They no longer accommodate keeping people safe from cross contamination. I had to leave after sitting down because the waiter couldn’t tell me what was gluten free very clearly and then the manger came and apologized profusely but said they literally will not change gloves, won’t use separate cooking supplies or any of the things we need as celiacs to stay safe because of some incident they had at their San Francisco location. It made no sense but she said they basically refuse to change gloves etc. I’d eaten here before safely and this was news to me so it’s no longer safe.

Great experience! Waiter was knowledgeable, brought out my food separately, and gave me GF tamari. No cross contamination! I’m very sensitive and this place was great

I have eaten here three times without getting sick. The menus are clearly marked, and the staff seems to really understand.

Our waiter, Louie, was very familiar with Celiac’s. He informed us of all the gluten free menu items, plus other items the kitchen could prepare gluten free for us. He even brought a bottle of tamari for the table instead of shoyu (soy sauce). So relieved I almost cried.

I love this place, and especially my waiter Louis for tonight was great, brought me own tamari without being asked, and has a sister with celiac so he understood about cross contamination. Highly recommend the black miso cod.

Before being diagnosed celiac, this was our favorite sushi bar in the area. Luckily, we can still eat here after celiac diagnosis! Order things off the menu regularly and they have a separate, dedicated gluten free prep area to eliminate cross contamination.

Great food and options clearly marked on the menu, but sushi roll options somewhat limited. The server did NOT inspire confidence.
First time I went, I felt funny afterward; the server then had not inspired confidence -- absent-minded and very much about fad diet gluten-freeness.
Second time, the server was excellent, paying great and extensive attention to our table (not just me), going out of his way to explain options to me. I was fine the next day, so I'm bumping the restaurant up.
Note: I have a wheat allergy, not celiac. I love Asian food, so we are always looking for good options in the area. Awesome to learn that Sasa has a GF menu and carries tamari so I don't have to bring my own. The knowledge of servers can be inconsistent, but most items we have tried have been excellent. Sushi is typical for the area (acceptable, but nothing to rave about...much better when you pass on all the mayo-based sauces). The entrees are solid.
