The waiter let us know that the shrimp and grits are definitely GF, the fries are not, and neither are the smoked wings which are finished in a fryer that is not dedicated. We had the shrimp and grits which were amazing- the best we’ve ever had! Even though it seems the only GF item is the shrimp and grits, we would come back to have them again. We ate outside on the patio. Overall a great experience.

I would stay clear of this place if you are celiac. I was told I had three options, we talked in detail about cross contamination and I asked again about GF… we ate, I ate maybe a third.. started getting a headache.. we stayed at Tides next door and before I could get settled in the room the symptoms hit! Not how I wanted to spend the last night in Folly!

Chatted with kitchen before having dinner here with large group, including my son who has celiac. The kitchen prepared a steak with sautéed asparagus in a separate clean pan for my son. Shrimp and grits offered as GF option. That was delicious and enjoyed by non-celiac family member. No dedicated fryer for fries.

Good experience! Knowledgeable waiter! Delicious GF meal! The waiter was familiar with Celiacs. He told me possible options & doubled checked with chef. The Shrimp & Grits were amazing!!!

The server, Annie, was super helpful. She was incredibly well informed about the risks of cross contamination and even told me what to order and how to make sure it was safe. She came back to my table several times to offer options that were safe and explained why things like the nachos wouldn't be safe(shared fryer!!!). I was so impressed! The menu is absolutely limited but the patio is dog friendly which was a HUGE plus for us with our giant dog and coming off the beach. It was a great experience!!

Called to ask about gluten free options before going. I was told that they were unsure and they would ask someone. They came back and told me they do not have a menu or dedicated fryer. They could give me hummus with chips, a sandwich with no bun or shrimp tacos on lettuce. I did not feel confident at all, chose not to eat there

I was nervous about eating here as the reviews on here are mixed. There isn’t a lot on the menu that can be gf and there is a high probability of cross contamination, but I was able to eat something really delicious and didn’t get glutened. Make sure you let your server know how important it is that there’s no cross contamination and they should be able to help you out. This is not a gf destination, but if you’re in the area and need to eat something you’ll at least have a couple options here that are really tasty. I had the house salad with grilled grouper and balsamic and it was AMAZING.

I felt very safe ordering and eating gluten free there, but the menu was a little lacking. Nothing against them, it's just that they have a smaller menu. Our waitress, Jenny, was very knowledgeable of Celiac and gluten free and was very friendly. They had love music that night which was pleasant and not too overbearing in volume like we feared. Nice "sea side" atmosphere.
Yes
Got glutened here. Ask for gluten free options and they hand wrote a list of what I could order. I should have known better. Next time I won’t take a leap of faith.
While, they don't have a gluten free menu, my server was very knowledgeable about what options were gluten free and did point out that a couple of the gluten free items were cooked in a shared fryer and therefore would be cross contaminated. I got the shrimp and grits which were excellent and crab dip with celery on the side rather than the tortilla chips.
Rita's is not Gliten Free and Theo staff is clueless. If you have celiac avoid this restaurant. To poster below, nacho chips are not Gliten free.. Fried with all the other breaded foods.

Excellent! Not advertised as GF but menu is all fresh made and can be tweaked to be made gluten free. My wife had Blackedlned Tuna Nacho's with caramelized onion and bell pepper, black beans, topped with watermelon jalapeño pico! AMAZING!
My son got a kids hot dog with chips (no bun) and loved that it came on a frisbee. We also enjoyed the chicken nachos with watermelon relish. The atmosphere was relaxed and kid friendly.

I'm not sure why it says there is a dedicated fryer because there isn't and hasn't ever been, according to the manager. The server didn't know what gluten free was and after going back to check to see if they could accommodate, she came back and I sad I could have anything without bread. Didn't instill much confidence. I had a hamburger without the bun and seemed okay but now I'm having problems several hours later. This restaurant should be removed from the list.
No
I would not recommend this restaurant for gluten free, there is no dedicated fryer or gluten free menu. I had a bunless burger and side salad and have been sick since.
No
Came here on the recommendation of the other reviewer, the server neither knew or cared to know what items were GF. She said the fries and burger "should be okay." Enough for me to stay away from everything but the fries which were in a dedicated fryer. However, they didn't set right so I feel like the potatoes might have some sort of hidden wheat starch or something. Anyway, I wouldn't go back.
No
Dedicated fryer for both fries & tortilla chips ! Many GF options. Knowledgable server. Just ask!
