I ordered a salad here, and I honestly think everyone at the table felt bad for me. It came as a small pile of lettuce with a few pieces of bacon on it and some strips of cheese. There was a little bit of Ranch on it. The salad was ten dollars...So I didn't get sick, but the food was really low in quantity, quality and taste. You're probably better off ordering a meat dish here.
1810 Southwest White Birch Circle #115, Ankeny, IA 50023
The food here was good. I didn't have a reaction from anything. Our server seemed a little out of touch with what gluten-free meant. We questioned him about the salad dressings of which he stated there was only one of which I could eat. The salad then came out with croutons. This of course was slightly disappointing, and I didn't eat any. However, the rest of the meal went well.
2712 Beaver Ave, Des Moines, IA 50310
Very good food, I wasn't sick from here. Like others, I think this is certainly one of those places you have to be extra vigilant at. I don't really care for their gluten free bread but the rest of the food that I have eaten there has made up for it. The woman I ordered my food from didn't seem to understand or care about my ordering from the gluten free menu. It always makes me a little leery when people seem under-educated. Nonetheless, they have remarkably good food.
4420 220th Trail, Amana, IA 52203
This restaurant is in the middle of the Amana Colonies in a perfect location for lunch. There aren't many other gf eating options around. It has very good food, the staff are very careful and will answer any of your questions about the menu. I really enjoyed my meal. There are about four choices on the gf section of the menu which makes it slightly limited but at least they are very good ones. Their strawberry jam is amazing.
543 28th St, Des Moines, IA 50312
The cupcakes here are amazing. They have so many different gf flavors to try. Of course they never have them all available at the same time, so I have to keep going back. The cupcakes are some of the best I have ever had. I've only had one truly bad experience out of the twelve or so times I've been there. I went in just before they were opened and they accidentally gave me a regular chocolate bottom, and I was sick. I also had someone try to sell me a vegan cupcake on the premise that it was gluten free when in fact that is not true. Be vigilant here and order only from what you see up-front clearly labeled as gluten free. If you're observant and careful, this place can provide some of the best cupcakes you've ever had.
17304 Davenport St #100, Omaha, NE 68118
I don't usually order alcoholic drinks because I never know what goes into these mixes, however, the drinks here are to die for. The gf ones are clearly labeled. They are sooo good. I had a pina colada which I then duplicated using the same ingredients at home. Their burgers and fries were also fantastic. I had no problem eating my food and loved every bite.
810 N Ankeny Blvd, Ankeny, IA 50023
This frozen yogurt restaurant is quite tasty. I have eaten here a few times. Their allergy/ingredient information is listed on their back wall over by the bathroom. Everything is clearly labeled. Most all of their frozen yogurt is gluten free. However, they very rarely have dairy/lactose free sorbets so if that's an issue I suggest going elsewhere. Sometimes they will have flavors that are not on the back chart which also can make it difficult. Otherwise it's a very tasty place for a cold snack.
1745 Southeast Delaware Avenue #400, Ankeny, IA 50021
We go here about once every other week. Their frozen sorbets are to die for. I am also dairy free, so I love that I can choose from multiple sorbets here. The frozen yogurt is for the most part all gluten free. Any flavors which are not are listed clearly on the cup. I never get any toppings because of cc risk, but it's a great, safe place to go with a ton of gf options.
1607 Park Pl Blvd, St Louis Park, MN 55416
The food here is sooooo good. I ate here while traveling, and I ate the leftover food the next day. I had no reaction to my reuban sandwich and fries. They use Udi's bread for an extra $1 I think. It was amazing! I would recommend this to anyone eating in this area. It is also a beautiful restaurant with amazing staff who understand cross contamination. I was hand delivered a menu from the manager, couldn't have asked for more.

I always order a steam pot here. I love them. I'm not a mega eater when I go out tot eat, but I feel comfortable eating a lot here and knowing I'm not going to be glutened. Each time we go, I make sure my waitress is informed. I have not had a problem in any of the times I have been here. I definitely recommend the steam pots on the gf menu to gf people.
110 South Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50266
I like this place a lot. I have eaten here way more gluten free than I ever did before. The one thing that gets me is the gf plate thing. Sometimes I get a different type of plate and sometimes I don't. This is horrifying and they always tell me it's gluten free. I'm not sure what this is about. I have not had a gluten reaction here, and the waitstaff seems very knowledgeable. Their beef dishes are so good. The lettuce wraps to die for. The egg drop soup is good. The only thing I haven't liked was that chocolate dome.
110 North Ankeny Boulevard, Ankeny, IA 50023
I have to be honest, this place scares me to death. It is a bread man's paradise. I did order a gf sandwich here which they prepared with different gloves in a different area. My sandwich was basically reuben (my fav). I also had the trees + raisins salad. I have had their gf peanut butter cookies before, but I don't know exactly how they prepare those. Their food is very, very good.
11151 Hickman Road, Urbandale, IA 50322
I ordered gluten free here without a problem. I think I've eaten here twice since I've had to go gluten free. Their food is pretty good. I never had a problem ordering from here even though some of their front staff are not quite as knowledgeable compared to other restaurants. I would probably go back again.
3910 University Ave, West Des Moines, IA 50266
I ordered the nutty mixed salad. For taste it was a 10 out of 10. Unfortunately I ordered my salad with ranch and it came with another non-gluten free salad dressing. Not knowing that, I ended up eating some of it and was sick. I was just be extra careful in double checking your order to assure it really is gf.
3600 WESTOWN PARKWAY, WEST DES MOINES IA 50266
Like another reviewer I was served mushy pasta which is just plain horrible. The next time I went, it took almost an hour and a half to prepare my food which they blamed on my gf needs and my desire for well-done meat. I didn't feel very welcomed here and probably will not return.
2410 SE Tones Drive, Ankeny, IA 50021
Um yum! Everytime we go here I have no problems with ordering or with my food. We have always loved Outback. Their food is really, really good. I'm able to order a wide variety of things. The waiters always know how to work with me when I come in. It's a fantastic place.
201 Southeast Oralabor Road, Ankeny, IA 50021
I love that this pizza comes on it's own tray. I have ordered here countless times and never had a problem. Some of their flavors were not necessarily to my liking, but I haven't had any issues with being glutened. I have eaten their salad bar once while waiting on my order since I was with others. I also didn't have any issues with that. Though you do have to be ever so careful with buffet style environments, so I have not done that again.
3131 8th Street Southwest, Altoona, IA 50009
I'm uncertain about Claxon's, I felt like the food was really good. I did, however, feel sort of sick the rest of the day after eating here. I think you have to be extra careful with places that list things on their menu with just a symbol. I never said anything about needing my food to be specifically gluten free, I just ordered what was marked.
4345 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, IA 50310
I loved BBWW before I went gluten free. Of course my choices are now limited, I still enjoy eating here. I usually order their naked chicken tenders, without the seasoning, and their fries. They have multiple, great sauces you can still use. To date I have never had a problem. The waitresses are always super attentive to marking down no seasoning. I usually go during lunch or during a less busy period just to cut down on any chances of catastrophe to my gut.
5055 Northwest 2nd Street, Des Moines, IA 50313
While I never saw a menu, I was happy to see multiple allergen posters. I quickly could find something I wanted to eat. Food has always come out fast here. I didn't have a reaction from the bbq nacho-like meal I ate. It was very tasty.
4050 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, IA 50310
I ordered the pasta and was given a roll and a salad. I don't think I could have asked for more. While the wait staff wasn't entirely knowledgeable, the kitchen staff was. My food was served obviously different from other orders. I never had any kind of reaction. The food was fabulous and was served rather quickly. I felt like I was dining normally. Their gf rolls are fabulous and reminded me of what "gluten filled bread" tastes like.
85 Northeast Dartmoor Drive, Waukee, IA 50263
I have never felt so safe eating somewhere. This bakery is fantastic. They take care not just in using gluten free products but also dairy free. You don't have to worry about any risk of cross contamination because there won't be any. Their cupcakes are moist and delicious. Love their half price table. Their prices are very reasonable considering some of the downtown cupcake offerings. Location is a little far, but for gluten free it's a fabulous find.
223 4th St, Des Moines, IA 50309
Very tasty. I felt very safe eating here. I enjoyed my pizza and had no reaction from it. Fong's is a fun place to enjoy many different types of pizza. They certainly were easy to talk to and provided helpful suggestions in ordering.
