Awesome burger on gluten free bun! So great to eat a burger out and on a bun!!!
Delicious AND gluten free!! I was so excited - this was our first time wrong at Smashburger. The food was delicious - separate fryer for the delicious fries and I got to try both sweet potato and regular fries. They have a separate place to toast the Udi's buns and they were very careful cleaning the grill before they made my chicken. I had the chicken sandwich with goat cheese, spinach, avocado and cucumbers and could not be happier.
Update - Sadly, this restaurant closed in September 2016!!!! We have now eaten here 3 times in the last few weeks. Our celiac daughter has not had any problems. They have Udi's buns. They act like they get it. It has never been really busy we when go which helps I think too. My daughter and I both always have the bacon cheeseburger with an Udis bun and regular fries. Only thing my daughter is missing here is some Ken's ranch to dip her fries. Next time we may bring our own!
I had a 'regular' burger today (vs the 'big burger') on a GF bun. The burger was disappointingly thin and nothing special. I was very disappointed that I couldn't have the fries after reading previous reviews on this website that indicated otherwise. The fries do not have a dedicated fryer and are contaminated with breaded chicken etc. If I return, I'll try the BIG burger to see if it is more filling.
Great burger. Awesome sweet potato fries. Udi 's GF bun available. A bit overpriced in my opinion, but not so bad that I'll stop eating here. Update- the food here is still great, but the manager informed me that the dedicated fryer for the GF items was accidentally contaminated recently by an employee. Don't know if it was due to naïveté, a lack of training, or inattention to detail, but it happened. I would insure that the fryer has been properly drained and cleaned before eating here.
I have celiac disease and a severe dairy intolerance. I went in today to get a burger risking that stomach ache I usually get when I eat out from cross contamination. When I asked the girl at the register to put an allergy alert on my burger she very clearly explained to the guy in the kitchen to change gloves and avoid the butter. The manager overheard this and personally went back to oversee how my burger was cooked and brought it out to me. I was so grateful for his care and concern. I ate the burger and didn't get a stomach ache so I know it was made properly. Very happy! I went during a quite time in the day. I highly recommend not going during the dinner/lunch rush if you are dealing with a food allergy.
I am celiac and have eaten here several times, I always tell them severe gluten allergy and ask them to prevent cross contamination. I haven't gotten sick after eating here..the fries are fried separately and are gluten free. the Udis buns are good, I avoid the smash sauce or anything out of the ordinary since they aren't sure. will go back again.
Gluten free buns are always a nice option as I hate lettuce wraps. The chicken sandwiches are my favorite. While the chicken and burgers are good I only gave it three stars because of the lack of GF fries and I have had some cross contamination here.
I have been to Smashburger before and they always do a great job, they always ask when I Order GF if it is a allergy or preference, I've never been sick, and the burgers are great! But my last visit was awful! They did not mark my burger, so when I got home I could not tell which burger was mine or my gluten eater husband.... So no burger for me! At least I had my smash fries! But when I was almost to the bottom I took a bite of (a very tasty) onion ring! I dumped them out and there was a good 5 to 6...... I knew it was going to be a rough week, So I called the manager to let him know.... All he said was, that he was sorry and that there was a new guy in the kitchen, And we can't guarantee... They do have a dedicated fryer, I ask every time! He could have cared less! So Sad!
Offers Udi's Gluten Free buns. Server was familiar with our GF needs and even knew to avoid toasting the GF bun to avoid cross-contamination. Those with a more serious sensitivity or full blown Celiac may be safer eating at the Chipotle next door but as bad as my sensitivity is, I have no complaints. It's nice to have options when eating out.
Do not go here, completely untrained staff for gluten free. The gluten free option is only for "diet" gluten free
Great gluten free options including burgers on Udi's buns. I've ordered burgers and chicken here and have never gotten sick. Fries are fried in a separate fryer than onion rings. The manager was great at going over options with me. Very happy with this restaurant!
This place is absolutely not celiac friendly! They do offer Udi's GF buns, but that is it. No one, including the store manager was aware what gluten intolerance or celiac was, and even though I ordered the gluten-free bun and you could see it on the order screen, they still made it on reg bread. I kindly ask that they remake the entire burger and they looked at me like I had two heads, but then made it again. The entire burger which I had confirmed had no other gluten on it, was covered in French fried onions. They do not have a dedicated fryer either. I recommend you avoid this restaurant.
Went to the smashburgers on 104th near Denver. 2/3 GF orders came with haystack onions (fried with breaking) vs fried onions. Staff readily corrected the order and remade the burgers (but had to wait quite a bit bc they were busy). We went with family of 5 at 6:30 pm and food came at different times (even those waiting for regular menu food).Food was good esp. After day of rafting. All the fries were yummy (reg & sweet potatoes) try them smash-style olive oil, rosemary and garlic. No one got sick and eventually all orders remade. Staff polite and apologetic. Just remember Double check your receipt for FRIED onions and not haystack onions. 4 stars for food, 1 star off bc of mixed up orders and delay in getting food to us.
Stopped here along the way on a family road trip. When I asked about gluten free offerings, inquired about the dedicated fryer, the guy taking my order rolled his eyes at me. Needless to say, my daughter and I just had burgers. The burgers were okay, I was just looking forward to gluten free veggie frites.
Part of out order didn't make it to us, salad didn't come with dressing and they didn't know what was gluten free, so they said all sides were not. Paid a lot of money for messed up food, missing food and total confusion. Will not be coming back, plenty of better places for that price.
Great place. Gluten free bun. I ordered it untoasted because of the other reviews but the manager stepped in and said he would toast it on a separate grill! Was very impressed about that! Fries were done in a separate frier and the energy in the place was great. I will be back, regularly.
great GF experience! the manager Ashley went out of her way to reassure me that they take every precaution to make sure I had a safe meal. The grilled chicken was tender, the GF UDI's was soft, and the sweet potato fries from the dedicated fryer were delicious! Ashley made sure my mayonnaise was from an unopened bottle. my dining companion also ordered gluten free. He had the BBQ burger with bacon and cheddar cheese. Ashley said to make it gluten free they had to take off the "haystacks," which is fried onion straws. Make sure to ask to speak to Ashley or another manager when ordering.
only tried to eat here once, but the staff and manager I spoke with had no clue what gluten was. I hope it was a small lull in their training, since others had better experiences, but I'm not sure if it's worth trying again any time soon. twisted root and grub are not too far away and my experiences there have been better.
They have Udis buns! Cross contamination is a possibility but I've had no problems so far. I'm not full blown celiac but if you are, you should keep that in mind. The Udis buns are WAY better than the ones you get from the grocery store! Always super fresh and soft!
Great burgers! Great shakes! Knowledgeable staff, when I asked about the fries she double checked in a folder at the counter. She asked if we had allergies and then added it to the system. They took the issue seriously and without any eye rolling.
