About Me

I'm more in the gluten sensitive category than needing to avoid it completely, so I'm not as strict as many people. I have friends in the restaurant industry so my reviews are more likely to be in the middle then on one far end or the other.

I've been here a number of times and finally got a look at the cheat sheet for waitstaff - over half of the menu is gluten free! It is not marked, but if you've been gluten free for more than a couple of weeks most of it is very intuitive, and the staff knows if you ask (and they are fully willing to double check with the kitchen on the specials.) Fabulous Southern food!

The GF menu wasn't as clear as some, which is why I rate them at 4. If you want a sandwich, they'll bring it out deconstructed rather than risk cross contamination by taking the GF bread you bring in back into the kitchen. (Yes, that's right - bring your own GF bread & they'll let you use it for their sandwiches. That's what knocked them down to a 3.) I had the quinoa power bowl and will definitely be back for that when I'm in the neighborhood again. Great service and there are obviously used to dealing with GF issues. Not to mention, "oh my, yum!"

Vegan restaurant which clearly labels: what is gluten free and what has a gluten free option. In my experience the staff will definitely steer you in the right way if you're uncertain. Don't be scared off by vegan. If all vegan cuisine was this amazing I would probably be happy to never eat meat again, and wouldn't miss cheese a bit. Great sages worth going out of the way for even if you don't have any dietary restrictions. This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants anywhere.

I'll give then another try because the gluten free menu was impressive the one time we ate there, but they clearly don't want your business if you 1) don't have a reservation and 2) aren't dressed to impress the 17-year-olds at the hostess station. Promising, if you don't mind attitude. 6/25 service was much better. Impressive knowledge & accommodation for GF & other allergies. I do find them to be overpriced ($15 for a burger!?!) but the attitude isn't as pronounced. Totally safe and solid dining, but don't be misled by the name if you're expecting casual dining...the prices & attire indicate finer dining than the admittedly GF sensitive menu offers.

The wait staff knows their stuff. If you have a GF menu on the table, they caution you about anything that might be suspect. I haven't had the GF dessert, but am impressed that they have one. The 1/2 pizza & salad lunch deal is not offered GF, though I haven't tried it with another person ordering the same pizza.

  • Beer Run

    4 starsMarch 23, 2013

Very accommodating, and they often have GF cider on draft in addition to several beers & ciders available for on and off sale. The menu is varied and they will adapt if they can for gluten free options. The only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars is that service isn't consistent. Some are great, but some seem to forget to come back

Any crepe can be made traditional, gluten-free, or vegan. This tiny walk up made to order creperie doesn't have dedicated equipment, but they do their best to avoid cross contamination and the crepes are fabulous. They've beea favorite of mine for years.
