Why oh why is this on the g/f site??? Please create a liist of criterion restaurants must pass before they can be listed on here. It would save time and frustration for people using this guide. Go to Tony Roma's at MOA for a delicious meal. Noodles can accomodate too, though choices are very limited.

Fried shrimp and baby cakes worth the drive. Catfish tasted bleachy, I'd skip it. Authentic brewed tea and attentive staff. So very sorry to miss Joe Tess, but this hits the spot!

  • Red Robin

Consistent inconsistency. Order is right about 1/2 the time if getting take out. G/f bun available for $1 up charge.

Hit-n-miss. Sometimes careful about gluten, sometimes not. Sometimes decent sized portions, sometimes not. Sometimes happy to wash hands/switch gloves, sometimes not. Sometimes I get sick. Sometimes I don't.

Always delicious. Limited menu, but It answers the crave for g/f Chinese food. Grateful for this option. I miss it when I travel.

  • Biaggi's Ristorante Italiano

    5 starsSeptember 24, 2013

8251 Flying Cloud Dr, Eden Prairie, MN 55344

Biaggis means 'delicious' in Italian. Not really. But it could! If you're frugal, visit on the lunch menu. Grilled salmon w/ lemon cream sauce over risotto with asparagus and shrimp is to write home about. Really. Their g/f bread makes me feel *happy*. This restaurant is the standard by which others are judged. 1) knowledgable staff 2) best entrees 3) bread! 4) dessert offering 5) It was my fave before going g/f

The pizza was the best g/f I've ever had, but now I'm sick!! Fun environment, but I should have walked out when the mgr. didn't understand the importance of keeping the toppings as well as the preparation free of gluten. Ugh. If you're leaving the metro area, better pack a cooler or else!!

  • Black Bear Lodge & Saloon

    3 starsAugust 06, 2013

14819 Edgewood Dr, Baxter, MN 56425

I ordered the riblet platter. While the sauce wasn't anything special, the mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables stole the show. Service minimal. Burgers served on buns made from Kinnickinick mix.

  • The Good Life Cafe

    1 starsAugust 04, 2013

220 Main Ave S, Park Rapids, MN 56470

Overpriced, tasteless small portions. This is my third year to stop through, hoping for a tasty bite. Today was my absolute last visit. Nearly twenty dollars for a 'walleye blt', handful of salad straight from the container and a cup of watery soup. Walleye (smaller than size of slice of cheese, no seasonings. Broiled, no sauce. ) This does not represent well.

Caveat Emptor!! While ingredients are gluten free upon request for many dishes, they are prepares in contaminated oil and pans. This review is necessary as this restaurant came up when I yelped for gluten free Asian.Wow. Always check things out yourself...

1715 Beam Avenue, Maplewood, MN 55109

Went there during lunch time, and learned that the 'special' which included a half portion of an entree and two appetizers, isn't available for g/f customers. Strike one. ( Understand I was coerced into purchasing a dinner size entree..) I went ahead and ordered an order of the 'egg rolls', which were filled with gross textured pork snoutiness and lacked seasoning. Strike two. The waiter didn't pay attention to our needs and had a poor attitude. One cup of water and a tea bag for $2.25. Str-ike thr-ee! Lunch for my two friends and I was $36 w/ tip. Very mediocre at best. Not a repeater.

We tried two different g/f pizzas: mushroom and the one with goat cheese and sausage. A friend who was also there ordered the regular chicken alfredo pizza. Seeing that probably set me up for a bit of disappointment. To me, the crust was underbaked, and a little waxy tasting, except for the crispy edges, which were good. Going there during Happy Hour is the only thing to do, otherwise it would be too expensive for the amount of satisfaction achieved. The argula and prosciutto salad was almost worth the trip by itself. Amazing. I would love to return and try their g/f pasta dishes. One other thing: be prepared that the bar side was completely full and you have to have reservations to sit on the other side.

They person behind the counter happily switched gloves when asked and made my tacos neatly. I liked the chicken better than the steak, which I found to be too chewy. Corn shells fragile, but tasty. Love that there are fresh limes to put in beverages. : )

I so wanted to be happy about this place. Very average pizza, more expensive than others. Blah. Color me disappointed. Better places in the neighborhood.

Not impressed. Blech. You know those places where good food is served, but then the g/f menu is the regular menu with all the good stuff not an option? That was my experience. Didn't help that the cook came from restroom w/o washing hands and still pulling up his britches. Eeewww.

I change up Changs's spicy chicken by ordering half chicken, half shrimp...order sauce on the side, stir in 1 tsp hot mustard and two packets of g/f soy sauce into the heated sauce, then spoon over dish as needed. I have asked for different veggies as well, but enjoy pea pods the best in this dish. : )

  • The Original Pancake House

I can have what I actually want at OPH. Ooey, gooey maple syrupy goodness away from home. Imagine the joy! One of my favorite places to be...the servers there are top notch too. Thank you OPH. OPH omelet is a fave, as are the apple crepes. Choc chip or bacon pancakes great too.

  • P.F. Chang's

    5 starsFebruary 08, 2013

2700 Southdale Circle, Edina, MN 55435

I have never been disappointed at P.F. Changs! Always good, sometimes amazing. Now offering luncheon-sized portions with soup or salad. Chang's spicy chicken or Mongolian beef are favorites I return to time and again.

  • Ernie's Pub & Grille

    2 starsJanuary 04, 2013

14351 Nicollet Ct, Burnsville, MN 55306

We went there for burgers. They forgot the toppings. As our order was to go, didn't notice till we sat down to eat. Burger dry, small amount of French fries(w/ pepper all over them...ishy!). This cost as much as Red Robin and was not nearly as good. Will try the breakfast buffet at some point to see if Ernies really loves celiacs, or wants us to sit on the sideline while others eat gooey bread products with syrup. That's another adventure for another day.

What a pleasant experience....came to try out the catfish and yucca. So good! A vast array of unique refreshment options, including soda made on location. Erin is an exceptional server who handled all my queries and gave spot on suggestions. A definite repeat...

  • Supatra's Thai Cuisine

    4 starsDecember 16, 2012

This little jewel of an eatery is located directly across from the fire dept. First impression based on pineapple fried rice with chicken. It was bland until soy and chili flakes were added, but then was delicious. Plump little raisens were an interesting addition. Will try satay skewers and spring rolls next time...

  • Wise Guys Pizzeria

What a pleasant discovery! I had the chicken alfredo on gluten free mostacolli noodles with cheese bread. Soo good. I couldn't eat it all and my gluten eating family finished it off. DH said he would order it again, because it was that good. Thank Wise Guys!

  • Twigs Tavern & Grille

    2 starsNovember 09, 2012

    401 6th St SW, Rochester, MN 55902

We were asked upon arrival if a g/f menu was needed. The experience went downhill from there. Initial impression was less than optimal as carpets visably needed cleaned and the table we were seated at still had water rings and crumbs from the last guests. The server pointed me to the section of 'thin pastry' topped w/ various things. We ordered the g/f onion rings and enjoyed those. The 'thin pastry' was actually a pre-made pizza crust, cut in half. Blech. Other observations, the tzatziki sauce is made in house, and isn't actually tzatziki and did nothing to enhance the chicken skewers. Bottom line: it is appreciable a g/f menu exists there, but that in itself isn't enough to make this a repeat experience. Pricier than the food merits. Almost had the spaghetti another reviewer enjoyed, but didn't want to spend $13.99 for lunch. (It took close to an hr and a half to have lunch.)

  • Andiamo Italian Ristorante

Authentic homemade food, presented simply and deliciously. Please note that all gluten free pasta dishes are served on penne pasta. Mama mia! This is the real deal....can't wait to take other g/f friends there. Armando took great care of us!

  • Mabe's Pizza

    3 starsSeptember 03, 2012

    110 E Water St, Decorah, IA 52101

Great tasting pizza. Only the crust is certifiably gluten free, so you need to make sure to check the toppings. No separate preparation area that I could discern. I ate the pizza w/ no ill side effect, but was concerned about cross contamination. Tightening up the gaps in the gluten free protocol could take this rating from a three to a five in a nanosecond.

  • Big Bowl

    4 starsAugust 31, 2012

    3669 Galleria, Edina, MN 55435

Big Bowl offers a g/f kung pao that is quite tasty. Be sure to specify the level of heat or mildness you prefer. Have had that dish multiple times, but there are a few other options.

  • California Pizza Kitchen

    1 starsAugust 31, 2012

1690 Southdale Center, Edina, MN 55435

IMHO, they should just say we aren't accomodating g/f people right now. The server seemed befuddled when I asked questions about menu options. Options are very limited and I didn't feel well after consuming a simple salad there.

  • Pei Wei

    5 starsAugust 29, 2012

Love you Pei Wei! You fill my bill for tasty Chinese food. Like the little sister of PF Chang, you sport some of the same charm, minus a few frills, and also a few sheckels cheaper. Pei Wei spicy, half chicken- half shrimp....you know what I like! Thanks Pei Wei, you never disappoint.

  • Outback Steakhouse

This is my favorite go-to steakhouse. They are very attentive to detail and are trained in serving folks who require g/f. Never gotten ill after eating there. Love it that I can have dessert there too. Thank you for caring, Outback. We love you!

234 NORTH GARDEN, BLOOMINGTON, MN 55425

I used to order salad bar and baked potato here, but still had 'issues' afterwards. So I asked the mgr and he told me that he couldn't guarantee the bacon or sour cream to be g/f. When I had the salad bar, it hadn't been well maintained, and there were croutons floating in the dressing. Ugh. I'll pass on this one.
