Although I'm confident it's not gluten making me sick here- it's all the fatty sauces, I just can't understand why anyone likes this place. I live so close, it would be the easiest place to meet people and enjoy dinner. But no matter what GF dish I order, I can't eat but a few bites before the fat is separating on the dish and I'm grossed out. So in a pinch I would go here because it's celiac safe but the food is sooo overpriced even as a New Yorker who loves her food and is willing to pay for it.

Be careful! The GF menu has items with the same exact names as the non-GF menu. I ordered from the GF menu, but they brought me something battered and fried; they agreed it was full of gluten, and the GF version was supposed to be roasted, not fried. We're not sure at what point the mistake was made, so take extra precaution when ordering. I also advised them to name the GF version "roasted..." and the regular "fried..." on the respective menus to avoid confusion, but a glance at the menu recently showed they didn't take my suggestion.

I ordered the chips and table guacamole because they said they were fried in a separate fryer. I also had a patron silver margarita and the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. By the time the check came I was in pain. So, not sure what did it. Maybe just CC. But, it's really a shame.

My favorite gluten free place. It's always books so go in advance. I'm a super sensitive celiac and I've never gotten sick from them. Mexican food is naturally gluten friendly. Not sure what other reviewer is talking about with pasta water Bc rosa doesn't serve pasta. I'd highly recommend

They have a large gluten free menu but according to our waiter, they take no precautions in the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination. No cleaning of the prep area, GF pasta cooked in water used to cook conventional pasta, etc. It may be a gluten-free menu in terms of ingredients, but that's only a partial consideration for celiacs. Great for marketing, unacceptable for celiac patients.

One if my favorite go-to places when I'm shopping. I have never had an issue. They do have a separate gluten free menu. The enchiladas are great, I would also recommend trying the elotes! Empanadas and flautas are good too. Anything fried has a separate fryer. Corn chips are made in house and safe to eat.

Thanks to the other recommendations I took my family to this restaurant while on vacation in PR. Turns out it was a five minute walk from our hotel and it was the best dinner we've had so far. Almost everything on the menu is already gluten free and the staff all seemed knowledgeable as far as gluten allergies/celiac are concerned. I'm just sorry we didn't find this place sooner.

I was told there was no GF menu, but the staff was knowledgeable (although I did find a GF menu online later!). We ordered the Guacamole en Molcajete, their famous tableside preparation, and it was awesome. I was given corn tortillas and my husband & son were served fried tortillas. I ordered the fajitas for dinner and they were great. The boys enjoyed their dinners as well. Staff was very attentive. They have a separate gluten free menu that has many choices on it. If you're in the DC area and looking for a great lunch or dinner, this is a must eat at place! Enjoy!

Good, but sure it completely depends upon who is your server. Very loud and easy to have misunderstandings. Someone mentioned that there is no wheat on the premises. Pretty sure that is not true. But there are a lot of portions and the fryer is dedicated for the corn chips.

I was here about a month ago and I got really sick for 4 days because of this place. However I don't think I asked for a gluten free menu since we went for happy hour, and I thought the corn chips and guacamole would be fine. I am dairy free too so my choices are even more limited. It's because of how sick I got here that I am now very picky where I eat. Maybe down the road I will give this place another chance but not any time soon.

So.. I'm a food snob. I've traveled a lot. Rome, Anchorage, NYC, the American Southwest... This food may have been the best I've ever had. Top 5 for sure. Michael, our server, was amazing and knowledgeable of being gf. There were maybe 2 things on the regular menu that weren't gf. According to our server, nothing that has gluten goes in the fryer, so the tortilla chips were safe (and super delicious, along with the salsa!!!) The fried plantains were phenomenal and so was everything else. Amazing service, fair prices, outstanding food, and my husband and I (Celiac, and gluten intolerant, respectively) both feel great!!!!

about as pricey as everything else in the area, but good food and great service. the bottomless chips and salsa are gluten free, as are both the bottomless refried black beans and rice that come to the table with your meal, so even if you don't find a lot you enjoy, you can fill up with the freebies. the menu is pretty extensive for gluten free, although not as many vegan options. I had a farmer's market vegetable fajita that was deliciously seasoned and a fairly large serving, and a side of fried plantains as well, also delicious, with the dairy on the side. their sangria was excellent as well. I definitely plan to come back here next year.

The serving staff was quite knowledgeable about the needs of a Celiac diner. I was advised that just to be on the safe side, I could have corn tortillas rather than the chips when the guacamole was served, even though the chips are considered gluten free. I'd definitely recommend the guacamole- freshly prepared tableside. The gluten free menu had many options. The chile relleno I selected had a crispy delicate batter- and was prepared in a dedicated fryer. A rare treat! I would feel safe eating here again, and the tequila flight was a revelation in flavor. Good experience.
