We are here a few times while we were in town. The first day was fantastic--very knowledgeable server, excellent food. I can't say enough about the shrimp and grits!! The ahi tuna with GF tamari was good, but I like it with a tad more sear and still rare. There was another day where we had a different, clearly new server. She did not understand the GF menu or options. The BLT that I had bacon, tomato, a huge chunk of avocado that was not ripe. The bread the BLT was served on was okay, but not very toasty. The GF appetizer roll served with all of our meals was really, really good, as was the creme brulee and the GF fruity brownie thingy with ice cream. I would recommend this to other people with celiac, but make absolutely sure your server understands!!

I love this place, but you need to be really careful about what you eat. The salads can be made in a clean bowl without croutons. I've never had a problem with the tomato soup or strawberries romanov. I avoid anything made on the flat top due to the risk of cross contamination, but I would love to know if the potato galette is something I could eat now. I used to love it, before we figured out what was wrong with my gut a few years back.In general, excellent food, but be smart about it and exercise good judgement.

Just plain awesome. Thank you, Joe! Not only was the food fresh and fabulous, the guys were great and gave me lots of other ideas for places to go. Can't recommend it enough. 2/2015: I dined here again this year, and it seems to maybe have changed ownership?? They now at least share the space with a Mediterranean food place and the Mediterranean guys working there that night had no idea what a gluten already was and tried to convince me that the wheat couscous was something I could eat. I stuck with what I've gotten the past few times I have eaten there and didn't feel great afterwards. Sad face. Maybe Joe was just on vacation??

I love Chipotle, and it kills me to say this is the second really bad experience I've had. The staff just didn't care about anything. They didn't care about the customers and were to busy doing just about nothing to help the people in line and there was trash all over the shared dining area and more importantly, the customer side of the Chipotle counter. I tried to tell them I had an allergy and was mostly ignored. I'm also sad to report that I got very, very sick again. I will not be eating here again. It's too bad because there aren't many options at BWI for me.

The waitress made a great effort to make sure that myself and my young niece with a gluten allergy were well cared for, but there was disagreement as to what we could and could not eat. The menu said that the sausage is GF and could be added to the GF rotini and vegetable marinara, but the cooks said it wasn't. She was worried, so they decided to cook the sausage separately and plate it separately so I could decide whether or not I was willing to try it... It made me uneasy as the cooks and printed menu were in disagreement. We still don't know whether or not the sausage is or is not GF, but at least they cared enough to make sure I knew there was a risk. She also took the time to make sure myself and my niece had a safe bowl of salad to ourselves. The sausage-less pasta was pretty good overall, although the noodles did fall apart rather easily. The vegetables were appropriately cooked as well. My only question is who do you believe--the printed menu or the cooks and wait staff??

I had a really hard time deciding how to rate the restaurant. We arrived as a part of 12, and were told it would be 25 minutes. We were told at some point the table would be ready in a minute, and somehow, some other party of 12 that arrived after us was seated instead. We ended up waiting an hour. The manager was apologetic, and said we would have 2 wait staff assigned to get us taken care of right away when we were seated. It still took multiple requests to get kids menus (we had 5 with us!) and multiple more requests to get adult silverware. My glass of wine came on with lipstick on it, and the special order for my 2 year olds niece, who also had a severe wheat allergy, came out with the bun, even though the server promised she'd make sure it was identified as a GF meal without the bun. Again, the manager was very apologetic and brought me a new glass of wine that looked like it had been spit-shined just for me right away. It seemed like the 2 waitresses assigned our table were squabbling and bickering with each other. On the other hand, my steak was perfect and no one had any complaints about the food. My niece didn't feel great that night, but I did just fine. I think that maybe the staff/manager was new or something, but they REALLY need to work on their interpersonal communication. I also found it interesting that even after all the mistakes that were made, our party of 12 still paid full price for everything.

On top of that, all tips go to LCAS. I'm definitely going to eat here again! The only down side is that the woman taking the order seemed like she wasn't sure what GF meant, but I didn't get sick at any rate.

I have eaten here several times, and gotten pretty sick about half of those times, even though I always order the same thing. The current staff doesn't seem to care much about anything, really. The last time, there were dirty dishes on nearly every table and only one patron dining, and the rest of the tables had trash or sticky stuff smeared on them. Today the tables were mostly clean, but the dining room is otherwise filthy, with food and trash all over. That's not to say the food isn't usually good, but I've not had a good run of it here as of late. The 2 people I've spoken with the last 2 visits had no idea what "gluten allergy" meant. Maybe I should stop coming for dinner and try lunch instead?

The young man and woman at the registers couldn't tell me what my options were--they told me that I would know better than they would. I looked up the GF menu on my phone to be safe. Even so, I had a very rough day and night. Haven't been that sick after a meal in a long time... And I had such high hopes :(

I gave Jason's an extra star just for having GF bread and working to provide several options. My sister just LOVES the deli, but I'm not overly impressed with the quality of the offerings. It's okay, just not stellar. They do make up for that with a larger quantity of offerings. My stomach did get a little unhappy after eating here once, but no issues since then. I would not call it celiac friendly.

My lovely sister brought me takeout. We shared brisket, collard greens, roasted jalapenos, sweet potatoes, green beans and corn. It was all wonderful. The brisket was juicy and tender, and the sides were all good. My only complaint was that it seemed a little salty, and I would have loved something to put out the mouth fire... They did have GF cookies already made as well.

Went here for the first time last week. I was surprised they don't have GF summer rolls, but the spring rolls were quite good, as was the lotus salad. The beef for the grilled beef and rice noodles was tender, but bland. My husband reported that the non-GF stir fried beef and vegetables was too much like the canned Chinese you can get anywhere. Still, a very enjoyable meal.

The guys working were great. They took care to try and prevent cross-contamination. I don't know if they know if their toppings are GF or not-- I didn't think to ask. I don't know if hard core celiacs would be safe for that reason and because the risk of cross-contamination. I had a stellar pizza heaped with awesome toppings and most importantly, I did not get sick. As an added bonus, you can eat on the covered deck outside, AND there is a fabulous grocery in the same building that had a great selection of GF food, including gnocchi! This is my new favorite place to hit after a long hike in Shenandoah.

They go to great lengths to keep celiacs safe, and they did a great job. The crab cakes were stellar and the GF bread and seasonal vegetables were also good. I wish the cheese on the French onion soup had been browned. The fried chicken was okay, but the carrot cake was not so good--very dense, bland and left a lot to be desired. At least the ice cream was fabulous! I also had to remind the waiter 3 times before I got my glass of wine. All in all, it was a good meal with room for improvements.

This place is awesome! I get one of the beef soups with the normal (rice) noodles and beef in grape leaves and have never had an issue. Avoid the fried rolls--they are not GF. The fresh rolls are excellent, but I would avoid the peanut sauce as it usually has hoisin and/or soy sauce mixed in.

There is no specific GF menu, but the waitstaff that helped me were both knowledgeable. The blackened fish tacos were very good, the salad fresh and tasty and the mahi platter with the pineapple-mango salsa was wonderful! If I get there again, I'll ask for the fruit salsa for the tacos. The prices were reasonable and portions enormous. Watch out for hidden soy sauce!

We had artichoke dip and shrimp and grits. My husband (no gut problems) had the salmon platter. Everything we had was rich, rich, rich--smothered and covered in cheese with more cheese on top. It was good, but VERY heavy. Hubby said salmon and cornbread were also quite good. I enjoyed the meal but would prefer it toned down. We will not be ordering the artichoke dip again.

Loved it. The GF bread was the best I've ever had, and the scallops were melt-in-your-mouth wonderful. The creme brulee and jumbo shrimp were also amazing. The only (minor) disappointment was the GF French onion soup. There was too much of the GF bread chunks and not enough onions, but it was still very good.

    4 starsFebruary 17, 2014

3930 Las Vegas Blvd S (The Shoppes at Mandalay Place), Las Vegas, NV 89119

The menu is a little unclear. There are notices that they carry gluten-free crust and 2 different kinds of GF pasta, but the server was not at all knowledge as to what kind of toppings I could safely eat. He didn't know if the buffalo sauce or ranch were GF, and had no idea that the whiskey sour cream was a big no-no. I played it safe with a pizza whose ingredients appeared to be likely GF, and I did fine. The chicken on the BBQ pizza was bland by itself and there wasn't enough pineapple on the Hawaii 5-0, but the GF crust was good, the pizza was overall quite good, and it was a satisfying meal.

  • Chipotle

    5 starsJanuary 26, 2014

21031 Tripleseven Rd., Sterling, VA 20165

I eat here probably twice a month (maybe more often) and have never had a problem. The individual staff members may not have specific GF education, but the reality is that almost all of the products running through all Chipotles are GF. The notable exception is their soft, flour tortillas. They also note in their online information that the corn salsa should be avoided by individuals with severe reactivity as it may be cross-contaminated. It's great that Chipotle as an organization did their homework and is so forward with information! The biggest reason I don't eat here more often is the wait at lunchtime can be unbelievable. Overall, I still love it.

  • Glory Days Grill

    3 starsJanuary 26, 2014

21800 Towncenter Plaza, Sterling, VA 20164

The service here is variable, but more often than not, leaves a lot to be desired. They are supposed to have gluten-free buns, but this location does not carry them and the menu clearly says ask for everything without bread. I have had several things off the GF menu that have gone well and others that have not. I suspect it's a lack of education and consistency in training leading to cross-contamination. Still, it's nice to have a place to hang out with the guys and watch the game.

    4 starsJanuary 26, 2014

    Lake Buena Vista, FL 32821

The lemon cupcake was just wonderful, and the cookie crunch donuts were also very good, especially the chocolate one. The brownie cupcake was dry and hard and the red velvet wasn't "red velvety enough". It's also nearly impossible to find the shop, wedged between Lego land and the dinosaur place, and $3.75/cupcake or donut is a lot, but there's something to be said about a bakery that's "safe".

I had GF pasta and soup without any issues. It's nice to go somewhere that they have more than just one or two options, and really nice not to have to pay a fortune to keep from getting sick! Very affordable and quite tasty. The only detractor would have been what seemed like an awfully long wait for a small meal in an empty restaurant, but we weren't in a hurry.

  • Matanzas Innlet Restaurant

    5 starsJanuary 23, 2014

    8805 A1A S, St Augustine, FL 32080

The (mostly) crab cakes were really good. I mean, lick-your-plate-clean-and-ask-for-more kind of good. This was the first time I've been able to try a GF crab cake, and I have really been missing them! The pizza was also pretty good, although the pepperoni wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped and I have had better GF pizza crust, although this wasn't bad. The tuna steak was also wonderful and to be honest, these were some of the best fries I've ever had. The portions are generous, food is fresh and server very helpful. I was disappointed that they only had the marbled cheesecake as a GF dessert option. Cheesecake isn't my favorite and I had heard such good things about their dessert, I was really looking forward to it. Regardless, I will be coming back the next time.

  • Luli's Cupcakes

    5 starsJanuary 23, 2014

82 San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine, FL 32084

I stopped here for a friend and was pleasantly surprised that there were a few gluten-free cupcakes and macaroons as well. It turns out the woman working (who I think may be the owner possibly) has celiac disease. The cupcakes have a disclaimer that say that while entirely gluten-free ingredients were used, it is prepared in a kitchen making 'normal' stuff so cross-contamination is possible, although they try very hard to avoid it. The chocolate-peanut butter cupcake was amazing--fluffy and moist and just plain sinful. As an added bonus, I didn't get sick. I highly recommend stopping here. One slight negative is a limited selection, but at least you know they are fresh and fabulous.

  • Greek Flame Taverna

    4 starsJanuary 23, 2014

7600 Doctor Phillips Boulevard #4, Orlando, FL 32819

The lamb loin was excellent, as were the lemon potatoes. The wait staff wanted to be helpful, but neither she nor the cooks were entirely sure what might contain gluten, and one helpful gent kept bringing out pitas for me at every course. There also weren't any dessert options that we could be sure that were safe. Even so, it was a great meal. I would stick with things unlikely to be problematic, like eating cucumber slices with hummus, any of the roasted meat dishes, and the toasted potatoes instead of the rice, which is made with yellow rice and may or may not be safe.

  • Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center

    3 starsJanuary 21, 2014

6000 West Osceola Parkway, Kissimmee, FL 34746

I'll here for a conference and was very concerned I would have trouble finding acceptable food. They do, in fact, offer a gluten-free alternative, but you have to ask. They have a salad option every day, and thankfully have had 1 hot option the last 2 days. Nothing spectacular, just chicken and rice noodles or chicken and rice, but edible. I appreciate the effort they are making.

  • Bahama Breeze

    3 starsJanuary 21, 2014

8735 Vineland Avenue, Orlando, FL 32821

The manager was very helpful and seemed knowledgeable, but there were painfully few selections. The rice bowls at this location aren't even edible because they use a gluten-containing yellow rice. He did not suggest anything fried as they do not have a separate fryer and cannot prevent cross-contamination. He did say that most other locations still use basmati rice, which more than doubles the available selections. The chicken with cilantro crema was well-prepared and flavorful (albeit salty) and didn't cause any gut problems.

  • Charley's Steak House

    4 starsJanuary 18, 2014

    2901 Parkway Boulevard A1, Kissimmee, FL 34747

Great service, excellent food. Staff is happily able and willing to alter food so it is more gluten-friendly. There is no gluten-free fryer or prep area so cross contamination is possible, altho they try to avoid it. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.
