Wheat Penny is great!! It’s a bit pricy but there are a lot of GF options and the food is delicious. Been several times and have never gotten sick. Staff are knowledgeable and very nice!

The atmosphere could be a little better, but the food was spot on! I had the most delicious house made rigatoni with ham and peas in a parmesan cream sauce, absolutely delicious! As I was eating I was hoping it was indeed GF, it was that good and cooked perfectly. One day later and I'm still feeling fine, so I can confirm it was GF.

NOT SAFE. The first time my order had real cheese (I’m gluten and lactose intolerant), the second time the noodles weren’t done, and the third time my meal was correct, except that I got glutened from it and I was sick for five days. I will never eat there again. I can’t risk gambling to see if my meal is contaminated. This restaurant is supposed to take food allergies seriously. Super disappointed.

Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. LOTS of items on the menu are GF and waitstaff said they could accommodate to make most anything GF. Plus the food was excellent! Also had GF beer which is always a great bonus. Would HIGHLY recommend for GF (or anyone) and can’t wait to go back.

Loved the diversity among the staff. Everyone is welcome and supported here. There is an allergen menu which was clever and helpful. We orders the brick cooked chicken thighs (very good) , the GF pizza (good- didn’t love the cheese and it was a bit burnt in on crust in some places would rate pizza: very good/excellent) and a dressed green salad with white wine vinaigrette (almost excellent). We would definitely come back here.

So many gluten free options. They have a menu that color codes allergens like gluten dairy and soy. I’ve gotten pancakes and I’ve also gotten pizza here. Very safe and delicious

The GF pizza was just as good as the regular pizza. I was recently diagnosed with celiac, I’m not good at being assertive yet at restaurants, so I trusted the reviews in this app and had the pizza and had no adverse effects after a week. Will definitely eat here often.

Wow! We had high expectations after reading the reviews on here. These expectations were met and then some! The gf pizza was fresh and delicious! Not just Udi’s crust cooked to death, but real made from scratch dough cooked to a light and crispy texture. The toppings are very diverse and include dairy free options. The gluten free and regular pizzas cost the same amount- no ridiculous up charge! Friends, you can get a LARGE gf pizza. The staff was friendly and the whole place had a cool, laid-back vibe. You gotta go if you’re near Dayton!

Pizza here is amazing and they are extra careful about being GF. I believe the owner or a friend or relative of the owner has Celiac so they’re super careful.

I've eaten here many times over the years and felt safe and have never gotten sick. Best gf pizza around, I love the tarte flambe....mmmm white sauce! They have many gf options and drinks, including beers.

Wonderful gf pizza and burger server was very knowledgeable went back for lunch and dinner. no separate fryer but other than that it is wonderful. Rare to find a homemade gluten free crust!

The food was great. I had the burger with GF bun and dessert. The staff was very nice but there isn't a separate GF menu and the regular menu doesn't have GF options marked. Upon asking, the server kind of read through the menu item by item pointing out what was okay for me to eat. I wish their menu was clearly marked GF. Also we were very hungry when we went and we were hungry when we left because the portion sizes are small. My husband had the panchetta and it looked like an appetizer.

What a treasure this place is! I go to Dayton about once a month but have never eaten here because the reviews made me think it was just a casual pizzeria. Boy was I suprised! The restraunt is a modern, upscale take on Americana. Happily, unlike most trendy places, the volume was at a comfortable din, rather then unbearably loud. I called ahead and the hostess was very knowledgeable about gluten free needs and was patient and happy to answer all my questions. When we made it in she remembered talking to me and excitedly made some suggestions. Almost everything on the menue, with the exception of meatballs (please switch to gf oats) can be made gluten free. The food: We orded the chicken thighs with speghetti squash and roasted potatoes as well as the matterhorn pizza. Chicken was cooked perfectly, nice and moist with crisp skin on the outside. the sides were also excellent. The pizza is spectacular and may be the best gf dough I've had. They have only one size (the large) and it is perfect for sharing. They obviously put some love and experimentation into their homemade dough. instead of being crunchy or soggy it was thin and doughy with a great flavour! The combination of ricotta, spec, and honey was out of this world. It tasted great the second day too! I asked for a gf mixed drink and they brought me a great, safe, twist on a mojito. You will definitely spend more than a penny on food, but it is very much worth it.

Best crust I've found. It is made in house so cross contamination could be an issue but they understand gf better than most. Gourmet pizza as well as bunless burgers, dinners and awesome dessert. Pricey but worth it. Closed on Sunday's. May want to see about reservations or call ahead seating for dinner . Usually busy unless you go early.

GF pizza was delicious! Had the margarita pizza and the large size meant plenty of leftovers. Will definitely go back.

Loved the food here! The fried eggplant is gf and was absolutely amazing. The crust is nice and chewy and a great break from all the prepackaged pizza crust you get everywhere else. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about what I could have.

Don't let the name fool you. Their gluten free pizza is great and I've never been sick. Any of their specialty pizzas can be made GF, except the white sauce for white pizzas is made with flour, though you can sub olive oil instead and it's still amazing. The gf pizzas only come in a large thin crust, but it's not like a cracker, still really chewy and has a great texture. You can also get half of one flavor/toppings and the other half something else.The waiters are very knowledgable about gluten and what you can have on the menu. I believe you can have a few entrees as well but I'm addicted to the pizza. They offer a few gf desserts and cycle in new pizzas seasonally. Like I said, I've never been sick from their food and I have celiac, so I would say it is celiac friendly, especially given how knowledgable the waitstaff is.
