In September 2013 we spent two weeks in New York and New England, and stopped by this deli on the recommendation of Find Me Gluten Free reviews while driving back to New York to catch our flight back to the UK. I must agree with the other reviewers on here - it's truly exceptional! Not only was my gluten free beef sandwich amazing, but my girlfriend said her regular sandwich was also very good. Eric and the member of staff who was with him that afternoon were very friendly, chatting to us about our visit, gluten-free eating and the deli while we waited for our order. All in all, top marks, and this 5 star review is richly deserved!
Eric is the owner. His wife is a celiac. His sons are G-intolerant. EVERYTHING is Gfree. He bakes bread fresh daily. He also caters, has frozen entrees to-go, and is a darn good chef to boot
It is so refreshing to sit down and eat out or grab food to go with no worries there will be a cross-contamination issue! The lunch specials are tasty, the gluten free baked goods are yummy, there are gluten free chips and snack bars, and the frozen entrees are awesome! When I was pregnant and on activity rest and couldn't cook, I ate the frozen entrees on a regular basis. There are so many options that you don't get sick of them either. Also, they do have VERY reasonable prices for catering and will do special order baking with enough advance notice.
Dedicated prep areas, awesome sandwiches, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff! I've only gotten so far as the breakfast and lunch sandwiches but frozen entrees and other prepared goods look great!
I just enjoyed the daily special. Chicken Piccatta on seasoned rice with garlic butter corn. Unbelievable ! Highly recomended...Gluten Free or not !
Wonderful spot! Great owner who is dedicated to safety and taste! I went out of my way to visit, and I would (& will) again!! I definitely recommend HIGHLY!! It is SO AMAZING to have this option and it feels sooo good to actually be able to order & eat without the usual fear involved!
This deli is worth the trip!!! It's very clean, totally gluten free, friendly and personally knowledgeable about celiac. I had a fantastic chicken cutlet sandwich and fries!! They bake their own bread daily. This is the first time since I was diagnosed that I have eaten out for lunch and I was relaxed and didn't worry about gluten or cross contamination. I felt like I was home without having to cook myself.
simply amazing. such a breath of fresh air to have such a dedicated facility and friendly staff. A++++
This is my new favorite go-to spot! The owner, Erik, really cares about his food and his customers. I took home some pf his homemade gf frozen meals last night and tried the veggie lasagna, which was delicious. Today, I went back for lunch and had a salad with his homemade gf dressing and some delicious homemade chicken curry salad. He offers "normal" and gf deli breakfasts and lunches, so this is a great option for work lunches and catering.
This is the standard that GF deli's should strive for. Separate GF prep area, gloves and great food. Worth the trip to Stamford for true GF food.
fantastic. friendly owner Eric knocks it out of the park with spectrum of gluten-free options... esp takehome frozen meals. sunny, bright, clean, inviting. check out the freshly-baked gluten-free bread -- awesome!
My son and I have Celiac Disease and follow a strict Gluten Free diet. We love the Gluten Free Food Factory/ Awesome Deli because we don't have to worry about cross contamination. It isn't often that you can walk into a deli or restaurant, order anything on the menu, and not have to worry about getting sick! Our favorites are the chicken parm, eggplant parm, meatballs, and lasagna. Of course my son loves the dessert items! I can't wait to try the new focaccia bread! I enjoy the cold salads as well, but the frozen dinners are the best! You have to try this place!
My son and I are required to be gluten free and are very pleased with the taste of the flash frozen dinners (no preservatives); and the breakfast and lunch sandwiches with gluten free bread. All the sandwich stuff, utensils, etc are kept separate too which is important for us Celiac folks (gluten intolerant disease which we have). We love good food and have a hard time finding anything that comes close to this taste and quality of the flash frozen dinners, unless we make it from scratch at home. This place is doing that.
I heard this place is now open and checked it out. It is a gluten free diet dream come true!!! You can get breakfast or lunch sandwiches in G.F. Breads and Take home gf entrees that are frozen and delicious. Nothing like this exists as far as i know. AWESOME !!!
