This place was very hard to find. Phone number was disconnected so couldn't get directions. Finally found it after 90 minutes of wandering. All they had at 3pm on sunday was pie. So we had key lime pie and salted caramel apple pie for lunch. Key lime was the best. Also tried a day old loaf of bread, which wasn't stale but left a horrible after taste. Figure out where it is before you go and don't expect much in the afternoon.

Awesome healthy selections. Lots of gf and vegan items. Inexpensive, filling, and delicious. Ate here once or twice a day for a four day conference. Didn't get sick. Celiac friendly.

  • Sprouts Cafe

    4 starsJuly 14, 2015

3123 Harrison Avenue, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

Smoothies and a variety of dishes are gf. Big bowl of brown rice, beans, and cheese is less than $4! Staff was familiar with gluten allergies and knew which items could be gf, including breakfast items. Dog friendly on patio. I'd go here again.

  • Freshies Restaurant & Bar

    3 starsJuly 14, 2015

3330 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

I've eaten here twice, in 2011 and 2015, and have never been convinced it's as safe as other people think it is. They don't have a gf menu, but if you ask you'll learn their fryers are gf, the breaded items are rice flour, etc. They do have sandwiches on non-gf bread. The kitchen is small though, and I'm a highly sensitive celiac. This week I had fried fish tacos and salad and had GI problems afterwards, but maybe my body just isn't used to fried food. My personal belief is that they don't indicate anything is gf because they dont want the liability and there is a high risk of xc. If the food was better, I'd go back again anyway because maybe I've just had bad luck, but my husband makes better fish tacos and salad at home. Oh the french fries were delicious though! And who knows maybe the fries weren't gf, hard to feel confident without an indication on the menu. I felt like my server didn't know as much about gluten as she should have but she asked her coworker for me.

  • Blue Angel Cafe & Catering Co.

    5 starsJuly 12, 2015

1132 Ski Run Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

Delicious food, servers and cooks are all knowledge of allergies. Gf items marked on menu but if you tell them you have an allergy they will take extra precautions. The thai curry is great, as is salmon. Thr gf pizza dough made on site on stainless steel (they know plastic is harder to remove gluten from!). I eat here whenever I'm in town and I have never gotten sick (have not tried pizza). The "gf" beer is Omission, but they have many ciders.

  • South Kona Fruit Stand

Great smoothies. They have sandwiches with gf bread available, not sure re: cross contamination.

  • Lotus Cafe

Yummy, vegetarian options. They do have beer with gluten but otherwise are all gf.

  • Pushkin's Bakery

    5 starsDecember 31, 2014

    1820 29th Street, Sacramento, CA 95816

Pushkin's is a dedicated gluten free and dairy free facility. They are new to having a bakery but have been catering for awhile now. They make cookies, cupcakes, and breads (like banana or zucchini). Many of their items are also vegan. The cookies are good. The one cupcake I tried was a little dry but the frosting totally made up for it. If they had chairs and tea, I would totally hang out here every weekend morning. Update 9/18/13: I prefer gf Mariposa Bakery in Oakland, but Pushkin's is ok. Their cupcakes are always too dry but they look pretty and the flavors are interesting (lemon meringue!). Cookies and macaroons are great. Smores cookie is yummy too. I'm glad there is a gf bakery in Sacramento, but I have to wonder if the people who think this is the best gf bakery have ever been to Mariposa.

  • The Vine Restaurant

    5 starsJuly 04, 2014

1610 Allen Creek Rd #111, Grants Pass, OR 97527

Awesome. They know about gf like nobody else (even that bleu cheese isn't necessarily gf!). Wide variety of options and the food is great. Main dish was amazing, sides of garlic broccoli and rice pilaf were just ok. Patio is dog friendly!

  • De Vere's Irish Pub

    3 starsMay 14, 2014

    1521 L St, Sacramento, CA 95814

Not a lot to choose from for a meal: fries or a salad. But a good bar and gluten free cider on tap! Edited on 5/15/14: they do not have a dedicated fryer! But their menu now indicates what is GF. Very limited options still though.

  • Barro's Pizza

    1 starsAugust 09, 2013

    15440 N 7th St #13, Phoenix, AZ 85022

This location does not offer gluten free pizza. Update (8/8/2013): they now offer gf pizza. The gf.pizzas are cooked along side the regular pizzas, same pizza oven, so there is lots of cross contamination. I have not tried their gf pizza because of this.

  • Veggie Galaxy

    4 starsJuly 07, 2012

The mushroom chickpea budget on gf today was very good. My server wasn't very knowledgeable about gluten so I was a little nervous but I'd go back here.

  • Jacob Wirth

Fun atmosphere, good food. They carry.hard cider and Bards gf beer. The only vegetarian gf item is pasta primavera, but it is a german restaurant. Kitchen staff follows certain protocol when alerted to gluten allergy. I'd eat here again.

  • Legal Sea Foods

    5 starsJuly 07, 2012

Very knowledgeable about gluten. The server brought me gf rolls and they were good! Fish is great.

  • Finale Desserts

    4 starsJuly 07, 2012

1 Columbus Ave, Boston, MA 02116

Gluten free menu includes salads, and any sandwich can be turned into a salad. I enjoyed my salad. They also have gf desserts, like creme brulee, but many are kept right next to gluten containing baked goods in the dessert display case.

  • Geoffrey's Cafe

    1 starsJuly 07, 2012

142 Berkeley St, Boston, MA 02116

The place is nice, but as I reviewed their gluten free menu I grew more and more concerned. Ahi tuna is listed on the gf menu, and one of the ingredients listed was soy sauce. Usually on a gf menu, they specify tamari or gf soy sauce. So I asked if they actually had gluten free soy sauce. The waiter checked with the kitchen and apologized when he came back. He said no, just regular soy sauce, so he wasnt sure why the ahi was on the gf menu. Needless to say, if they didn't know soy sauce had wheat, I certainly was not willing to eat there. Who knows what other mistakes they might make. I'd be very wary. Hopefully they will have someone with a clue review their gf menu.

  • Aioli Bodega Espanola

    3 starsJune 23, 2012

    1800 L St, Sacramento, CA 95811

The server was so nonchalant when I asked about gluten free options that it made me nervous. She said most of the tapas were gf though and the items we got were delicious and I had no adverse reaction. Kind of pricey but a very romantic back patio which is lovely in the summer.

  • Zocalo

I have eaten here safely a few times. I always get the corn tortilla tacos and they are delicious. The server doesn't always know which items are gluten free but they'll go check.

  • Anokha Cuisine of India

    1 starsJune 23, 2012

811 Grant Ave, Novato, CA 94945

This is listed on the northern california celiac association website but I don't understand why. The restaurant advertises gluten free bread, but I wouldn't eat it. I arrived at lunch and asked about a gluten free menu, there was none. They had a buffet and upon my request the server checked to see which items were gluten free. He came back while I was examining the buffet and told me everything was gluten free. I asked about the deep fried samosas and he told me they were fine. I.said that sure looks like flour, but his reassurance was that it was made with WHITE flour, not wheat flour. Ugh! Despite knowing better, I ate here because I couldn't figure out where else I could eat (go to the very nearby Whole Foods or Chipotle instead!). I had tandoori chicken, and a couple items that were far away from the samosas. I felt like I got glutened there.

  • Dad's Kitchen

    4 starsApril 04, 2012

Gluten free bread is available for sandwiches. The veggie burger was gf last time I checked, but it's a little dry unless you ask for something on it, like sauted mushrooms. Two Rivers gluten free hard cider on tap. Fun, friendly, casual atmosphere.

  • Star Ginger

Most of the curries are gluten free. Just ask. Food was fine. Ambience is lacking. Feels like a cafeteria.

  • Havana Cafe

    4 starsDecember 19, 2011

    6245 E Bell Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85254

Extensive gf menu. Some items on gf menu are actually fried in shared oil shared with gluten, so be aware of cross contamination (this is mentioned on their gf menu). Nice atmosphere; big servings. Dishes are fairly heavy and many (most?) don't include vegetables.

  • Yard House

    4 starsDecember 19, 2011

The food is good. They are extremely careful to call their menu "gluten sensitive", not "gluten free".

  • Farmers Kitchen Cafe

Hard to beat a dedicated facility with amazing bread, but the service is slow and spotty. They seem to be on island time. Safe and good food, but it's best if you're not in a rush.

Ask questions, don't just rely on the gf menu. The fried plantains in one gf salad are fried in the same oil as wheat so watch out.

  • Mariposa Bakeshop & Cafe

    4 starsSeptember 24, 2011

5427 Telegraph Ave, Oakland, CA 94609

Love this bakery. Food is top notch. amazing beetloaf sandwich our pizza by the slice for lunch. Delicious tarts and bagels and muffins for breakfast. The nutmeal raisin cookie is yummy, so is their carrot cake. The only problem is they are so popular that their staff can't quite keep up. During busy times, the water jug is always empty and food can take awhile. I go there daily when I'm in the bay area though.

  • Plum Cafe & Bakery

    2 starsSeptember 18, 2011

Food is good. I haven't asked about their methods to avoiding cross contamination. I suspect I have gotten sick from eating here a few times due to being very sensitive to gluten.
