When asked about their gluten free items at checkout, the cashier briefly walked away and came back with a four page printout of specific store items and info. They have also been very helpful and knowledgable when I have questions for them in the aisles.
I wish they would put all their GF options in one section but perhaps it wouldn't be that big. :p Their GF frozen pizza is the best I've tried as well as their crispy chocolate chip cookies. But that's really it. Besides the gf penne and brown rice tortillas (which taste like paper), they now stock GF flour. most of their marinated meats have gluten so stay clear. And, if you are GFCF, TJs is a quick stop for a few things. Unfortunately their coconut creamer has been bad every time I bought one so never again.
Decent selection. They have list of GF items at customer service which is GREAT! Seasonal pumpkin pancake mix is awesome.
Cheap, high quality, and delicious. My go-to spot for pastas, snacks, and other wheat-free treats.
Trader Joes is the easiest place to shop and makes it really appealing to eat more gluten free and healthy in general. From the gluten free chocolate cupcakes, pumpkin pancakes, gluten free brownie mix(!!!!!so good!!!!) gluten free deli meats, bread, bagel, potato chips, chocolate caramels, almond clusters and so on and so on... They label everything extremely thorough with GF for gluten free on the label and food contains: which will list any allergens that are in the food such as, soy, egg, nuts, gluten etc. AND if you still aren't sure check out the wall guides by the exit which list all allergens separately and gives you a list of EVERYTHING that's gluten free in the store. You cannot do better!
Almost, but not quite. Be careful as many GF items that are labelled GF have written in small print ; prepared in a facility that also processes wheat/gluten! So disappointing that they do this. So don't just grab something labelled GF. READ the ingredients and small print!
Awesome selection!! :) they even have gluten free ready made dough and their gluten free ginger snaps are delicious! HINT!!! Be sure to ask for a gluten free map!! Tells you where everything is!
Items that are usually gluten free, like risotto and polenta, have gluten ingredients. Wheat is not always identified as an allergen, so you have to read the whole list every time. New blueberry muffins are delicious, though. Keep trying, TJ's. Maybe hire an expert on the prepared-foods side?
