NOT GLUTEN FREE!!! Maybe they were having an off day when we drove by, but I used my Nima sensor to test the food individually and none of it came back gluten free except the beans. We tested the PORK RIBS, BEEF BRISKET, POTATO PANCAKE, COLLARD GREENS AND SWEET BARBEQUE SAUCE.

Could not eat any of my meal. Very disappointed. I verified with them 3 times that it was gluten free, 2 times over the phone and once again in person.

I’m a sensitive celiac and dread going out to eat and because of that there are very few restaurants that I would recommend for a celiac. However, the staff at SoDoSoPa was very knowledgeable of celiac disease and were very patient with me as I inundated them with questions and concerns. The chef even came out to speak with me and went over all the items that they make in house that are gf. This establishment was amazing!!! I wish we lived closer because I’d eat there often!

Had a great meal here. All of the meat is GF, as well as the sauces. Good range of sides are GF as well. If you have a soy sensitivty you will want to ask about that. Dedicated fryer for fries and tater tots! Great stop and great service!

First time I've been at a restaurant and felt like I wasn't "that ONE with the food restrictions" It was 8pm on Saturday night and after a 12 hour day of driving my husband and I found a hotel for the night and through "Find me Gluten Free". found this little gem in a small downtown area of Smithfield NC. The restaurant has a small dining area and a bar that has people eating , drinking , laughing. We sat at the bar and Jessica was our delightful bartender. She went through everything on the menu and basically there are two apps that can't be made GF. We still had 5-6 other apps to choose from. The chicken wings were so tasty that we needed to make a concerted effort to pace ourselves for our dinner which came with the sides we picked of collard greens and tater tots. Those delicious tots were golden crunchy on the outside with that hot potato filling inside. The meal was accompanied with 2 slices of toasted white bread ( that you swear it can't be GF; it's so delicious) The manager Ian came over to say hello and explained to us how seriously he takes his GF offerings. He wanted to make sure our meal was good. It was more than good!!The BBQ'd meats of chicken, ribs, pulled pork and brisket had to have been slow cooked with such patience as to keep it juicy on the inside and the appropriate outside as in the crisp outside skin of chicken. Also on the menu was six or so paninis , burgers with bread for the roll and not the usual "just ask for no bun if you're GF". We were so full of a delicious dinner we had no room for desert which never happens to me. Jessica was great to come out with a to go box since we didn't finish dinner. I can't wait to eat those leftovers. So if you're in the area head over for a delicious down home BBQ...and if you're not in the area , make it a destination !

Wonderful little spot in the heart of a cute downtown area. The friendly staff and managers did a wonderful job walking us through the menu. Most items can be made gluten free and with their dedicated fryer the tater tots are delicious. We will be here a few more days and I think we may have to visit this neighborhood spot again before we head home.

My wife recently found that gluten was the cause of many dietary issues for her. We hesitate to eat out due to claims of gluten free that were not true. The staff was excellent and helped assure my wife that her order was truly gluten free. Loaded tots to start and a complete meal and no gluten or cross contamination! Highly recommended and we will be back often.

GF bread was really nice a thinner Texas toast style on my husbands sandwich. Good not great food. Would dine here again. Felt good after! Blueberry BBQ sauce our favorite on the brisket. At first my South Park (tv show) loving husband had trouble believing I was serious about this restaurant's name, but we proved it with a delicious visit. He has celiac and I'm an ovo-lacto vegetarian and we both went away satiated and happy. If driving through North Carolina on 95, adjust your timing to make this a food stop. Classic, delicious southern cuisine with welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable service in a clean and comfortable environment, located in the heart of a quaint small NC town. We can confirm along with other reviewers that they have a dedicated fryer for French fries, gluten free bread options, and an understanding staff. We stopped for lunch but noticed they have a full bar; not sure about GF beers or ciders as we didn't look at that menu.
