I was in Dallas Ft worth international airport Monday May 19th 2014. I was excited when I read the good reviews for the TGI Fridays in both terminal A and C but I went to the on in terminal D. I didn't have time to sit and eat there so I placed a togo order and when I asked the person working the togo counter how they prepare a gluten free burger (because the menu doesn't say) she told me: "I don't know, I put in gluten free and it comes out gluten free". I told her that this is an allergy for me thinking that they have a code or button for that so they know to change out all of the cutting boards, knives and such but she just kept repeating that she puts gluten free in and it comes out gluten free. I should have walked away at that point but I took the gamble that the people in the back knew what they where doing. When my burger came out with fries I should have left the food and gotten my money back but I didn't have time to go anywhere else. I told her to take out the fries and then I cut the part of the burger off that was touching the fries. I still got sick, I got really sick, I'm still sick from it and its been 4 days. That was the worst glutening I've had in a while. Maybe their regular wait staff know what their doing but their togo people sure don't or maybe I just got their most incompetent employee (she thought wheat was gluten free)
Huge selection and yummy
Located at Gate 13 in redesigned Terminal A. 4 GF steaks and 1 GF pork ribs to choose from. Also about 6 sides. Menu identifies other top 8 allergens in menu items too. I had just enough time (40 min) to have ribs, ginger slaw, and mashed potatoes. Server advised steak would take too long before boarding my flight. Yummy, quick service, friendly staff.
This is my 2nd time there, and it was worse than the first. Last time I had a GF bun. The menu said they don't have buns anymore. I ordered a half rack of ribs, which was good. I asked the server if the fries and coleslaw were GF. She said "obviously the fries are because it's a starch" and then she said "but everything is cooked with everything" so it truly is gluten sensitive and not GF. As a celiac, that made me feel like I couldn't have anything there...and just because it's a starch doesn't mean it's GF...the seasoning on the fries could be troublesome. I don't trust the servers, and the GF menu has become GS, and they have fewer options, and they don't pay much attention to CC. I won't be going there again or to any other TGIFs in the country. 2 stars instead of 1 because the food tasted good and I didn't get sick, luckily. But I'd be rolling the dice by going back.
NO star. Went for lunch today with my husband. First time since I was diagnosed with celiac disease in March. Had GF menu. Ordered GF cheeseburger from their menu. Bun seemed much fluffier then I thought it should have been but thought maybe they really got this covered. Started to eat it immediately didn't feel well. Asked waitress if she was sure she ordered me the gluten free cheeseburger. She assured me that she did. Thank goodness I cut burger in half only ate some of the half of bun. Just wasn't confident in her response. When we received our check it stated cheeseburger. Nothing at all about being GF. My husband asked to speak with manager. After manager and my husband spoke he stated he could not confirm with the waitress or chef that the burger I got was gluten free. Bottom line don't offer gluten free options until you educate you staff members to the importance of the ordering and handling of gluten free food. We will NOT BE RETURNING!
This is an airport chain restaurant so I didn't expect a whole lot but I found a friendly greeting and a friendly waitress. I also found a decent GF menu and no problems with my order. The GF bun used here with the turkey burger was better than most. All in all a very good airport experience for some one with a GF diet.
Knowledgeable and helpful staff. They allowed substitutions on the kids' menu without extra charge for our son who has celiac. Waitress was able to answer all of our questions without having to double check - she knew what sides were safe and which were not. Good experience and tasty food options.
The GF choices are SEVERELY limited. I would not recommend unless you are in a pinch
Good food. Waiter handled our table well with Soy and Gluten issues. He neglected to mention at any time during our questioning, repeat returns to the table with answers, etc, that there are GF buns available for the burgers. No where on the 'gluten sensitive' menu does it say there are gluten free buns available. Needless to say, I freaked out when my gf burger arrived on a bun. Celiac friendly.
GF items marked in menu. But talk to your server, very knowledgeable and willing to work with you ex:chicken wings baked not fried. Great tasting food & no GI issues. We ate their twice during our stay.
We have eaten here for years, but now with my Celiac diagnosis I had many questions about the GF menu. Manager was nice, but clueless. GF menu serves Ghirardelli chocolate sauce... All my research and good friends with CD have said it is not GF. When I mentioned it, his answer was "it must be, it's on the menu." Made me seriously doubt the rest of the items on the menu like their GF Caesar salad.
While I did receive and order from the gluten sensitive menu, my server still brought my side salad out with croutons on it. I don't think he was particularly knowledgable about gluten, so you may have to over-communicate your needs. My actual dinner entree was fine. Service was slow despite the restaurant being fairly empty.
Was very impressed by the extensive gf menu! Several options, and even gf beer!
I've gone here many times and have gotten the sizzling chicken and shrimp and was happy with the service. However on one occasion I decided to get a salad, I informed the waiter that Im gluten free Celiac and that I cannot eat the croutons. He brought out the salad everything looked fine until I took a bite....there were croutons hidden under the salad, lets just say I was very very angry. The manger eventually came over and said there was a mix up with someone else's salad and apologized. An apology is not enough for me, knowing how much pain ill be in later. You can't make mistakes like that with celiac's and im very disappointed. If you do go there get the slizzing chicken and shrimp not a salad
Decent GF menu with steak, burgers, ribs, chicken and sides.
Complete gluten free and lactose free menus. Only manager allowed to take order and bring food. Staff and kitchen clean down and change utensils before making your food.
Absolute worst dining experience since being diagnosed with Celiac. Ordered a GF burger, when it was delivered I thought it looked too "normal." Asked if it was the gluten free burger, "yes." Assumed I was overthinking it and that the staff would know better than I would. Wrong. Ate half the burger before realizing it was NOT GF. Thanks TGI Fridays for poisoning me. The servers excuse was "well, honestly I have no idea what gluten is. I'm not sure what makes the gluten free different to the regular." When I told her she had essentially poisoned me? "I'll have them make you another burger." Complete lack of knowledge and training, and definite lack of tact and compassion. Unfortunately, even the kitchen manager didn't seem too knowledgable. Continuously questioned me on "so when will you get sick?" Have had great experiences at other TGI's but this one is awful.
The food from the gluten sensitive menu was good. They even have gf buns and my celiac son had no issues (we went out with a large group to celebrate the life of a loved one that just passed, thus my house hold was limited to where we ate). They do specify that they cannot guarantee gf, but we had no residual reactions so they did well this visit. It was great to have a burger with bread and not bun less!
Gfree menu is not huge, but is very good. They have a chicken dish with cheese on it that comes to table sizzling on iron skillet and tastes amazing. I try not to eat dairy, so I will get their steak and bakesd potato and bring my own earth balance substitute. You can get gfree beer as well
Gluten free notated on menu. Our waitress was a dietician and seemed knowledgable.
Do not eat here if you have Celiac disease. I ordered a gluten free burger and my friend ordered a regular burger. My bun was the same as his!! It was absolutely not gluten free. The manager said sorry but she totally did not understand the danger of this. Don't go here.
Has a handful of options marked on menu and they have a separate GF menu.I got a mild upset stomach after eating the strawberry balsamic salad but I can't know if it was gluten or just something else. It's probably safer to avoid the grilled chicken unless they can discuss an alternative cooking method. They offer gluten free bread but I didn't try it.
