• Bricks Wood Fired Pizza & Cafe

great wood fired pizza [maybe thats why someone thought they were burnt?]. Salads are gf as well but you MUST specify no bread (this is not listed on the menu). some gelatos are also gf. Pizzas range from $14 to $16 and are meant for 1 to 2 according to them (they are 12", I have never finished more than 1/2). I've never had a reaction and we eat there at least once a month. Our bill usually comes to $33 - two pizzas, two salads, and two drinks.

Very thin crust available with a range of toppings or specials. The Tuscan pizza I tried was great and the 11" size was perfect for me with leftovers. GF pizzas are $12.49 plus whatever ingredients are ordered, the Tuscan was an extra $3. Would be a 5 out of 5 if they had other options than pizza to choose from.

    5 starsOctober 11, 2014

2901 Ogden Ave, Lisle, IL 60532

NOW CLOSED. OPENING IN NOVEMBER AS PAISAN'S PIZZA. VERY SAD!!!! Great Caprese Sandwich. The take out came in a nice container and the sandwich was not soaked in dressing. Side salad was very tasty, but make sure to tell them not to put croutons on it. Some options are a bit baffling on the menu (gf bun for a teriyaki sandwich?) but they are very open to questions, customizing menu items, and figuring out the best way to serve their gf customers. Pizza is good but not cooked in a pan so it is probably not safe for celiacs. On GrubHub, also can call for delivery if you are in Lisle, and you can call for pickup or eat in their restaurant. They've also got some options I haven't tried yet, like their gluten free pasta. Definitely wish they were open for lunch! I'd eat there more LOL.

Good food, all the sauces are gluten free. Portions can be a tad skimpy at times. Make sure to mention to take off the bread, they can put it on a separate tray if you have others in your party that want it. Pickles are amazing! Ate there on vacation this week and have not gotten sick.

Great place! Love the food, and the precautions they take are just fabulous. Marina in particular is great. The food is fabulous. Love it. Have something different every time I go. I highly recommend the flatbreads and the white bean soup. The flag system is greatly appreciated to identify gluten free food. And the staff is great - we went on St. Patrick's Day and the chef came out to clear their special menu with us.

  • Jason's Deli

    5 starsFebruary 03, 2014

2060 York Road, Oak Brook, IL 60523

While these guys admit they can't do a totally gf environment (I mean, it is a sandwich joint!) they do an excellent job of minimizing risk in the environment as best they can. They change gloves, use packaged chips instead of the same ones the gluten people get, and they try to minimize how much contact your sandwich gets at the counter. If you call or visit you can get additional options for your sandwich beyond what's on the gf menu on their website - I am fond of their salami sandwich and the California Club.

  • Chipotle

    5 starsFebruary 03, 2014

    18W050 22nd St., Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181

I wanted to single out this location because they do an excellent job with keeping gluten and soy allergens safe from people - changing gloves and spoons on request. They also have two staff who ARE celiac and can really steer you towards the safest items. And they are willing to experiment on request (ever order off the "secret" menu like - nachos, corn tortilla quesadillas, etc.? It's a lot of fun.) This is my favorite location for the most friendly, flexible, and great staff. I've also used them for catering and they do a great job.

  • Francesca's

    2 starsFebruary 03, 2014

    174 N York St, Elmhurst, IL 60126

We've had a lot of trouble with service at this location. I've been here 3 times, and every time there have been issues with the reservations, issues with service time (i.e. sitting for a half hour without even a water order taken) and mixups by the food delivery staff. I'm done with this particular location - the Bolingbrook one and the Naperville one are much, much better.

  • Francesca's

    5 starsFebruary 03, 2014

    641 E Boughton Rd, Bolingbrook, IL 60440

This location in particular does a really good job outside of the one downtown Chicago. Their service is good, food is good, and the menu encompasses the full spectrum, from appetizers to dessert.

  • Carrabba's

    4 starsFebruary 03, 2014

    1001 West 75th Street, Woodridge, IL 60517

Fun gluten free menu that's tasty. A bit on the expensive side for what amounts to a fast-casual restaurant. They'd get a 4 out of 5 if they put the darn prices on the gf menu - its annoying to have to cross reference menus in order to figure out how much your meal will be.

  • Buca di Beppo

    3 starsFebruary 03, 2014

    90 Yorktown Road, Lombard, IL

It's just "okay". Not the best or the worst by far. Catering is good, they are very good with treating my attendees well with food allergies. They don't go out of their way to make a solid menu for gf folks, but they don't treat anyone unsafely, either.

  • Pinched Mediterranean Grill

    5 starsFebruary 03, 2014

    2770 S Highland Ave #102, Lombard, IL 60148

They are located in the Highlands of Lombard Shopping Center, across from Yorktown Mall. Food was great! Taste was good - it was very fresh, and you could tell they make most of the ingredients homemade on site. The servers were knowledgeable about what had gluten in it (identified on the menu) as well as what had a contamination risk. NEW 11/2013: Make sure to try the new red pepper hummus, its fabulous! And also, they are contemplating getting gluten free pita. So if you'd like some, say so! Let them know. NEW 1/2014: They now have gluten free pitas! And they are tasty. They are an extra charge but worth it to treat yourself every once in a while.

  • Egg Harbor Cafe

    5 starsFebruary 03, 2014

    777 N York Rd, Hinsdale, IL 60521

This is my favorite location in the chain to eat at. The staff is fast, efficient, and friendly, and they know their stuff! A couple of the servers are gluten intolerant and know what to look out for. Great location that serves Sweet Ali's products.

  • Egg Harbor Cafe

    5 starsFebruary 03, 2014

5128 Mochel Dr, Downers Grove, IL 60515

This is one of my two favorite locations for the Egg Harbor Cafe that I like to to go to. Nice GF menu, though they don't serve the Sweet Ali's pancakes like in Naperville and Hinsdale.

  • Egg Harbor Cafe

    5 starsFebruary 03, 2014

    175 W Jackson Ave, Naperville, IL 60540

Great GF menu options, fun service, what more could you ask for? This location serves Sweet Ali's products. Be forewarned, the waits can be long during traditional "brunch" times, especially on Sundays. Call ahead before you. If you do go they have a lovely park across the street to wait in if the weather is nice.

  • Zapatista

    5 starsFebruary 03, 2014

1703 Freedom Drive, Naperville, IL 60563

Have eaten there twice now and have not been disappointed either time. Both times we did the vegetarian enchiladas with cheese on top (not because I am vegetarian, but because they are so GOOD!). Enchiladas are made gluten free by subbing the corn tortillas for the flour ones - it is the only gluten concern. Chips are excellent with a spicy salsa. The first time we went there was a Groupon and we enjoyed the Chorizo Fundido as well. Drinks are a bit expensive but of a good size, and both times we had great service. You can make a reservation (call 1 hour ahead) or walk in, and they had both reserved seating and on-demand seating in the bar area. This restaurant is a little on the loud side when it is busy and they often have live bands or DJs on Saturday night.

  • Standard Market

    5 starsJuly 03, 2013

    333 E Ogden Ave Westmont, IL 60559

I put "no" on the celiac friendly below as their prepared food options are NOT celiac-safe. However, their grocery store options are safe for celiacs as they are prepared at the manufacturer and you can decide from there (Udis, Sweet Alis, Hain Celestial, Ancient Harvest, are all brands that they carry). 3 days a week they have a prepared gluten-free "take and go" meal that you bake on your own at home for $16.99 for four servings. Many of their sushi varieties are also gluten free (try the "Flying Crabby" and the "Lox, No Bagel" for two great options and are made onsite by a credentialed sushi chef who can answer your questions about every item in the sushi. They also have other "quick foods" in their grab and go sections that are gluten free, such as the Deviled Eggs, Pickles, and Sodas. They also have a great produce section with no bread over the fruit, so it is all safe to eat. Their alcohol department carries a nice selection of ciders and unique gluten free beers and they often run specials during the month with additional producers. Their meat department is wonderful and their staff can really tell you what is in every product they sell. Their dairy department is full of unique and artisanal products. The in-store restaurant staff is knowledgeable and can help steer you toward the best options to eat. The menu changes monthly, so I can't recommend anything right now as it will be gone in 27 days. In terms of issues, I would recommend staying out of the "deli" area as it is right across from an onsite bakery, and it would be hard to guarantee that any of those foods are safe to eat. They bake in the morning, so if you are sensitive I would suggest staying out of the market during those time periods. Basically, think of this as a very unique market that might not replace my regular grocery store, but is a nice complement to it. It's also a great replacement for "fast food" as sushi and a drink runs under $8.

  • Mauston Park Oasis Restaurant & Bakery

    4 starsJune 03, 2013

    Hwy 82 & 190 94 E, Mauston, WI 53948

Had a vacation there over the weekend. Does not have an official gluten free menu but does separate the grills that gluten and non-gluten containing items are on. The waitresses are up to date on what has gluten and what doesn't. I had a ham and cheese omelette with hash browns. I did not get sick from this restaurant, and I would recommend it! Stick to their omelettes and other breakfast items as they are all freshly made. Can't recommend any of the dinner items as much - 95% were gluten containing or fried in a shared fryer. Most dinner items didn't look appealing anyway.Folks who are sensitive to airbourne gluten should not go there as there is a bakery on site.

Great pizza. Really nice crust. Obviously cannot be 100% free of cross contamination due to other pizzas, but they do their best. Toppings are priced individually. Pepperoni and sausage are both gluten free.

  • Rochester Mills Beer Co.

400 Water St, Rochester, MI 48307

Had a great time there tonight. Food is fantastic and the server didn't bat an eye on the gf requests. Menu is fully labeled at the restaurant (online one isn't). Foods gf included trout, salmon, several salads, nachos, chips and dip, 2 gf desserts, etc. Very reasonably priced and definitely a place I will be back to the next time I'm in town!
