Awesome burger on gluten free bun! So great to eat a burger out and on a bun!!!
This place is great. Not only will they do a bunless burger for you (yeah, that sounds odd, but you cut it up like a ground steak), but they also have a gluten free bun for like a buck or two more. However, if you get it, I would suggest that you ask for extra sauce as it is a touch dry... or, at least, dryer than a regular bun.
Gf buns available. As with Mighty Fine, go with the bigger burger, or the puffy gf bun is too much bread for the meat. The rosemary fries are good.
Nope if you want a salad sure but no burgers are GF here.
Just ate there and they carry Udi's buns. The cheeseburger had a good taste and the fries are yummy too. I ordered GF but the order came with a gluten bun, they took it back and brought out a GF cheeseburger and apologized. Might be good to make sure when you order it is understood. But the food was tasty. 1st visit,so if I react I will add to this review.
Amazing and aware
They have Udi's buns!
Yes they serve Udi's gluten free buns but they completely ruin them by toasting them in the same machine for regular buns. That's not gluten free at all. What's the point of acquiring a contract with Udi's (a dedicated gluten free facility) and not even bother to have a separate toaster? Way to cheap out. I'm grateful to the cashier who was bright enough to advise me about the cross-contamination.
Smashburger now offers gluten-free buns for their burgers (Udi's -- $1 extra). We were also able to eat their fries and sweet potato fries. Both were yummy and gf! We were told they are done in separate fryers than the battered foods. Both of the gf people in our party ate with no adverse reaction. Yay!
I'm a fan of smashburger and was happy when I heard they were serving UDI's because I'd be able to enjoy it with my Celiac daughter. I guess I should have guessed when the first quote on smashburger's corporate announcement was "Practicing a gluten-free diet is an emerging consumer trend......." that they were not aiming at those with Celiac disease. The manager was helpful and grasped the cross-contamination concept. However, they are not set up to address the issue. They warm their bread in a toaster shared with regular bread, so we had to get the bread not toasted. I'm pretty sure the grill has is shared with non gluten free items as well. The manager said they would clean up a separate section of the grill and cook her burger separately. He said only the sweet potato fries were gluten free, but that they shared the fryer with non-gluten free items. I appreciate the help we got from the manager in getting a tasty burger, but really wish the corporate side would help getting things set up for gluten-free choices. I'm also concerned that if we go again, we may get a manager that's not as helpful.
Recently partnered with Udis for GF buns. Changed spice mix on burgers and chicken sandwiches to be GF. Fries are prepared in a specific fryer to avoid cross contamination. Cashier was knowledgable on their processes and ingredients. Ask them to not toast the bun if you are concerned about cross contamination since the toaster is shared with regular buns.
My husband and I were excited to try Smash Burger. I walked in and asked if they had a gluten free menu and they said no, but could help me with gluten free information. They then proceeded to tell me that all the burgers and chicken had gluten in them (even though they offer gluten free buns) so I could have a salad. I asked about the fries and was told they were gluten free but upon looking on their website realized that they were prepared in the same area therefore cross contamination was a risk. Very disappointed.
