I'm looking forward to returning to the Grease Box. They bake their own breads and desserts and use interesting ingredients in creative dishes, such as lime marmalade. My fried chicken was great. I could not order the waffles because of the buttermilk (cassein). Servers, cooks and staff were all friendly and relaxed. What a gem! Sadly lost a star because one of my baguette halves was burned.

I've come here twice for the Pollo al Horno - fall off the bone tender chicken. The servers are knowledgeable about G-F and write your order so that the plantains are cooked in a separate pan. I did not get sick eating here.

  • Selland's Market-Cafe

    5 starsApril 27, 2015

4370 Town Center Boulevard, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762

I have eaten at both the Sacramento and El Dorado Hills locations several times and have never gotten sick. I can order the BBQ Beef Brisket, Chicken breast, or Salmon. There are always roasted vegetables, potato salad, fruit salad, kale-quinoa salad and green salads from which to choose. Very good wine and cider choices and staff is helpful. For some unknown reason, the Brisket is not on the G-F menu, but more than one chef has assured me that it is G-F after consulting their recipe and notes. I have never gotten sick at Selland's - ever. After hearing how they handle their pizza crust, I have never been brave enough to try one.

4/18/2015 Dinner here was great. Server was knowledgeable about gluten and other food sensitivities and cross-contamination. Bacon-wrapped fig, Halibut served on mushrooms & asparagus and cocktail were all great.

4/18/2015 Stopped by for a snack. Emily and staff are knowledgeable about gluten and their menu. Very helpful and careful about cross-contamination.My split pea soup was thick, hearty and delicious. I look forward to eating here again.

163 Boatyard Dr, Fort Bragg, CA 95437

Only G-F bread option offered was Udi's for toast. For breakfast I had a vegee scramble, bacon and side of potatoes. The owner made sure my food was prepared separately (THANK YOU). I think the cooks were too intimidated with the special handling because my food had NO seasoning (I declined their general restaurant seasoning because it has MSG). Salt & pepper to taste and the meal was good. I will try another place when next in Ft Bragg, just for some different flavors. One can eat G-F here safely.

  • Goodlife Cafe & Bakery

    5 starsMay 26, 2014

10485 Lansing Street, Mendocino, CA 95460

Chicken Enchiladas, black beans & rice for lunch and a pumpkin almond muffin for dessert to go. My husband had 4 Cheese Macaroni & Cheese made with quinoa pasta. All flavors great. So great that we came back for breakfast the next morning. We were too early so breakfasted elsewhere, but stopped by later for another sweet treat- Blueberry Coffee Cake. Moist, lots of blueberries, and the consistency was fantastic. Highly recommend the Goodlife when in Mendocino. Many G-F choices on the menu. Not open for dinner.

You must get a family member or manager to take your order, but it is so worth the very small extra effort. I've safely eaten here several times. Ask for tortilla chips from the dedicated fryer. I usually eat a whole basket by myself! The corn tortillas are pure corn and only one sauce has gluten. There are many choices of sauces, meats and presentation.

  • Topwater Cafe

Tapas, Dinner & dessert. I'm hardly ever in Lodi, but I may make a trip per month just to eat such fresh cuisine safely. Next time, I'm trying a burger. They bake all their breads daily.

  • Andolini's Pizzeria

    2 starsApril 20, 2014

    12140 E 96th St N, Owasso, OK 74055

It appeared that whoever was working in the kitchen on the afternoon of 4/19/14 forgot that a gluten-free crust does not cook as long as a regular crust. My carry-out pizza crust was burnt. The order-taker at the register was very nice and helpful. The flavor was okay on my Tuscan pizza.

I cannot eat ice cream, but love that I can stop in and just buy a gluten-free cookie. Servers handle cookies carefully - Thanks! I've tried oatmeal and snickerdoodle and will be back! Cookies were soft and tasty. Maybe they'll add a sorbet or coconut-based ice cream sometime. I cannot have cow's milk.

  • Red Robin

    5 starsApril 13, 2014

2031 Bronze Star Drive, Woodland, CA 95776

I have eaten here about once a month for the past year or so and have never gotten sick. I have also eaten at the Red Robin in Owasso, OK and the experience was just as great. Pros: Ask for fries from the dedicated fryer. I have not asked what type of vegetable oil they use. Gluten-free bun. Wait-staff and management have taken great care and we have never had a server who appeared uncomfortable with the subject of dietary needs. Ask for the gluten-free menu. I find the burgers moist and flavorful. The fries are hot and delicious. Cons: Twice in 14 burgers my bun has been very hard. See you next month Red Robin!

  • El Charro

    2 starsApril 13, 2014

415 Main St, Woodland, CA 95695

Ate there last night. My "star" review is pertinent to gluten only. Good points: Tortilla chips are fried in a dedicated fryer in vegetable oil (I did not ask what type of oil). The staff was kind & receptive to my many questions, but had to go to the kitchen with each question. Bad points: Corn soft tortillas have wheat in them. Menu has no mention of Gluten. All information is learned from the staff. Since I also have to avoid soy, which is used in their chicken marinade, I ended up have Huevos Rancheros for dinner. The beans and rice were good and the eggs, peppers and onions were good, just not that special. The margarita was okay. I'll try another Mexican restaurant next time. When I next try El Chorro, I will ask about their beef and shrimp marinades.
