So glad to find a new gluten-free option in Tallahassee. They understand how to prevent cross contamination. The tomato bisque made for a great starter. For the entree, the balsamic glazed chicken is amazingly tender & tasty. I substituted the mashed potatoes for a baked potato. My friend had the GF Hawaiian pizza which was one of the better GF crusts we've had. We shared the pizzoli (?) which is a warm GF chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream on top. I will definitely be back.

just got off the phone with this restaurant. After asking to speak with the manger twice, the person answering the phone would only say that they have gluten free brown pasta and a red sauce with no meat. I was told they do not receive frequent requests for gluten free accommodations. Based on what this restaurant communicated to me, I don't feel safe eating here. I hope they will do a better job either training their staff or just simply providing better and safer gluten free options. if someone else in Tallahassee can share their experience as a Celiac eating at this restaurant, please share what you ate and what you did to get the restaurant to communicate what exactly they offer that is gluten free other just brown rice pasta and a meatless red sauce

I eat here regularly with no issues. The staff understands the seriousness of preventing cross contamination. I get the simply grilled chicken on the gluten free bun. My friend who dines gluten-free also likes the gluten-free chili burger and the avo-cobbo-salad (ask to substitute goat cheese for the blue cheese & request the bread be left off)

While joy riding after work on a rainy day, my friend and I happened to drive through the Destin area and decided to look for a safe spot to eat. Neither of us were dressed for any of the restaurant at Grand Boulevard that offer gluten-free accommodations, so we look up our other options on this app. After reading the reviews on how thorough the restaurant is with preventing cross contamination with items containing gluten, we still did our due diligence to ask the waitress about the process. She explained that they have a button on their POS machine that tells the kitchen a meals is to be prepared gluten-free. The kitchen staff then uses new utensils, gets the gluten-free buns from a safely stored area away from the gluten-containing bund, and then the buns and meat are prepared on a section dedicated for gluten free cooking. They even have a dedicated gluten free fryer for their french fries, sweet potato fries, and chips. She even went back to the kitchen and asked the mayonnaise was certified gluten free, which it was. As for the actual meal, it was such a treat. Both my friend and I eat on a strict gluten-free diet, so finding a place that offered gluten-free burgers with safe french fries from a dedicated fryer made a rainy day great! We split the "kickin chicken nachos" for an appetizer (we asked for jalapeños and onions be left off as a personal preference, not related to a gluten-free). For my entree, I had the gluten free grilled chicken sandwich with cheese and mayo with an egg on top and a side of sweet potato fries. My friend had the gluten free bacon gaucomole burger with sweet potato fries. It was so good! Next time I might try the citrus grilled chicken entree that waitress raved about and save some room for dessert!

Great gluten free experience! They don't have a gluten-free menu but the chef spoke with me and made a fantastic and safe meal. The grilled snapper was so fresh. They actually flew the fish in the night before. Ask to speak with Chef Anthony before visiting and he'll take care of your gluten-free experience.

we had a great and safe gluten free dining experience. While they don't have a gluten-free menu, the waiter (Alexander) was very knowledgeable and explained that they do have homemade gluten free pasta. It is made of almond and arrow root flours. It is a thick fettuccini style pasta. The tomato basil sauce was delicious with carmalized onions for extra flavor. They don't have a chicken pasts dish and don't allow substitions, oddly. As such, I ordered the chicken entree and my fellow GF dining companion had the GF pasta. We ate "family style," sharing our meals so we both had some chicken and pasta. The chicken was tender and married well with the pasta and red sauce. Dessert was also a treat. We split the chocolate hazelnut panna cotta and the paleo friendly chocolate chip cookies, made from almond a nd arrowroot flours. Can't wait to return and appreciate their carefulness at avoiding cross contamination with items containing gluten. That always gets an extra star rating from me.

2800 Cahaba Village Plaza, Mountain Brook, AL 35243

Great GF experience! The cashier was very well trained on how they prevent cross contamination. Every is cleaned and fresh utensils and woks are used for GF meals. The GF menu is at the counter and provide several options. I had the GF rice pasta with pomodoro sauce and chicken. My fellow GF diner had the GF rice pasta with Chipotle sauce and chicken. It was so nice to find a lunch spot with so many tasty optioms and an understanding of how to make it a safe experience for me. We had great and safe meals 2 days in a row. The 2nd day I kept with the same meal but my GF friend had the Cajun sauce which was quite spicy but good. As a heads up, this restaurant is a little like a Chipotle Mexican Grill, but despite not having table service, the workers came around to make sure everything was to our satisfaction.

  • Tony's Pasta Shop & Trattoria

wow! Loved our GF experience at Tony's Pasta Shop a few weeks ago when we drove through Chattanooga after spending the weekend in the Smoky Mountains. They reassured me that they have a system in the kitchen to avoid cross contamination and the waiter was knowledgeable when I asked questions about their gluten free options. The GF flatbread was a treat. The GF chicken tetrazinni was so creamy & tender. My GF dining companion had the GF Lower Country pasta with cajun seasonings. He said it was not too spicy and was full of flavor. Definitely worth getting off the interstate for before heading to Ruby Falls.

  • D' Road Cafe

    5 starsAugust 13, 2014

6250 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery, AL 36117

Blown away! I honestly was surprised how good the food & service is here. Janet and her food are a rare find. Seriously, the experience rivals restaurants in Atlanta and Birmingham easily. When I called, she had already closed the restaurant between lunch and dinner. Hearing I was looking for a place requiring gluten-free accommodations and knowing how limited Montgomery is for people dining out gluten-free, she opened the restaurant an hour early just for me and my dining companion. Then, when she heard I was hoping for some gluten free pasta, she drove to the local Health Wise grocery store to get some. She answered all my questions satisfactorily about avoiding cross contamination with items containing gluten. She only uses chick pea or almond flour or corn meal flour, which makes things all the easier in that respect. She said she has several repeat customers requiring gluten free accommodations. That said, GF pasta with chicken soaked in coconut milk and zucchini and avocado was amazing. it was the most tender chicken I've ever had. The menu changes daily so check out her Facebook page or call first. I can't wait to get back for more of her chicken and the "magic sauce".

So glad to find Brio in Bham! This place is even better than the Houston location -- if you can imagine that. The hostess reassured me that they serve gluten-free meals all the time and take the same precautions as their other locations to avoid cross contamination. The waiter did offer bread, so I took 1 star off for that , but the kitchen handled the meal perfectly. I had the GF pasta pomodoro and my fellow GF dining companion had the GF pasta brio.

  • Gigi's Cupcakes

    5 starsJuly 18, 2014

273 South McGregor Avenue, Mobile, AL 36608

Yeah! gluten-free cupcakes finally arrived in Mobile, AL. I spoke with the person behind the counter about my concerns with possible cross-contamination issues. She reassured me that while there are gluten-containing products they bake in their store, they do take every precaution to avoid any cross-contamination with these items. She explained that they use clean utensils and bakeware when preparing gluten free items. She also said that the gluten free cupcakes are prepared first thing in the morning before they bake their regular, gluten-containing ones. Additionally, they put the gluten free cupcakes on their own separate trays and even in a separate display case. She confirmed that they have regular celiac patrons and haven't had any complaints so far. All of which I liked hearing. The gluten free cupcakes are only on Fridays and sell out quick. They try to have two-three varieties from which to choose. I had the chocolate torte. It was delicious and rich. If you need gluten-free cupcakes other than Friday, then you'll need to call a day in advance. There is a 6 cupcake minimum for a special order. So excited to be able to have gluten-free cupcakes now!

  • Romano's Macaroni Grill

    5 starsJune 05, 2014

3250 Airport Blvd., Suite B6, Mobile, AL 36606

Finding gluten free options for dining out in Mobile was just made a little easier for me! I was in the mood for gluten-free pasta and read that Ramono's Macaroni Grill offered GF pasta. Nervous by the fact that there was not a written review on this app or elsewhere, I called and spoke with the service manager David. Turns out his fiancee and mother-in-law-to-be are both Celiac! He said they eat there about once a month and also have several people requesting gluten-free accommodations often. He did a great job explaining how they avoid cross contamination by preparing the gluten free pasta in a clean pot with fresh water and that they use clean utensils and clean cooking surfaces. Regarding the food, I had the GF pasta (rice-based, penne styled) in alfredo sauce and grilled salmon. My fellow GF diner had the GF portofino pasta dish in a white wine butter sauce with grilled chicken. We split dessert, which was Double Vanilla gelato. We were very pleased with the experience, which was made all the more pleasant but our gregarious server Kara. She went above and beyond to make our experience all the more enjoyable.

9 Du Rhu Dr, Mobile, AL 36608

So excited to find another option for dining out in Mobile! After seeing a positive, gluten free review on Urbanspoon and another on Trip Advisor, I called and spoke to their general manager Dale. He did a great job explaining how they avoid cross contamination by preparing the gluten free pasta at the beginning of each day, separate from the wheat-based pastas. He also said they have people request gluten-free accommodations through out the week, which was reassuring. As for the actual food experience, the meal was delicious! I had the gluten free pasta with the Santa Rosa sauce, topped with grilled chicken (yes, they cleaned the grill off before preparing our food). My dining companion also eats on a gluten-free diet, and had the GF pasta with alfredo sauce, topped with grilled salmon. We were told all of the sauces are GF but the Norma, which has a breaded eggplant. As they look to expand their gluten-free knowledge and offerings, I dirercted them to the GIG website to learn about their gluten-free restaurant program. I highly recommend supporting such a business that is willing to look into providing such tastey, safe dining options for we who must eat gluten-free.

  • Pease Of Cake

Awesome GF cupcake experience! The owner explained that she goes through great effort to avoid cross contamination. She researches each ingredient for gluten-free status and prepares the GF items in a clean area and first thing in the morning before making anything else. The Pea Pod was delicious and so was the chocolate ganache. Just the right amount of sugar and the cupcake was moist and spongey. The chocolate ine even had a homemade cheesecake layer! very inventive. This lady knows how to make gourmet cupcakes. Can't wait for my next trip through Prattville!

so happy to find a safe, gluten free cupcake for my birthday while riding around Pensacola! They explained that they avoid cross contamination by preparing the GF cakes in a dedicated area and are baked separately from the gluten-containing items. I pigged out and had both the Dalmatian & the coconut cupcakes (flavors change daily). Delicious! Definitely a place to get an occasional sugar fix. I highly recommend this place. Just make sure to call ahead. While the are made daily, supply and selection are limited.

Fantastic GF experience! Great food and great service. Brandon, the manager, spoke to us about how they make every effort to avoid cross contamination and provide a quality dining experience no matter the dietary restrictions. The experience was safe, tasty and relaxing. The GF pasta in alfredo sauce was delicious. The waitress surprised me at the end of the meal with a GF dessert made of a raspberry cream over a flourless chocolate cake.

    5 starsMay 27, 2014

415 Church Street Northwest #5, Huntsville, AL 35801

what a fun, safe and tasty gluten free brunch! I had a Swiss egg omelet and side of grits and avocado with coffee. my friend who also dines GF had their huevos rancheros on a GF corn tortilla. he said the corn tortilla needed to be warmed but overall enjoyed the meal. my omelet was simple but delicious. the avocado tasted like they sprinkled lime and lemon juice on it, which didn't taste as good as it sounds. the coffee was excellent. plus, they had live jazz! I spoke with the owner prior to visiting. Cynthia reassured me they take extra effort to prevent cross contamination. But she advised me to make clear to the cashier that my food should be prepared gluten free and the cashier will relay that to the kitchen.

Best GF pasta experience while in Pittsburgh! The owner is GF, which means most of the menu can be made GF. They are also careful to avoid cross contamination, reassuring me that clean utensils & cookware are used for all dishes. I had a grilled salmon over GF rice pasta with parmesan cream sauce. my travel companion also dines GF and had the blackened salmon over polenta mixed with Italian ham. Both dishes were tasty & safe. They offer GF bread & dessert as well, which I passed on having. We left filled, satisfied and GI content

safe GF experience with housemade GF pasta! you even get a choice of GF pasta made from corn or GF pasta made from quinoa. My friend & I had the GF corn based pasta. He had the grilled chicken on GF pasta with alfredo sauce. I had the GF pasta with beef bolognese. Filling, tastey and safe! I think they had a dessert option but I can't remember what it was. There isn't a GF menu but the server was able guide me to items that could be modified to be GF. He also reassured me that they clean utensils & cookware to avois cross contamination issues. I highly recommend this restaurant for Celiacs like me

  • Bella Frutteto Restaurant

2602 Brandt School Road, Franklin Park, PA 15090

Great GF experience! They take avoiding cross contamination seriously, assuring me that they use clean utensils and pots and skillets for preparing GF meals. For an appetizer, we shared warmed GF corn chips. For the entree, I had the GF penne pasta with alfredo sauce. My friend had the GF penne pasta with chicken and sausage in a red cream sauce. i think the GF pasta is made of brown rice flour but wasn't mushy. Dessert was GF vanilla ice cream for me and GF creme brulee for my friend. Overall, the food was safe, tastey and very filling. I would definitely eat here again.

  • Mandy's Pizza

    5 starsMay 20, 2014

512 Perry Hwy, West View, PA 15229

best GF pizza and GF hoagies I've had in a long time. The owner's son is celiac so they understand the importance of being gluten free and avoiding cross contamination. The use separate screens to toast the hoagies and bake the pizzas. Foodwise, I had a ham and cheese turkey melt hoagie. The ham is delicious and I believe the mayonnaise is made in house. The GF bread is flavorfull and soft on the inside with a nice, light crunch on the outside. The GF white pizza with feta and garlic is truly award-winning, and the GF Hawaiian style pizza is also excellent. I found the staff to be friendly, knowledgeable and very understanding. I've gone twice already in less than a week and will be back for more soon.

  • Alexander's Italian Bistro

    4 starsMay 18, 2014

5104 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224

Safe gluten free experience. The waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and willing to find the answers to any of my GF-related questions. The manager Jim is also celiac & is why they started serving GF. The decor is a through-back to old neighborhood restaurants, considering it was established in 1977. I give the review a 4 star for its GF saftey & efforts to avoid cross contamination in the kitchen, knowledgeable & friendly waitress, & variety on the GF menu. I didn't givebit a 5 star because despite the chicken being tender, the alfredo sauce was not creamy and the marsala just tasted like beef gravy. I wish I would have tried the marinara sauce instead. Something in the restaurant smelt like authentic Italian cuisine and I'm guessing it was the marinara sauce. Nonetheless, other diners around said it was their favorite restaurant & the GF experience was safe.

Great, GF, authentic New Orleans food experience! Chef Ron easily answered my concerns about cross contamination. His years of experience in hotel dining makes a big difference in his willingness to safely nourish his customers. As an award winning chef, the meal was everything we were hoping it would be an more. The GF gumbo had deep flavors and generous amounts of crawfish, crabmeat and shrimp. The GF fried catfish was perfect. My dining companion also dined GF and enjoyed a redfish, GF red beans & GF jambalaya. To say the least we left stuffed! I look forward to visiting again.

    4 starsMay 06, 2014

3720 Hardy St, Hattiesburg, MS 39402

Great GF experience here while driving through Hattiesburg on my way to Jackson. I order GF pasta marinara with grilled salmon and an appetizer of roasted tomato soup. My travel companion had the GF fontina chicken with rosemary potatos and green beans and an appetizer of the GF minestrone. The only reason for 4 stars has to do with the chicken being a bit tough; otherwise, this restaurant gets 5 stars for great service, nice atmosphere, understanding how to avoid cross contamination with items containing gluten, providing a fantastic 2 page menu with tons of GF options, & great flavoring. I will definitely be back.

Great GF experience! Randall, the floor manager, explained how they avoid cross contamination with items that contain gluten and also reassured me that several people who require GF accommodations dine at this location. Make sure your corn chops are the baked ones -- not the fried ones. I had a tasty GF chicken enchilada and my GF dining guest had a GF chicken fajita. They have the best corn flour tortillas! The garlic white wine butter sauce makes the fajitas unique and delicious! Can't wait to return. Highly recommend

Nice GF menu. We had a great lunch experience here. The Pasta Pomodoro with grilled chicken was tender and tasty. My GF dining companion enjoyed the Pasta Brio. I think the pasta is Tinkyada. Waiter reassured me that the kitchen cleans the work space and utensils when preparing GF meals, minimzing the risk of cross contamination. I will definitely be back

Great store with knowledable staff and comfy cafe. GF menu options are clearly marked on the menu. Most items on the menu can be ordered GF which is nice. I had the GF turkey sandwich with swiss cheese and handmade mayo and a scoop of avocado salad and grilled chicken with green tea and then some organic coffee. my friend had the GF curry salad sandwhich with a side salad and house made balsamic vinegarette and black currant tea. A nice light lunch that accommodated 2 of our business meetings where the 3 of us could talk comfortably while having a relaxed lunch.

What a cool surprise on my way through Lafayette! Totally GF so no worries about cross contamination or having to explain the importance of the GF diet for a sensitive celiac. The Apple Mustard turkey panini was out of this world savory. The coffee was truly the best I've had in a long time as was the lemongrass tea

  • Hemingway's Island Grill

We had a great GF experience at Hemingway's Grill. The chicken was nicely grilled & the spaghetti squash was perfect. My GF dining companion had the pork tenderloin...just the right amount of spicyness. Before dining there, the hostess was able to confidently reassure me that they regularly accommodate gluten-free diners & was able to explain how the waitstaff communicates the gluten free request to the kitchen & then they use clean cooking ware, utensils, & clean prep area to avoid cross-contamination. I liked hearing that!

  • Chicken Salad Chick

    5 starsNovember 27, 2013

2370 Hillcrest Road, Mobile, AL 36695

This location just opened recently. I spoke with one of the managers who happened to also be a sensitive Celiac like me. He said he eats safely at the restaurant and said I didn't have to worry about cross contamination. The rest of the safe was still too new to know much about GF dining, so make sure to speak with a manager. As for what to eat, I had the Classic Carol chicken salad with a bag of Baked Lays potato chips. The salad was fantastic. They have other chicken salad options, but that is the only one I recall at the moment. The manager I spoke with is also lactose intolerant, so he said there more options that were GF but contain dairy. I'm hoping they will consider offering a GF soup, but at the moment, he said they were not gluten free. All the same, it is nice to have a new option in Mobile for GF dining out.

I was at the Westin for a business conference. The chef was able to provide me a delicious gluten-free meal at the banquet dinner and as part of lunch the following day. I can't speak for the quality or capabilities of the in-house restaurant called Palio, but the banquet and lunch experience were safe. For the dinner, I had tomato basil soup, roasted rosemary garlic chicken, steamed cauliflower and brown rice. For lunch, I had gluten free turkey sandwich on Udi's bread. The chef reassured me that they take every precaution to avoid cross-contamination and they reassured me that they accommodate gluten free dining needs regularly. I even overheard another hotel guest ordering a gluten free muffin at the Starbuck's Grab-n-Go in the lobby

2101 Epcot Resorts Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32830

Excellent fine dining experience at Epcot with GF accomodations! The chef said several items could be made GF. I had the lobster appetizer, which was tasty but tough. I would have lowered my rating, but the manager took it off the bill, saving me $29! My friend who dines GF also had the oxtail soup minus the puff pastry. He said it was tasty but an incomplete dish without the pastry. GF rolls were good, as was dinner. I had the duck d'orange, substituting the potato hash for the AMAZING mashed potato. My friend had the chicken, which was extremely tender. Skipped dessert, but we'll be back!

  • 50's Prime Time Café

    3 starsOctober 19, 2013

351 South Studio Drive, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Didn't get sick, but the quality of food was sub-par compared to other gluten-free offerings at Disney World. As others have mentioned in their reviews of this place, the chicken pot-pie was just the filling with a thin slice of GF bread. Very under-whelming. We went thinking we could get GF fried chicken, but the waiter pushed the pot-pie. Maybe something else would have been more appetizing.

After waiting 3 yrs, we finally got reservations at Le Cellier in Epcot. If you want eat here & know you will be at Disney World, start looking for available ASAP. You can book as far out as 180 days. The chef came to our table and told us our GF options. I had the chicken with mushroom rissoto. So good! My friend who also ate GF had the "Le Cellier" filet mignon with the mushroom rissoto. Well worth the wait!

We are back at Raglan Roads for the 3rd time in row...does that tell you how much we love this place! They really know gluten free cooking! The GF fish and chips are a must do, as are the GF champagne fried scallops! The shepherd's pie was like mom made it...though slightly more sophisticated. The roasted chicken with rissotto was also a hit. Topping the meal off with GF hard cider and a kick-arse Irish band with the whole crowd joining just made it perfect.

  • Kozy 2 Day

    4 starsSeptember 18, 2013

4433 McKinney Ave, Dallas, TX 75205

My dining experience was safe and my waiter reassured me that most of the menu is gluten free and that they take precautions in the kitchen to avoid any possible cross-contamination. Having eaten here before about 3-4 years ago as Celiac, I can say the quality of the flavor is not as "wow" as it used to be, but I was glad to have a safe lunch. I had the Veggie Connection omelette. The veggie portion was quite generous. My friend who also was dining GF had the fish tacos, which were good. The GF dessert menu is extensive. I got a slice of cherry cake, Black Forest, & my friend got the OMG! Cake. They satisfied my sweet tooth, but didn't live up to the previous experiences I had here. Not sure what changed. Hopefully, they will go back to whatever they were doing before.

    5 starsSeptember 16, 2013

5100 Belt Line Rd #764, Dallas, TX 75254

WoW! & Yum! I was in Dallas on business today & was so glad to find this amazing restaurant near my hotel on Belt Line Rd. I can actually see myself taking my client's here in the future and feeling perfectly safe. The hostess & waiter reassured me that they have many GF diners who return often. I loved hearing that! The GF meatball appetizer was a perfect start to the meal. GF bread was a nice feature to the experience, but it was my entree that "stole the show"! The GF chicken pamisian that I read about truly is worth every calorie. It was so tender I cut it with my fork -- no lying! The pasta is a GF penne, which was fine with me. I was too stuffed for dessert, but I will indulge next time. Also worth mentioning: the waiter said everything could be prepared GF except the ravioli, lasgana and 2 other items I can't recall, making the GF options quite numerous. NOTE: the restaurant is in the same shopping area as the new Whole Foods Market off of Belt Line Rd.

  • Al Fresco Italian Bistro

    4 starsSeptember 10, 2013

708 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS 39564

While the menu is very limited, I did have a safe GF experience here. Downtown Ocean Springs has very few places for GF diners to eat safely. I had the tilapia with potatoes. If you are needing a place to eat while in the area, then ask to speak with a manager or chef about the gluten free menu and make sure the waiter/waitress writes "GLUTEN FREE" on the ticket.

We had a great, safe GF meal here. The manager came out & explained our GF options. She also explained that they wash the grill and use clean utensils when prepping GF requests. We both had the signature dish, Red Fish with sweet peas & mushrooms & a side of grits. The only reason I give the review a 4-star is due to the lack of a GF dessert option. We ended up at Muriel's for some GF flourless chocolate cake & GF "snickers" terrine.

Fantastic GF experience! We hadn't been to a sandwich place in over a decade. The Udi's hoagie roll was nicely toasted and the Boar's head meat was great too

  • RosaMia Ristorante Italiano

    4 starsAugust 06, 2013

11730 Jones Bridge Road, Johns Creek, GA 30005

Talk about bringing back memories of my tour of Italy back in college. The smell of basil, wine & a marvelously subtle tomato sauce in the air is quintessential Tuscany. Don't expect American-styled Italian food like Olive Garden. This place offers a safe & uniquely Italian experience in the Southern US. Maria is the most knowledgable about the GF accommodations. She explained that they have a kitchen policy in place to avoid cross-contamination with items containing gluten. She also re-assured me that they serve gluten-free diners quite often. Because the restaurant has a fairly small dining room, it is highly recommended to call & reserve a table ahead of time. As for the food, the menu indicates what is gluten free & what can be made gluten free. For our appetizer, we first ordered the ceviche; however, I would not recommend it unless you like a lot of vinegar. Without the crostinni, the ceviche by itself was too much. Too bad they don't offer GF dinner rolls. It might have made the ceviche more palatable. Upon complaining of the overwhelming vinegar taste, my waitress offered me a tomato bisque soup instead. DELICIOUS! If you can do dairy, this bisque totally made up for the ceviche. Next, for my entree, I had pomodoro with grilled chicken and parmesan cheese. The GF pasta is imported from Italy and is corn-based. Surprisingly, I couldn't detect any corn flavor, which made for a delightful pasta experience. The pomodoro tomato sauce had a wonderfully subtle flavor. My GF dining companion had the chicken marsala. The reduction sauce was so good he had to fight the urge to lick the plate. Thankfully, he was on his best behavior. The chicken was very tender and the mushrooms were great with the GF pasta. We split the GF dessert. It was a flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream with powder coco & powder sugar. The chocolate had a nice taste of espresso and tantilizing after effect of cayenne. For a neiborhood restaurant, the flavors & over-all experience were delightfuly unexpected. Next time I'm back in town for business, I'll be eating here again. The only reasons for not giving the rating a full 5 stars is due to the over-powering vinegar in the ceviche & not providing a gluten free dinner roll or gluten free pizza crust. I highly recommend trying this place for an authentic Italian dining experience that is safe for those needing GF accommodations.

Their deli offers a full line of gluten-free Boar's Head deli meats, cheeses, and condiments. If you call ahead, they will completely clean slicers and deli slice your meat! Worked great for us. Also, they are planning to order gluten free wraps to offer if you want a safe GF lunch-on-the-go. I look forward to that! Their deli soups will require you asking them to look in their book of ingredients in order to tell which are free of gluten. The deli manager is Shawn. You can also speak with Bree, who seemed knowledgable and willing to help.

  • Wild Roots

    5 starsApril 28, 2013

5 Via De Luna Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561

What a fantastic surprise! My GF travel companion and I saw the sign for Wild Roots and noticed they offered organic foods. This normally has a chance for GF items, so we found them on Facebook and saw they mentioned gluten-free. We took a risk right before leaving our "weekend get-away" in the Pensacola Beach and tried them out, after talking with the head chef. She couldn't have been more accommodating. Everything they make is essentially gluten-free. The items that are not GF are pre-packaged things like wheat wraps, which are stored separately from the GF foods. She addressed their policy on avoiding cross contamination before I even asked....GOTTA LOVE THAT! She also revealed that she is one week into eating a stric gluten free diet herself for health purposes. We ate the soup of the day, which was a mushroom and cream of cashew. We also split a GF wrap called the Floridian with veganaisse and guacamole, and a GF flatbread, which was just their toasted version on thr wrapped, served open-faced. She explained that they toast the GF items on grill to the left and "regular" breaded items on the right. She also explained that they have color-coded knifes when cutting the breads, so as not to risk any gluten relatef issues. The fact that this place is across from the Hilton and Hampton Inn makes this small cafe a win for GF beach-goers! In the same building is their smoothie bar called Beach Pops, which has tons of GF options when wanting a cool, refreshing sweet drink at the beach. In May 2013, they will also be expanding to offer grocery items and dinner. They are currently open from 9am till 5pm. Enjoy!

The store has a wide variety of GF offerings and recently expanded the store to provide more organic produce.

  • Monterey Bay Fish Grotto

    2 starsMarch 05, 2013

1411 Grandview Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15211

If you are looking for a place with a great view, this is it! We went for dinner and were dazzled by the lights of the city below. GF-wise we were reassured that most everything on the menu could be modified. That said, the only things we really enjoyed were the amazingly delicious GF crab cakes and GF dinner rolls. The entrees on the other hand were suprisingly underwhelming, considering they were $30 each just a piece of salmon and a piece of Chilean Sea bass. My dining companion's salmon was atop a pool of the champagne sauce that sounded promising on the menu and based on our waitress' enthusiasm we felt like it would be a good choice -- wrong. It was extremely salty and much too rich for someone with a sensitive stomach. As I write this review, we are back in our hotel room, having been up since 5am with my friend pacing the room nauseated. He swears he it is the richness of the sauce. It looked like a Hollandaise type sauce, which never sits well with him. My bass was also disappointing. The jerk sauce used canned pineapples, which was shocking considering this place is considered fine dining. Plus, they wouldn't provide rice as a side! Who doesn't offer Celiacs rice?! The waitress said it was due to the chef needing to reserve it for other guests ordering the special that evening, which seemed ridiculous to me considering how cheap and available rice is. For that matter, the waitress, whom the manager said was one of their best for knowing what menu items are adaptable for people food sensitivities, was not as impressive to me. She had to keep going back to the kitchen to ask if something is GF safe and had to be prompted for answers, despite having just asked (supposedly). She couldn't even get us tea in a timely fashion or keep our glasses full. And when I mentioned crumbs on our bread plates and table when we first sat down, she only changed out the plates and then later placed our forks on the dirty table cloth. In the end, there are other places in the city worth eating at for fine dining that offer a more accomodating GF experience with a higher quality product over all. If you are going or want to experience the awesome view, then I'd go for the truly amazing GF crab cakes and GF rolls. I give this review 3 stars, because the GF crab caked and GF rolls are a rare treat for celiacs and the quality if these items may indicate that our entrees were just an unfortunate experience. That happens...but at $124 for two people (not including tip and without alcohol or dessert), I would only return if someone else was paying. Update as of 3/5/2013: we are suspecting my friend might have had food On Sunday, we spent 6 hours at the ER with very stubborn nausea. He vomited 3 times and had diarrhea several times. ER doc didn't think it was from Celiac or Gastoparesis, considering celiac is much more intense vomiting and watery diarrhea and my friend's gastroparesis doesn't involve vomiting and diarrhea. We told several locals about our experience and they said the locals don't eat here unless they are going for the crab cakes, which I'll admit were the highlight of the meal.

Excellent gluten free dinner! the make the GF pasta in a clean pot with clean utensils and fresh water to avoid cross contamination. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the lemon caper sauce is fantastic. My friend who also dines GF had the chicken griglio with GF pasta. Our only complaint was the portion size. We were quite hungry later.

Beautiful dining experience. Don't be deceived by the small gluten free menu. Most of the actual menu can be modified for gluten free. The manager reassured me the kitchen takes necessary precautions to avoid cross-contamination. I had the salmon on gluten-free rice pasta, while my friend, who also dined GF, had the steak and mashed potatos. We both had the butternut squash soup which was the highlight of the dinner, along with the GF bread. Pricey and a bit on the salty side, but the live jazz made up for it

Safe gluten free dining experience with a nice selection on the GF menu. GF pasta is prepared in a separate pot and in separate water from gluten-containing pasta to avoid cross-contamination issues. I has the Alfredo with a grilled salmon substitute. It was creamy and lightly seasoned. My travel companion had the GF Leo's Pasta with lots of onions, red peppers, pancetta, and grilled chicken, drenched in olive oil. Overall it was a safe experience in a quiet dining experience. P. S. Don't lean on the tables...I almost toppled over when I went to sit down! LOL

We had a great GF experience here last night for dinner...much better than my first time. Note to self: this is a seafood place, so stick with the seafood. I'm glad I had the swordfish last night with Bernaise butter sauce and GF french fries. Yes, they actually offer GF safe french fries. I literally asked the waitress, the kitchen manager and the guy that brought our food if these were safe. The manager explained that they get a clean pan and fresh oil and fry them up separate from the regularly fried foods. My fellow GF-diner had the salmon and red onion jam, which he raved about all night. We skipped dessert, but we will definitely be back for me. In case you are wondering, on a previous and not as appetizing experience I had the jasmine rice special with broccoli...thus, I advocate the fish over the other specials. Update 2/6/2013: lunch today was delicious. I had the GF seafood casserole with GF crumbs on top and a side of braised greens. The scallops were the best part. Warning: this dish is drawning in butter and garlic; it could be a bit messy if you have an important meeting or are dressed nicely. Eat carefully...but enjoy the buttery goodness!

We had an amazing GF experience here. The hostess reassured me when placing my reservations (which I highly.suggest doing) that they are the place in town for the best GF dining. I concur! The GF menu offers soups, salads, multiple appetizers options, several interesting entree items, a GF beverage menu, and a granita for dessert. The beef carpaccio made for a nice appetizer, the crab bisque a nice surprise, the pork tenderloin in a molasses sauce will be a repeat, the salmon my friend had was cooked perfectly, and the sweet potato souffle was fantastic. I can't wait to return and try out the other entrees! Update review as of 2/6/2013: another great experience. This time we tried the GF cod with rissoto and African squash. Yum!

  • West Egg Cafe

    5 starsFebruary 05, 2013

I had a great GF experience here. They offer breakfast all day but also have lunch and dinner items. Though they offer a GF menu, make sure to request to speak with a manager. I spoke with Sarah before visiting the cafe, and she reassured me that though they do not have separate untensils and cookware or cooking space for GF diners, they do follow a protocol of washing the cookware and untensils prior to preparing a GF order. Tell your waiter to mark Gluten Free at the top of your ticket, also. The 3 egg omelette with Swiss cheese and a side of potatos and onions hit the spot. My travel companion also ordered off the GF menu, enjoying every bite of the Pile Up, which contained 2 eggs, bacon, potatos, onion, and bell peppers. Coffee was excellent, as was the assortment of herbal teas. Being morning and having a busy day ahead of us, we passed on the selection of GF dessert options, which included a flourless chocolate cake and GF macaroons. I look forward to tasting them on my return visit! Also, it is worth noting that the cafe is in walking distants to Yeah Burger, Osteria de Figo, and Bachanalia, all of which offer safe GF opportunities worth exploring.

Excellent frozen yogurt! They always have 2 options that are GF. The brand is called Only 8, which also states they are GF. I was told cross-contamination is avoided by not allowing other frozen yogurts that are not GF in the same bin. The peanut butter frozen yogurt is a personal flavor. The rotate the options so there is always something new to try, if your adventursome

  • Carrabba's

    5 starsOctober 27, 2012

3917 Airport Blvd., Mobile, AL 36608

We had a great GF dining experience here for lunch. The owner Monty came and reassured us that his kitchen staff is well-trained in GF cooking and described how they change gloves and cooking utensils and bowls to avoid cross-contamination. They also dedicate a section of their grill to GF grilling. After spending several minutes with the owner, we felt confident this meal would be a good one. The GF soup made for a perfect appetizer on a cold October with just a slight spicyness on the back of the throat. Our entrees were the Chicken Bryan and the Chicken Trio with steamed spinach and broccoli. The chicken was perfectly tender and the cheese was so creamy! If we weren't so stuffed, we'd have tried the dessert, which gives us something to look forward to next time! I highly recommend giving this place a try, particularly if you've had a bad experience at other Carraba's. Monty is the new owner as of a year ago and is himself a chef. He takes GF dining seriously and it shows. I suggest speaking with him if you choose to dine here, or ask to speak with Tommy Holland (manager) or TC Largay (kitchen manager).

    5 starsOctober 23, 2012

2101 Epcot Resorts Blvd, Orlando, FL 32836

Great atmosphere! The chef made me feel completely at ease about the multiple GF options. I opted for the potato wrapped snapper with the red wine reduction sauce all over a bed off risotto. The GF dinner rolls were warm.and delicious. It was nice to have them to dip in the fantastic pesto sauce that came with my appetizers of mussels. When it came to dessert, I was greatly surprised. I was expecting the chef to offer a flourless chocolate cake, creme brulee, or fruit and ice cream. Instead, she had several unique options, of which I had some sort of white chocolate dome filled with marscapone cheese with apples and figs! I will definitely be back. I highly recommend calling in advance for reservations. You have to call Disney Dining to make the reservations, which you can do as far as 180 days prior to the day you want to dine there. This place fills up fast, so if possible, you'll want to reserve early.

Hands down this restaurant is in my top 5 favorite places to eat...anywhere! From the mind-blowing beef carpaccio appetizer to the lamb and chicken entrees with THE best finger potatoes. The rissoto with mushroom was as good as anywhere in NYC. The chocolate decadence dessert with homemade ice cream will WOW you! Make sure to call ahead to discuss your gluten free accomodation needs. Weston was our chef who handled everything masterfully. His father-in-law has Celiac disease, so he is very familiar with gluten free cooking and how to avoid cross contamination. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as we did.

    5 starsOctober 03, 2012

34 Frazier Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37405

What a fun, funky place to eat! It was my first time to eat a hot dog at a restaurant since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease. The waiter told me his twun daughters have Celiac and was very empathetic and accomodating with all my questions. The dogs are all beef and are made at the restaurant, as are the many ketchup options. The maynaisse with red wine vinagerette was a hit. The fries are prepared in a dedicated fryer...what a treat! The buns are Udi's bagels. I'm not sure why they don't use the Udi's hot dog buns. I can't wait till my next visit to the area. It was a tastey, but inexpensive way to eat out!

  • 212 Market

    2 starsOctober 02, 2012

212 Market St, Chattanooga, TN 37402 we had a safe GF experience here. That said, the quality of the food didn't match the price. I paid $70 for two people to eat. The waitress was not reassuring about the fried polenta being fried away from breaded products. While she left the polenta fries off, she made know effort to provide a substitute or adjust the bill. Though the steak was adequate, the sauce that accompanied my steak tasted like it was out of a can. It was definitely not worth $30. The custard in the creme brulee was over-cooked. It could be that I went on a Tuesday and had a less experienced chef. If you go, opt for the GF chocolate truffle dessert. It looked better. It also might help to call ahead and request a more GF knowledgeable waiter/waitress. Mine brought BREAD to the table after clearly stating we were dining gluten free! So would I go back...perhaps on the weekend to give it a second chance. The mashed potatos were good, as was the regular polenta

The GF menu has several tasty options and the staff is well trained about GF accommodations and how to avoid cross-contamination. If you are a grits person (and even if you are not), you will LOVE the cheese grits here...AMAZING! The duck confit with root vegetable is also pretty tasty. Finally, going to New Orleans is a fun food experience again!

7005 East Chase Parkway, Montgomery, AL 36117

I must say that I had a truly pleasant GF experience at this Red Robin in Montgomery, AL, while on my way to a business trip in Atlanta. I was nervous to try this place, considering the GF menu having SO MANY disclaimers. Upon calling, the manager Derek reassured me that they offer GF buns, prepare the food very carefully to avoid cross-contamination, and have a dedicated GF fryer for the french fries. With this reassurance, I decided to give them a try (a bold move considering the major business meeting I have in Atlanta tomorrow). My waitress, Toya, was even more reassuring. She quickly instructed me not to use the special Red Robin salt seasoning on my fries, and shared with me that a she regularly has people request GF accommodations. Pam from the local GIG group also recommended I try it, after sharing that their support group recently had a meeting there. I will definitely returning to this Red Robins and hope to have similarly pleasant experience at other locations within this restaurant chain.

6/23/2012 -- Another great time at Atlas! This time the executive sous chef Jason Duckworth (check him out on youtube) came a spoke to us about GF options. The manager, Jean-Pierre, and the chef went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. I started with their scrumptious coyote squash appetizer. I then had the salmon with GF Chinese 5 spice over spaghetti squash with a hint of orange and cherry tomatoes and a side of the most amazing gouda grits with monterey jack and sharp cheddar cheese. My friend had the snapper and all the same fixing. We were too full from eating for dessert...but they have a delightful creme brulee for those with a GF sweet tooth!

Every time I'm in Atlanta on business, I have to eat at Metro Fresh. The menu changes daily, so check the website or give them a call for the daily gluten free options. I've had amazing GF chili (both red and white chili), yummy fresh GF blueberry muffins, grilled chicken, Duck Confit, seasonally fresh salads, etc. Their location in the Atlanta Botanical Gardens is wonderfully convenient and the hot chili during the Christmas light show was a nice way to warm up in the winter, along their GF apple cider.

  • Ya Ya's Euro Bistro

    5 starsJune 07, 2012

17711 Chenal Pkwy, Little Rock, AR 72223

Ya Ya's has a delightful, though somewhat limited selection of GF options directly listed on the menu with a star next to the GF dishes. I say limited b/c they do not offer an appetizer or dessert, despite being a "from scratch" kitchen. Nonetheless, the entree specials are well executed. I thoroughly enjoyed the Duck Confit with rice pilaf and craisins, Beef Tenderloin in chianti sauce (minus the gorgonzola cheese) and risotto, salmon salad, and Roasted Chicken. I had the risotto at each meal along with a side of the most amazing sweet potato puree I've ever had! If I'm ever back in Little Rock, I'll definitely be back.

  • Dempsey Bakery

    5 starsJune 07, 2012

323 S Cross St, Little Rock, AR 72201

The best gluten free bakery I've been to yet! I travel all over the country and this is some of the best gluten free bread I've ever had. I actually had to ask the owner if it was gluten free (which she confirmed resoundingly)! Their deli menu changes regularly and is growing. Their primary focus is baked goods, so stop by for some bread and have a sandwich while you are there. They research every ingredient in great detail. I like that they have little plates in front of the breads for sampling the breads...and they don't look at you funny if you have seconds!

  • The Grand Marlin

Excellent experience! They have an impressive GF menu. I had the oysters Rockefeller and lobster with vanilla butter sauce. On 5/5/12, we celebrated our anniversary in Pcola and had lunch here. The menu changes daily, but always has GF options clearly marked on it. The GF jerk chicken salad was great and the salmon was the best i've ever had! I had it on top of sweet potato hash....sinfully good!

  • The Fish House

    5 starsMay 05, 2012

Excellent GF experience! Lindsey, the manager, is very knowledgable about GF needs. She used to work for the Marriot in Seattle during a large Celiac convention. Make sure to speak with her or ask to speak to a chef. We had a tuna appetizer and they offered GF soy sauce by Kikkoman. Entree was grilled cobia, side of grits and mashed potatos. Dessert was creme brulee. On 5/4/12, we celebrated our 7 anniversary at their sister restaurant next door called the Atlas Oyster Bar. The manager is over both restaurants and was very accomodating. He even had Chef Billy come speak with me about his suggestions for a tasty GF experience. He served us a chayote hash, grouper with a lemon cream sauce, mashed potatos, and gouda cheese grits! I can't wait to go back.

Amazing! You have to treat yourselves to this. The bread is moist and the flavor combinations are perfect. If you can do nuts, try the CRAW bread. If not, you will also enjoy the pumpkin bread

Love Chipotle! Just make sure to ask the server to change his/her gloves. The chips are GF too. Lunch is crazy busy, so try to come early to avoid confusion.

Fantastic experience! 90% of the menu is gluten-free and a delicious take on Latin American cuisine. You have to try the fried Yucca fries (yes...from a dedicated fryer). Word of warning...skip the steaks. Yes, they are gluten free, but they are VERY chewy. The chicken and the sides are fantastic.

Celebrated my 50th bday at the Fleming's in Destin. The carpaccio was delish as an appetizer, as was the petite filet and side of Fleming's potato (which is au gratin with a twist). My dining companion ended the evening with ice cream with fudge sauce. The only negative was the chefs lack of knowledge about the mango tea...i even suggested they contact the Fleming's in Nashville to confirm, which being New Year's Eve they were too busy to do. Nonetheless, everything else was great and I appreciated the staff being careful.

One of the best GF experiences I have had! It is about 15 minutes from the airport. Don't be put off by the neighbirhood...this restaurant is high end. Had a fantastic celery root soup, salmon with risotto, and mashed potatos. My friend had GF short rib, spaghetti squash, and we split the flourless chocolate cake with hazelnut gelato...yum!

My taste buds are still dancing from this superior experience. I had the Taste of Africa for the appetizer with crispy lentil flatbread. Very exotic and spicy...the humus is not as hot but equally amazing. My entree was the braised short ribs on potato puree. The cabernet sauce complemented this most tender piece of meat perfectly. Dessert is something I will talk about for decades to come. I had the Last Cup...chocolate and coffee...yum!
