• Schodack Diner

    3 starsAugust 23, 2015

    1842 Columbia Turnpike, Castleton-on-Hudson, NY 12033

Nice new-ish diner has gluten free bread and corn pasta that can be substituted into their dishes. Large portions, friendly staff. It's a mellow scene.

This relatively new donut shop always has a few gluten free options. Both times I've stopped here I've gotten a GF maple bacon donut, and it was really, really, really good. Not sure how GF the prep areas are - haven't asked ( I know I know ) but recommended.

    4 starsAugust 07, 2015

675 Troy Schenectady Rd., Latham, NY 12110

I've been here a few times over the years, and I'm always impressed by the food. Had a very good steak with mushroom sauce from gluten free menu, along with a minestrone appetizer. Wasn't aware of the non-GF grill as mentioned by another reviewer - but I've never gotten sick from any grilled dish. Then again, I'm not as sensitive as other people. I suppose you can always ask them to clean a grill area first?

  • Alexi's Diner

    5 starsJuly 18, 2015

    294 N Greenbush Rd, Troy, NY 12180

This was already one of the best diners in the area, but with the recent addition of gluten free bread, it'll now be a much more frequent stop for me.The bread wasn't on the menu, but they stock a brand called Fresh Meadow gluten free bread for people who ask for it. its good! very hearty, multigrain type of bread. So if you're gluten free and in this region, stop by this place. Now instead of just getting an omelette or salad, you have much more of the menu opened up to you. EDIT July 2015: They have new seemingly paired down menu, and the food is a bit different. They still have Gluten free bread, but its noticeably drier and thinner when toasted. The Rueben used to be very moist and juicy, and now it's super dry and not worth ordering. Not sure if this is the case with more dishes. Still a great diner with GF options.

  • Five Guys

    4 starsJuly 02, 2015

600 North Greenbush Road, Rensselaer, NY 12144

I had read that all Five Guys locations are Celiac friendly, in that "everything is gluten free except the buns," and this one is not an exception. when you order a bunless burger or hotdog, they ask if it's for an allergy. they'll change gloves and separate your order from anything that could cross contaminate - like if your spouse has a burger with a bun, they'll put it in a separate bag. fries are cooked in peanut oil and are the only thing cooked in that fryer. good fast food for Celiacs.

    49 3rd Street, Troy, NY 12180

Happen to walk by this place in Troy. They just so happen to be serving lots of GF quesadillas that also happen to taste good! Asked about GF safety and cross contamination, and was pleasantly surprised to find out they have a fully GF grill and separate food prep area. Will be back!!! Atmosphere is like a tiny cute diner.

  • Cheesecake Factory

    2 starsJanuary 19, 2015

131 Wolf Rd, Albany, NY 12205

EDIT January 19: Although a few dishes are clearly marked GF, servers seem to be very inconsistently trained on the subject. Fries are supposedly gluten free, but I was told they are only available when there is a clean fryer available. Was also told during my previous visit that the sauce on my burger wasn't safe, but this time I was assured the same sauce was indeed safe. East here at your own risk, because I sure don't trust them. Get your shit straight, Cheesecake Factory. ------------- Hadn't gone here in a while, because they couldn't seem to find me something gluten free off their menu. Well, apparently they've got a new menu with clearly marked GF items and options now! Also, GF hamburger buns and gluten free fries! Americana Cheeseburger A++! Will go again!

  • Burger 21

    4 starsDecember 12, 2014

622 Loudon Rd, Latham, NY 12110

New chain burger place with a separate Gluten Free menu, with GF buns! Points for serving a burger on a bun that's correctly sized - in relation to the patty. This place is eat in or takeout, and also has GF fries with several tasty dipping sauces. These are all clearly marked as GF as well. Will definitely go back again soon. Recommended.

  • World of Beer

    5 starsAugust 28, 2014

1 Crossgates Mall Rd, Albany, NY 12203

This place just opened a few months ago across from the Regal Cinema in Crossgates Mall. They only have two clearly marked gluten free dishes, one of which is a really tasty GF Crabcake plate. They also carry 4 different Gluten Free beer varieties - Greens Triple Blonde and Dubbel Dark & 2 New Planet varieties. Good but pricey.
