just hate to spend money on a meal just to be sick. I am sure I will try it again one day.
Love the food. Fresh, hot and fabulous! Nice gluten free selection, even gluten free soy sauce. I ordered the gluten free Pei Wei Spicy Chicken with brown rice and it was excellent (especially if you like a little spice).
You can ask for sweet and sour non-breaded chicken over rice noodles.
If you have celiac disease ask for your food to be in take out container, even if you are dining in. This will avoid cross-contamination from the servers.
Wow! Quick service and fresh taste! recommend to all my Gff's!
I gave this a four star due to the tastiness of their food. They're GF menu is very small, like 4 items, but I haven't gotten sick. They're GF options are carefully planned, as they go so far as to cook the veggies in water instead of veggie broth because the broth contains some barley. This is a sister restaurant to PF Chang's, so they have a decent amount of training, although, not as much as PF Chang's does.
Great flavor. Consistent product.
It is very tasty. The food is not pf changs comparable but my sister and I enjoy coming here when we want a faster Chinese meal. I definitely recommend!
One of my favorite restaurants: -Many GF options that taste like the original version -several Celiac employees -GF extras like soy sauce packets at no extra charge I usually get GF sweet & sour chicken with white rice and veggies. It's excellent.
Great choice, I regularly eat here and get the Pei Wei Spicy Shrimp every time. Delicious and haven't gotten sick out of the many times eating here for lunch
Gf menu is very limited but good. I agree there is better gf Chinese out there. But this at least a safe consistent fast option for celiacs.
While they have some vegetarian items on their regular menu, they have absolutely no vegetarian options on their gluten free menu. I asked the woman working the counter if they could sub out the ingredients to make something that was both gf and vegetarian and she said it wasn't possible. The only option was edamame. Lame.
They do have a GF menu however they don't like to actually read the tickets so your chances of getting what you ordered are about 50%. Watch very carefully and never ever leave without checking your bag if you order to go. I went with not celiac friendly simply because they can only get an order right about 50% of the time so you can't really trust them.
I recently went with a large family group and as stated before the gf menu is small, and I had the orange chicken and it was made with some sort of sweetner which wrecks havoc on me and didn't taste well. But no gluten symptoms, staff didn't seem knowledgeable when asked about other items so I didn't risk it. The rest of the family enjoyed and over all not a complete disgust, but I was put a little of by the lack of options
Not a lot of choice but the food quality is great!
There are 6 gluten free items on the menu, one of which is hardly edible. The sweet & sour chicken is just awful -- imagine cooking chicken in vinegar and adding some orange colored gel and you've got it. The vinegar taste ruined the whole plate. I won't be back.
Very disappointed as well, food was mediocre and pricey, prob will not go back. Not many GF options either
Finding a decent GF place poses a challenge, especially while traveling away from familiar home locations. My wife and I both just ate there and let's just say the food was...... Delish! The wait staff was familiar with our dietary needs as well as the GF options the restaurant offers. There is nothing worse than getting the "deer in the headlight" look when you mention that you don't eat gluten. If we all take the time to post feedback on this site all of us GF's will have an easier time finding good safe places to eat. Wherever our travels take us.
Extremely limited GF menu, but at least it exists. There were literally only 2 or 3 GF entrees, so not a good choice if you're a picky eater. (Which is disappointing when it's SO EASY to make Asian food GF.) I was ready to give them just 1 star, but a few things changed that as I was leaving with my to-go order. First, they had GF soy sauce in packets, which is hard to find and a definite plus. Secondly, their order receipts have a good GF distinction in bright red letters. And my to-go order had a GF sticker on it. So while I was totally disappointed in the GF menu options, it did seem like they had a strong GF procedure in place. Not sure I'll be back, but it isn't altogether a horrible choice.
I've verified that my receipt says GF. The person who brought the order to the table specifically said it's gluten free. Yet the shrimp was battered. I just thought they used corn starch like they do with the chicken. It tasted really good... maybe that should have been a red flag? Well, then it's my fault too. Yesterday and today have not been enjoyable. :(
This celiac truly appreciates the safe dining experiences I have had at Pei Wei in Stuart ,Florida. Limited, but delicious GF offerings, knowledgeable and extremely friendly staff and a place to enjoy a meal that won't kill me. :) Especially yummy Vietnamese chicken salad rolls.... Thank you, Pei Wei!!
last 3 times there I have gotten sick. Someone doesn't take gluten-free seriously. And the last time I had a dead bug in my meal.YUCK!!!! They did give me a refund for my meal.
Good food. Ask for the GF menu. They have a handful of items. I had GF edemame, spicy chicken and spring rolls from the gf menu. All great. Ask for gf soy sauce packets. They are prepared to serve GF and it's not a problem. We fed a family of four for $45. Best gf Chinese food experience I have had.
I got the gf sweet and sour chicken and it was horrible. It tasted like cleaning products. The only reason I gave it two stars was because I didn't get sick. My wife got the dynamite chicken and ended up throwing it away because it was so terrible. I was very disappointed and we definitely will not be eating here again.
Everyone seemed very skeptical of my request to make sure it was cooked in a clean pan. We'll see how I feel....
You have to ask but they have gluten free soy sauce.
I had the Pei Wei spicy chicken - the only entree marked GF. Rice, chicken, carrots, and pea pods. It was good. A bit expensive at $9.40, but it is at the airport. It took about 10 min for them to make. I heard them communicate it was GF, but didn't watch the prep to see what that meant for them. You can see the cooking area if you want to monitor.
Had the spicy chicken. It was crunchy and savory. Delish! I can eat Asian food again!!!
5-6 item gluten free menu. friendly staff and chefs
They have a small gluten free menu, my advice is to ask for the manager to take your order so it is done right. I have gotten very sick before called the restaurant to let them know, a manager called me back and urged me to come back and ask for a manager to take my order. I really enjoy this place, fast and decent food.
Small gluten free menu, but it tastes delicious! I'm just thankful that they were thoughtful. :-)
We love the GF Vietnamese Chicken rolls & GF Pei Wei spicy shrimp. They are consistently good, and the order info is saved for the next time you call which is very convenient.
Current staff doesn't get it. They glutenated me today. A black plate signifies gluten free but they brought it out on a white plate. I questioned it but they said it was gluten free - NOT. Give back the white plate every time and make them redo the order
Usually we love Pei Wei but tonight we had a pasta noodle in our GF dinner. I retuned it to the kitchen and when we received the second GF dinner, it also had a noodle in it. Be careful all GF eaters.
The gf menu is extremely small. 4 salads and 2 entrees. That's it
This food was honestly horrible. I'm typically pretty easy to please, but I couldn't even finish my soggy spring rolls, and the sweet & sour chicken gave me an instant stomach ache. Never again.
I was very disappointed with their "new" menu. First of all, I don't appreciate having to wait in line in order to ask for a gluten free menu. Second, I really don't like the fact that the gluten free menu is all of the size of a baseball card with very few choices. Just wondering, why do restaurants feel it is necessary to make those of us with celiac feel as those we are acting as a burden by making us seek out this special hidden menu? If you have gluten free options why not put those in with the regular menu? Anyway, not worth going to Pei Wei, they really have such a limited menu if you can even consider it a menu.
They have a limited gluten free menu but it is there. I had GF fried chicken (with potato starch) covered in sweet and sour sauce. First time I had fried asian items in a while! Good for a quick dining out option.
