Gf thin crust is crispy and surprisingly good. They change gloves, use a clean pizza cutter, put all gf pizzas in a take out box to avoid any wheat flour contact.

Build your own pizza with a Subway-style line. Servers are very familiar with gluten issues and take special precautions including changing gloves, gf crust, separate pizza boards and separate pizza cutters. All this special service done without making me feel like I was a burden!

This is the best out of the 3 I've tried in the KC metro area. Everything is a different setup for gf pizzas, except the sauce, but they use a separate spreader to spread it on the crust. The price is reasonable for a gf pizza, cheaper than anywhere else I've been. As a family of 3, we can all get our own pizzas the way we like, for just over $20.

NOT for celiac or allergic people. The topping containers have no spoons so the employees touch the pizzas then reach with their hands in the containers. Also the sauce has a ladle which is used both on regular pizzas and gluten-free pizzas, so the sauce is obviously contaminated. So different from blaze pizza where everything was made sure to be not contaminated and gluten free from separate sauce to having spoons in each topic container. two different cutters different surfaces everything. Compared to that, Pie Five a joke

Customers can choose yummy signature pizzas or create their own pizzas on any gluten free crust (and salads) working with staff well trained to avoid gluten contamination-changing gloves, walking the gluten free pizza down the line, boxing food, & using dedicated tools. All the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to make sure that all of my gluten free needs were met! As soon as I said that I was gluten free, their gloves came off and sealed gluten free crust came out- I felt safe eating there, which rarely happens as everyone with gluten problems knows. Although the pizza toppings are served "bar" style, I felt safe eating here because there is one person who touches the pizza crust normally, while the others put the toppings on, so I didn't feel the actual bar items were contaminated. The person who did mine walked my pizza down the entire line to avoid contamination. Overall, Pie Five was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a very very long time!!! I would recommend it to anyone, gluten free or not!!!

This place is amazing. They immediately wash their hands, change their gloves and use different utensils when you say you need gluten free. Plus the pizzas are made to order, can be dairy and meat free and have so many delectable ingredients; like a variety of different olives, tomatoes and onions

They did a great job protecting our pizzas from cross-contamination. The crust is delicious! And, a great price comparatively. You can choose as many toppings as you like. It is an additional $2 for the GF crust making it $8.99+ tax.

Their website says, "Due to the risk of cross-contamination, Pie Five DOES NOT recommend this pizza for customers with celiac disease or gluten allergies." (CAPS in original at http://www.piefivepizza.com/menu/) Think I will heed their warning because I get really sick when I eat even tiny amounts of gluten.

Okay, so the pizzas are okay for what they are - they use Smart Flour crusts (same as Mellow Mushroom but smaller), and most of the toppings are gluten-free (meatballs aren't GF). However, I can't recommend this place for anyone on a strict gluten-free diet (i.e. celiacs) because there's so much cross-contamination potential with the other crusts stored in the same area as the GF ones. If you're not a celiac and can deal with some CC risk, then Pie Five is very, very convenient. Personally, I haven't gotten sick here. I can't say it's 100% celiac friendly, though.

I can't comment on the food because I didn't wind up eating there. I walked in and looked at the menu- it said they had a gluten-free crust, but there was nothing that indicated which ingredients were safe. I checked their online menu and saw the disclaimer that specifically said that "Pie Five DOES NOT recommend this pizza for customers with celiac disease or gluten allergies." So I left. Their food might be fantastic but they are clearly not offering a safe dining experience for those of us with medical issues.

Very happy with my service, they openly advertise they have gluten free options, change out their gloves, have separate cooking implements... It's not celiac friendly though, because of the risk of cross contamination from the ingredients, gloves touch a regular pizza dough, then the ingredients... Now the ingredients are contaminated, I haven't reacted though, and it all tastes great! Good price too, not terribly expensive for the gluten free crust! Overall very pleased!

If you have a gluten allergy I do NOT recommend eating here. The toppings are all on a topping bar that the workers take from and then put on the pizzas... although they change their gloves for the gluten free needs .... they take from the same bin they just put their hands in before touching the other non gluten free pizza dough. which completely contaminates the toppings. I spoke with them about it and walked out. I'm dissapointed :-(

They charge $2 extra for gf crust which is not fresh like their regular crust, and tastes like cardboard, according to my son, who also eats gf. I got a salad when I saw the yucky crust, and it was okay, but not worth the price. It really irks me that they charge extra for gf, and it looks and tastes horrible.

The pizza tastes fine. The toppings are set in an assembly line (like Chipotle or Subway), so there is risk for cross contamination. There are prepackaged GF crusts. Beware the standard marinara sauce. While they use a clean spatula to spread sauce on GF pizzas, the back of the dipping spoon is used to spread the sauce in standard pies. A safer option is olive oil and garlic. Be cautious and ask questions, but worth a try.

Um... Well I just have to say... I had called and they said they don't usually do to go orders. I said that I only had a 30 min lunch and work in a huge office building that takes about 5 min to get out of and into my car and about another 10 to get to their location. They made an exception... Which I appreciated because I forgot my food at home today. Totally made my day better... So thanks... Also the pizza tastes amaz! My first time there. I eat gluten free b/c of genetics not celiac... so I'm not exactly sure if it's completely free of gluten... but what in life is 100% guaranteed? I don't have celiac so I don't know how friendly it is for them.

Gluten free pizza crusts are sealed and opened as ordered. Limited cc from the flour in the air but otherwise great. No limit on quantity of toppings made it affordable. They used new gloves and a separate cutting space for the pizza. Only limits we're a few salad dressings and Alfredo sauce were off limits.

EXCELLENT! Menu easy to follow to quickly pick out a Pizza Pie. GF pizza was excellent. The ingredients were fresh. The wait time was minimal. Quick service. Employees friendly and knowledgeable about what was GF in pizzas and salads. Definitely changed out gloves and dough was pre wrapped and it appeared that the pizza pans were different for GF. Restaurant was kept very clean - tables, floors, around the fountain bar. Bathroom was very clean. Love the sink, automatic soap, water and a dryer all in one. I want one of these. If you are just gluten sensitive, they take the necessary precautions making your pizza. the first reviewer should of talked to a manager and read the full menu before such a unnecessary bad review

My family came on opening day, and I was hopeful from the reviews on other Pie Five locations around the country that they would be able to cater to the gluten free diet. That said, they used the same ingredient bins that are used with the gluten pizzas, and did not seem to understand cross-contamination (they did change their gloves, used a different tray for the pizza crust that was wrapped in plastic and opened in front of you, and the pizza was put in a to-go box instead of a tray). This may be due to it being opening-day and not having much experience yet. If they started using fresh ingredients from unopened bins and were more careful, then it might be an option. When all was said and done, my husband and step-son loved their gluten pizzas and side salads (they have a great bundle option), but I ultimately decided not to take the risk and took the pizza home for my husband to eat the next day. I was torn between wanting to try the pizza and avoiding being sick. It wasn't an "if" I would end up sick, as I saw the ingredient bins and knew there wasn't a chance I would walk away unaffected. It just wasn't worth it, so I couldn't even tell you if the pizza crust was any good.Overall, I do NOT recommend for Celiacs or those who are very sensitive. It's more cost effective to pick up a frozen Against the Grain pizza (which is larger anyway and thicker crust) and cook it at home.
