Really good food but you have to tell them that you need to to tell then that you need to Gluten Free and do not assume anything is Gluten Free. Example: corn chips are cross contaminated. Ouch!
Update: they no longer have a dedicated frier. I have no idea when this changed. We don't eat there anymore. Man, I'm really torn on this one. I like the food, non-GMO corn, organic rice & beans, chips supposedly cooked in a dedicated frier. But super sensitive Celiac hubby reacts every 2/3 times we eat here. He pretty much ALWAYS orders steak nachos. I know they fire the nachos in the same stone oven thing that they cook their flour tortilla based pizzas in so maybe that is the source of the CC. My son hasn't had any problems after eating here but he pretty much only gets rice, black beans & broccoli. Another reviewer says the brown rice is not safe, but I thought both types of rice were GF... Guess I need to double check.
Shakey's has some plates that are naturally GF, and that gave a GF menu. If you are really sensitive don't get the corn tortillas, they are cooked on the same surface as flour. Employees have no idea what gluten is so I tell them I have an allergy to "white flour" and that works. Food is really good.
Very tasty. Staff was pretty knowledgable and very helpful in finding out answers that they didn't know.
Great menu. Does not have gluten free on menu, but manager was very helpful and let me know what was OK to eat. I had stacked chicken enchiladas which were quite tastee! Manager told me chips were safe...they were yummy. Will go again. Would give 5 stars if menu was labeled so I didn't have to wonder if manager really knew what he was talking about...other than that, food was terrific!!
Had the Naked Chicken Fajita Bowl with no tortilla. It was very tasty and plenty of food - in fact, I would ask for 1/2 the rice next time. At time of order the Cashier let me know that their corn chips are fried in community oil, so that I knew not to order them. Food was quality and servers/service was excellent. Super impressed and highly recommend this particular restaurant location for a gluten-free dining experience.
Their grilled salmon was delicious and fresh; the manager said the grill is cleaned for every order. Do not get bbq sauce on salmon as it has gluten. Their Mexican rice, beans, yams, and steamed veggies are gf. The grilled veggies and brown rice are not safe to eat. The manager was friendly and understanding. Food was tasty and fresh. If you are casein intolerant, makes sure to tell them no cheese on beans and no butter on salmon. $
