ThIs Slater's is CLOSED.
I got food poisoning here, spent Memorial Day throwing up. I do not have celiacs, this was just poor food handling. They tell anyone with GF sensitivity that they use the same oil for everything which isn't helpful at all.
I've been here many times and the gf chicken sand and hamburger are excellent. They use Udi's buns which are very tasty and have a good texture. I recommend the custom build your own. Staff is friendly but the place is super busy on weekends.
instantly sick in restaurant. cross contamination
Didn't see gluten-free buns at this location so I got a wrap. A stupidly expensive wrap. Which was only okay. Plus they were stingy with expensive additional toppings and the service was awful. She was nice but she just never came around our table. I would come here again to try a salad, but I know we're all super tired of salads being our only gluten-free restaurant options. I didn't get sick or anything, but I can make a better and cheaper wrap at home.
I was initially excited because they had a gluten free menu. I had even called ahead to make sure. This restaurant was listed for OC Restaurant week and my friend wanted to take me out. When we got there, our server wasn't very knowledgeable about items for the regular menu and she had to check on a few things for us. We put in our order and my appetizer arrived with chips which was not what was listed on the menu. Because I know most fryers aren't dedicated we asked if the chips were used with other fried foods and we were told no (this person was not our initial server). About an hour after I left I started getting bloated and uncomfortable which is one of my signs I have eaten gluten. I called and spoke with the manager who then had to check with her kitchen manager about the chips. She said the chips have their own designated dryer but did comment that the appetizer I ordered on the gluten free menu was only offered with veggies. She apologized and asked if I was okay. I told her I would be okay, that hopefully I didn't consume enough to be a big problem. I gave this review a 3 star rating because the gluten free bun with my burger was very tasty and everything did taste delicious. I have read fabulous reviews for other restaurants in this chain, so maybe we just got a new server? Definitely ask to talk to a chef at this location, or a manager if you have celiac disease.
Great burgers with Udi's gluten free buns. However our server said the fries were gf and they weren't. I only ate 4 fries but I got sick.
They have great burgers with gf options plus they have gf beer! I'm a happy camper 👍
They have a gluten-free menu but are very uneducated about allergies. I have two allergies and when the waiter came back after asking the kitchen he kept saying I couldn't eat any of the items. He apologized for not knowing the difference between gluten and dairy.
Do not expect 5star service, it's not that type of place. It's a very loud sports bar setting with amazingly yummy food. Our waiter was great, & did his best to ensure we had a good dining experience. That said... I ordered the breakfast burrito burger from the gluten free menu. It came with a hash brown on it that I was told (at the last minute)was fried in a non dedicated fryer. I am guessing that the fries we ordered & ate probably weren't done in a dedicated fryer either. Had there been a dedicated fryer available, it probably would have been used for my hash brown. This is a HUGE cross contamination issue. Our whole family is very sensitive to gluten & we prob shouldn't have eaten there, as we are definitely feeling the effects. While they do have a gluten free menu, fries & other items on that menu are actually cross contaminated. BIG no-no. Wish I could leave a better review, because the flavor was awesome.
I was extremely disappointed. The staff had no idea about anything being gluten free.
Gluten free menu, server was very knowledgeable. Ordered straight off the #gf menu, did the lettuce wrapped burger and nothing fried since fryer is shared. Got super sick. :( Seems some people get lucky, but I wasn't one of them. Avoid if you have a gluten allergy.
Gluten Free menu is great & they carry gf beer. You do have to make sure to tell them GF when ordering, and specify which parts of the burger need to be excluded-can't eat the fries there b/c it is a shared fryer-if you spell everything out for them you will be fine. We eat here all the time and my husband has never gotten sick.
AMAZING!!! I'm a Celiac and am usually really really weary of eating out, but I'll eat here without a second thought. After I came here once about a month ago, I've been back several times. No extra charge for gluten free, and everything is reasonably priced considering how expensive beef is right now. They have pear, cherry and apple ciders (YUM). I've had the BBB bacon burger and the old timey both on Udi's buns and they were amazing!! I also had the artichoke cheese dip appetizer and nearly freaked out when it came with bread for dipping... but it was actually a sliced & toasted Udi's bun and it was amazing!! I cant wait to eat my way through the gluten free menu... definitely a favorite. =)
I was extremely excited to try this place because of the GF menu. The burger was just ok. Our waiter knew nothing of GF. The service here was horrible. We couldn't get our drinks refilled and we had to keep asking for our order of fries which we didn't get until our burgers were almost done. its ok if the waiter didn't have much GF knowledge, but at least be friendly. I doubt we'll go back.
Delicious burgers and milkshakes. Our waiter, Alex, was the best. The staff was very aware of gluten free, they even have a dedicated menu. I have straight up Celiac Disease, and I didn't get sick at all, not even a tiny headache. I got the BBB Bacon Burger. It was so good! I also ordered a side of fries, delicious as well, and shared a milkshake with my husband. We got the Graceland Milk shake. So creamy. I died and went to food heaven! The experience all around was excellent. I almost wish we lived in Pasadena.
