A longtime refuge -- gone. Since the Fall of 2011, ShopHouse has served as a trusted second-kitchen, a refuge, for so many sufferers of Celiac Disease and gluten sensitivities. ShopHouse was always there when I found myself getting home late from work and no desire to cook or opening the fridge with no food to cook. The menu was not only safe, but good. Really, really good. This summer, ShopHouse released a line of spring rolls, which contain gluten -- ShopHouse's first gluten-containing menu item. These items are handled by the same gloves, same serving canisters, and same utensils as the rest of the otherwise gluten-free menu. Even worse, the spring rolls are displayed on the line with all of their otherwise safe menu items. The staff, nor management have not received any training to help them understand how to safely handle gluten within the restaurant, greatly increasing the chance of cross-contamination. ShopHouse is no longer that confidently safe refuge for the many Celiac Disease sufferers throughout the Greater Washington area.

We stopped in for a quick lunch and loved it! The entire menu is GF and dairy free. It is an Asian version of Chipotle (owned by the same company). The staff was very helpful and my son was thrilled to eat safely.

I'm gluten, dairy and soy free and I could eat everything in the menu except for tofu!! Portions are nice and large, even a mango/rice/coconut dessert! Very affordable too. Meal and dessert for under $10. Watch out as many items can be spicy. Ask for mild options if needed.

Everything really is gluten free and dairy free here! We are super sensitive and never got sick. This place is wonderful because it's delicious, quick and cheap. Highly recommend and wish we had one where we live. Also, you can have dessert (mango coconut). The meatballs were exceptional. We were worried by other reviews that this would be too spicy but they helped us choose items and we did not think it was too spicy. We ate their twice on our recent trip to DC. The first time we didn't add any of the GF DF sauces; the second time we added the mildest sauce and it was a little spicy but not too spicy ... it was delicious.

Entire menu is gluten and dairy free so cross-contamination is nonexistent. Choose between a rice/noodle/salad bowl and then proceed to add toppings "Chipotle-style." Loved my chicken bowl with green curry sauce, pickled vegetables and brown rice which was flavorful and fresh. They have options for vegans which are noted on their menu. Everything is gluten free like rice noodles. Even the meatballs are made with egg instead of bread crumbs. Might not be good for people that don't like spice. Many items are high in sodium.

Had rice, meatballs and veggies along with a rice pudding dessert! All very delicious. Bummed to hear that they now have gluten in the facility. Not sure if we'd go back or not because of that. However, we did not get sick. Hopefully they have processes in place to prevent cross-contamination.

**No Longer Dedicated GF!!** I am so sad. The service here is wonderful. The employees are kind and helpful. BUT...I can no longer take my son here and not worry about him getting sick. They used to be 100% GF. Then the added spring rolls, but not too risky. Now they also make wraps right on the edge of the counter in front of all the food. HUGE cross contamination risk!! Why did you do this ShopHouse? Now I realize it's not Celiacs that you were catering to. Again, this is not a reflection on the staff or the taste of the food.

I have been excited to eat at this chain for months, and was very confident in the number of people who voted this restaurant as celiac friendly, HOWEVER... I'm not sure what happened on my visit here, but I got VERY ill immediately afterwards. I did not eat anything else in between my meal here and when I started feeling symptoms, so this place was definitely the culprit. I started to get a slight DH (dermatitis herpetiformis) reaction as I was finishing my meal which tipped me off that more trouble was probably around the corner :( I wound up with extreme fatigue, brain fog, and general disorientation that put me completely out of commission for at least 5 hours. I've given it a two star rating only because the food was good (until it got me sick) and reasonably priced (if you don't wind up ruining your day over it), and the service was good. Unfortunately through, I wouldn't recommend this for anyone who is very sensitive until the company can provide a safe dining experience for their customers with celiac disease at ALL times. *I have severe celiac disease, and am sensitive to anything containing more than 10 ppm (parts per million), also very sensitive to cross contamination.*

I asked if a menu item was gluten free and the two people behind the counter looked at each other and said "I don't know", so I choose a menu item that I knew would not make me sick. Great food, super fresh and the spice was on the money. Simplified menu that is full of flavor and variety. We will be back for sure👍

Very Chipotle-like as its owned by the same company. Ate here for dinner. EVERYTHING is gluten free on the food line. We had a variety of things - steak, chicken, pork meatballs as well as a few sauces - peanut, green curry and tamarind. Everything was delicious. Only weird thing is you could only get cold rice noodles, not hot. But the rice (white and brown) were hot and good. My very sensitive Celiac daughter had no reaction. We would definitely go back and definitely find other locations.
