The cashier had no idea they even had a gluten free menu. When I asked if she could notify the cook about my allergy she said no. I ordered off the gluten free menu online and then later got sick.

I have Celiac's disease and had a horrible experience at this Rubio's today. I ordered their grande bowl and made sure the ingredients I chose did not contain gluten. I also explained to the cashier that I have a wheat allergy (easier than explaining Celiacs) and that I needed them to be careful in preparing my food. When I received my food, I noticed that there was no acknowledgement of a wheat allergy on my receipt or on the order slip. I went to talk to the manager and he basically said none of my chosen ingredients had gluten and that they didn't need to notify the food preparer about my allergy. I know there are cross contamination risks when eating out, but if the person preparing the food has no idea someone has an allergy, they will not take any precautions to help prevent cross contamination. Even though my kids love their food, I am very disappointed in Rubios and will not be going back. The most disturbing part was the manager's lack of concern for either my safety or any one else's.

I watch what I order here, but I've not had any issues. Only order items grilled, on corn, however their chicken is NOT gluten free. They do have a list on their website and on site.

They fry gluten foods in the same fryer as the items they say are gf. They don't take precaution on cross contamination on the grill.

Food is good and portion sizes are reasonable. the chicken is not gluten free so be careful when ordering. my favorite is the tiniest street tacos. I can get 3 and the whole meal is only 300 calories!

Very nice, we told them we couldn't do the quesadillas on wheat so they substituted 2 on corn and gave us two sides with the kids' meals since we couldn't do the churro. Kids were happy, and so were the parents. The fish tacos are great!

Since this is a GF review app, I have to give Rubio's 1 star. Every time I eat here, I react to gluten (even though I order GF items). The problem is that everything is cross-contaminated here, *especially* their chips.

Those with celiac disease should beware. Note on their GF menu that their rice and chips are cooked in fryers used for other menu items that contain gluten. In 2004 their corporate office wrote that their flat grills are used to heat both flour and corn tortillas. Be sure to ask questions!

It seems that the full ingredient list is on the cash register screen, so even if the staff person is unfamiliar with your allerg he will read out all the ingredients to you. I had shrimp tacos and substituted corn for flour tortillas and they were great.
