121 Freeway Dr, Mt Vernon, WA 98273
Along with Trumpeter's Public House, my other favorite place in Mt. Vernon. Many GF options. My favorite is the Clam Chowder with GF Whole Grain Bread. (See photo). Literally everything on the menu is excellent!! They always have GF Carrot Cake.
1317 Commercial St, Bellingham, WA 98225
I especially like the Mediterranean "sandwich"--they substitute GF corn tortillas. (See photo). Great GF Mac & Cheese if you can handle a lot of cheese. I also love their soups and salads. There are many GF options. Really great food!!
655 Front St, Lynden, WA 98264
A favorite Thai restaurant inside the building with the windmill on top. I always have the Red Curry Chicken with Brown Rice but many items on a Thai menu are gluten free. See photo above. Sometimes the rice comes in a separate bowl from the Chicken/Vegetables/Red Curry Sauce, and you could ask to have it either way.
300 N Samish Way, Bellingham, WA 98225
Diego's is a place where you can get a quick Mexican lunch. It has been voted Best Lunch and Best Take Out Lunch in one local survey. It is an unpretentious place with no table service. Order at the counter. I usually order off the a la carte menu and get 2 Cheese and Onion Enchiladas with Rice for $6.50. Their Red Sauce is gluten free (which is very unusual). See photo below.
241 Telegraph Rd, Bellingham, WA 98226
Any Enchilada with a Green Sauce instead of a Red Sauce is a good choice. On the lunch menu it comes with Rice and Beans. Very inexpensive lunch. Comes with complimentary Chips and Salsa.
1200 11th St, Bellingham, WA 98225
I am changing my rating to five stars. I have been enjoying their GF soups with Jensen's (dedicated bakery) GF bread, as well as their muffins and cookies. They are very aware of gluten contamination issues.
2400 Meridian St, Bellingham, WA 98225
I do eat here, but be aware if you are very sensitive that the toast is from a non-dedicated facility called the Bellingham Flatbread Co. I generally eat the Eggs, Bacon and Hashbrowns breakfast. (See photo).
2900 272 Street, Langley, BC V4W 2T9, Canada
A small coffee shop/restaurant that's a popular gathering place. Always have a GF soup and flatbread with vegetables and cheese (choice of dairy or Daiya). GF sandwiches on Udi's bread. GF scones, muffins if you get there early. Also GF Chai Loaf, cookies, and bars.
33955 Clayburn Road, Abbotsford, BC, Canada V2S 7T7
Love the Gluten Free Thursdays. They always have muffins and scones to go with coffee. For lunch there are two or three soup choices and entries like Butter Chicken or GF Lasagne, BBQ Ribs and Baked Chicken. Comfortable seating area considering this us a grocery store. Stock up on their GF products before you leave.
2500 Cornwall Ave, Bellingham, WA 98225
It is unusual that some Celiacs say they can eat their product without "getting sick." I don't know of any diagnosed Celiac who eats here. They are not allowed to call their products gluten free because they are not a dedicated facility, so they use the term "gluten freer." Buyer beware.
1113 N State St, Bellingham, WA 98225
Small unpretentious cafe on a busy one way street in Bellingham. Serves soups and salads. Any sandwich can be made in a gluten free wrap. Good food. Salads are unusually generous and substantial for $8.
10216 Southeast 256th Street #111, Kent, WA 98030
Great bakery with a huge variety of GF options. They were in business years ago when there were very few GF bakeries. If you're south of Seattle it's definitely worth a stop. They also make pizza.
1121 E Pike St, Seattle, WA 98122
Fantastic GF noodle bowls!! Very safe place to eat if you fear contamination. Many offerings are GF. My favorite is the Coconut Curry noodle bowl with chicken.
1301 W. Bakerview Road, Bellingham, WA 98226
I have ordered the hamburger with everything on it and brought my own bun. Worked out great but it's hard to bite into with the double patty they give you. It has much improved since my review in 2013. I ordered the hamburger without bun and got it served with all the fixings in a foil bowl that I could eat with a knife and fork. Quite good. The fries are excellent--fried in peanut oil in a dedicated fryer. And. of course, we love the free peanuts!
310 North Samish Way, Bellingham, Washington 98225
Very good Chicken Burger with Swiss and Dijon Mustard. Buns are great. They use Udi's. Too bad we can't have the fries as they fry wheat batter-dipped foods in the fryer along with the fries.
1300 Bay Street, Bellingham, WA 98225
Have eaten Gumbo here once when it was quite tasty. The last time the Gumbo was so heavily spiced we could not taste the food. All three of us left everything in the bowl. One in our party complained and was told it was always like that. Not true, but none of us will go back.
4285 Meridian St, Bellingham, WA 98226
Had Fried Rice with Chicken which is my favorite dish at PF Chang. It was not good. Really tasteless with burned onions.
250 Flora St, Bellingham, WA 98225
A greet gluten-free find in the Whatcom Museum. Had the soup and salad tray. French Onion Soup with Whole Grain Bread (with chia seeds). Excellent! See photo. Another day I had a Paleo open faced Bison Meatloaf Sandwich with Kimchee (with house made mayo and ketchup). Very substantial and filling. House made breads are available for sale. Whole Grain, Brioche, and Paleo (Almond Bread). See photo of Brioche and Paleo.
8523 Greenwood Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103
The best pizzeria I have been to yet. Many GF options. Try the GF French Bread with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar for dipping--with your GF pasta dish. Everything is fantastic!!!
920 Republican St, Seattle, WA 98109
Loved the Onion Rings!! Hamburger was Ok. The GF buns are from Jensen's Bakery in Portland, a dedicated facility. They're very good.
702 6th Avenue, New Westminster, BC, Canada V3M 3S3
This is a small grocery and health food store. They have many gluten free products. I buy a lot of their nuts, dates and figs in bulk and know that they are careful about keeping them separate from any gluten containing products. Great prices--you will not find better deals on bulk nuts and dried fruits.
3000 184th Street Southwest #912, Lynnwood, WA 98037
Incredibly good Chinese food and fantastic service. See photos I took of my favorites.
9233 Glover Rd, Langley, BC V1M
Had the most delicious Vegetable, Bacon and Cheese Omelette with GF Bread and Tomato Slices. She said the Hash Browns were not GF. The soups are also excellent! They have several GF sweet options such as muffins, bars, pies and cookies.
633 East 15th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5T2R6
My favorite Vancouver gluten free bakery. She makes the most unique savory items. The Vegetable Rolls are fantastic (pastry filled with mixed sautéed vegetables). The Potato and Leek Knich (pastry around potato-leek mixture) is amazing. Vegan options also, such as Daiya Cheese Buns. Sweet items are also excellent, especially the Apple Fritters.
3598 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, Canada V6R 1N8
Very popular cafe with xcellent food. Many GF options. Famous for their pies with several GF varieties. The Raspberry Rhubarb is especially good.
1726 Front Street, Lynden, WA 98264
I've eaten here many times. Usually have the Chef's Salad for lunch. The large is big enough to share. Half order is enough for most diners. Generous amounts of ham, turkey and cheese.
1939 Cornwall Ave, Vancouver, BC V6J
Breakfast Crepe with eggs and bacon was very good. A friend had the Turkey Crepe which was excellent. They have breads and muffins as well as pizzas and soups for lunch. And they make countless kinds of cookies, for which they're well known. A dedicated GF facility.
207 Unity Street, Bellingham, WA 98225
A cooking school that's open for lunch. High end cafe that serves local, top quality food in a charming atmosphere. Outdoor tables available in summer. Limited menu but they have GF options every day.
3207 Northwest Avenue, Bellingham, WA 98225
If your family of friends love Japanese food but you can't find anything GF, you might try Osaka's, a highly regarded restaurant. You can have the Salmon dinner (with steamed rice and stir fried vegetables) without the teriyaki sauce--bring your own GF soy sauce. High quality salmon. It would be five stars but I will give it four because of the extremely limited GF option. Great atmosphere and ambiance.
3385 Cambie Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada V5Z 2W6
Elegant desserts are the hallmark of this dedicated GF bakery. Many delicious choices you won't find anywhere else.
1596 Johnston St, Vancouver, BC V6H 3R9
Excellent food with great atmosphere!! Gluten free Fish & Chips on the Lunch Menu until 3PM. Everything on the menu seems to be GF.
794 Kentucky Street, Bellingham, WA 98225
The same situation applies here that is the case at Jeckyl & Hyde. They use Bellingham Flatbread for their GF bread and it is not safe for celiacs. I got sick.
Monroe, WA 98272
Very good bakery!! Love the Cinnamon Rolls!! The dough is as close as I've ever had to the texture of wheat dough. But I'd love it if they made Sticky Buns instead of the frosted Cinnamon Rolls. Carrot Soup was good too!
11920 227 Street, Maple Ridge, BC, Canada V2X 6J3
Fabulous Food!!! Many gluten free options. Breakfast is to die for!
2686 Langdon Street, Abbotsford, BC, Canada V2T
Nice atmosphere and good food. Staff is knowledgable about GF. I've ordered Chicken Souvlaki with a large portion of Sautéed Vegetables to replace the potatoes and rice. Another location at 33244 So. Fraser Way is only open for dinner.
312 Front Street, Lynden, WA 98264
My favorite place to eat in Lynden. Usually soup of the day is GF. My favorite is the Sauerkraut Soup. Doesn't sound appealing but it's delicious! Has pork roast, sausage, carrots, red peppers, cream (or sour cream) and, if course, sauerkraut. Potato Pancakes are GF. Double check when ordering as not all items are GF. Pleasant German atmosphere and very nice wait staff.
2777 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford, BC, Canada V2T 4V1
My favorite place yo eat in Abbotsford. Peri-Peri Sauce used on chicken is GF and available in light, medium and hot. Caesar Salads are GF. Only gluten product is their Portuguese buns used for sandwiches. Great place to get a quick lunch.
1 Bellwether Way, Bellingham, WA 98225
Upscale restaurant in the Bellweather Hotel on Bellingham Bay with views of the harbor. There's a limited number of GF items marked as such on the regular menu, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. Cobb Salad is good. Best item on the menu is the GF Chocolate Lava Cake served with Vanilla Ice Cream!! It takes about 20 mins. since they make it upon ordering, but it is well worth the wait!
