T.H.A.I. In Shirlington

One of my favorite Thai places around. I’ve eaten here many times and have never gotten sick. The menu in the restaurant and online is clearly marked with GF options and with many dishes naturally GF there is not as much risk for cross contamination. Love the pad Thai, lemongrass soup, and chicken basil!

We love T.H.A.I Shirlington and eat there 1-2 times a month. The Pad See Ew with chicken is gluten free, Celiaic safe, very flavorful, and delicious. They are knowledgeable about celiac. I have never gotten sick. The waiters know us and know what we order. Shirlington is a cute town. When the weather is nice, you can eat at a table outside the restaurant.

I’ve only ordered delivery, but both times have been safe. Ordered via Uber and called to confirm GF and flag for the kitchen. Really love the pork fried rice!

Delicious drunken noodles. They messed up by letting me have a sauce I couldn’t have so be sure you be very specific and know where hidden gluten can be. But they do pretty well overall

Oh wow- so good and so many choices. My husband and I split the green curry and the ginger root and broccoli. Both were excellent.

I love THAI in Shirlington! I usually get the drunken noodles with chicken. Eaten here at least 6 times in the past year with no issues.

Waiter was very knowledgeable about cross contamination and checked with the chef. Items were gf marked on menu but fries gf items were not in a dedicated fried and have to be skipped. But there were lots of gf items that we loved.

Update 11/30/21: I get take out or eat in so much that I have a “regular” order…and the staff knows me, haha. Great restaurant. I love how they use gluten free soy sauce. It’s (obviously) my go-to restaurant.

This place is absolutely great. The hostess is very very knowledgeable. The kitchen staff will make your food completely separate. And they do know difference between celiac and people just eating “gluten free”. She said when ordering online you MUST say celiac or not. My opinion is talk on the phone before you place order online. I had chicken pad Thai with shrimp and it was very good. Very nice to know that these people care about allergies and take them seriously.

This was a delicious experience with no negative side effects. The waitress was helpful and the menu had many options for gluten free or gluten optional meals.

I love the chicken fried rice here and get takeout as much as possible! Due to COVID I haven’t been inside the restaurant yet but takeout/delivery have been a dream. Their soy sauce is gluten free and menu is clearly marked with what you can have. My partner enjoys their gluten free and gluten full options immensely as well.

Disclaimer: I am a fairly asymptomatic/non sensitive Celiac. I track this disease not by symptom but via regular celiac antibody blood work and recently had an endoscopy that showed a healed duodenum so I believe that I am careful with what I eat but my experiences may differ from yours.

This Thai place is amazing. I was recently diagnosed with celiac and have to be so careful eating out. I got the Pad Thai and communicated to my server that I had an allergy. I have to say the best Thai food I have eaten, and I did not get sick. Please stop by this gem!

I go out of my way to stop at this restaurant whenever I'm anywhere near Shirlington. The food is great, and they've replaced their soy sauce with tamari so you can get a lot of things that are usually off limits, even at a Thai place that understands GF. Pad see ew, ginger beef with broccoli, etc. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, and you can make notes about allergy concerns when you place an online order for takeout. Last time I did that, when I arrived to pick up my order they had removed an item from the order b/c I thought it was GF but it wasn't. I was so grateful to them for paying attention to my order notes.

They had delicious food! The ginger root beef was particularly good. Note: the frier is shared, and our waitress didn’t say this until we asked. The fried rice was also very good. We had edamame as an appetizer. It was a nice restaurant and the staff were really nice!

It's been so long since I was able to go out for Thai food. My favorite dish, Pad See Ew, was even safe! All dishes are marked clearly on the main menu and they use GF soy sauce in their dishes. Definitely recommend!

It is so nice to be able to dine out safely with my gluten-free son when the whole family can order different entrees (vegetarian entrees, even) and all are GF, so we can share! We're very grateful they've expanded their gluten free selections this year. Great Thai food!
