Cordon Bleu cook diagnosed celiac 8 or 9 years ago. I like freshly-prepared and delicious real food. I like INTERESTING dishes.
1651 Arden Way, Sacramento, CA 95815
Several options on the menu.
212 South Main Street, Lone Pine, CA 93545
5 stars in terms of gluten-free; they really were excellent in that respect, and I would definitely return here were I in the area. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars rather than 5 is that 4 stars was the consensus of the 4 of us (three of whom are not coeliacs). But if you are coeliac I recommend this place very much. The first thing the server said was "yes of course we can do gluten-free -- the chef hates gluten." There was no language barrier and they even made a vegetarian meal to my friend's specifications that was not on the menu. A pleasant surprise. This place should definitely be on the gluten-free map.
7600 Greenhaven Drive #23, Sacramento, CA 95831
Almost everything on the menu is gluten-free, and it is delicious too.
8996 Grant Line Road, Elk Grove, CA 95624
Rather noisy and drafty basic surroundings but they do gluten-free pizzas in several sizes including 14". We had the Ultimate Veggie large gluten-free pizza. I couldn't eat it: it tasted strongly of margarine or some kind of fake oil product - no olive oil used here, evidently. Please stop using fake products (fake oil, fake butter, fake cheese): they taste disgusting. They had sprinkled dried herbs on top. Talk about unappetising. Very disappointing.
3330 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150
My friend and I enjoyed our gluten-free meals so much after a day skiing nearby recently (OUTSTANDING food at fabulously reasonable prices) that we are driving a 4.5 hour round trip just to eat at this restaurant again tonight. Every dish was so fresh and so beautifully prepared, and portions were generous. The only thing that would improve the food from my personal POV is that one of the dishes had a touch of anise flavor in it, and I dislike that. But the sheer number of gluten-free options, and the friendliness of the servers is such that this will definitely be my restaurant of choice whenever I'm in the area. I tried 3 different dishes and they were all excellent.
1210 Front Street, Sacramento, CA 95814
The manager and server seemed knowledgeable about celiac disease; vast portions; very popular restaurant; my Caesar salad was fine; apparently the shellfish dishes are very tasty; the non-gluten-free pizza was also good, apparently.
1110 Front St, Sacramento, CA 95814
UPDATE: NO LONGER OFFERING GLUTEN-FREE FOOD. Only "gluten-sensitive". PREVIOUS REVIEW: I had the salmon and it was perfectly cooked. My non-celiac's Caesar salad looked very fresh, and the gluten-free dessert called something like "coffee and donuts" was absolutely yummy (and we did not mind that it was a tiny portion because it was such a high quality dessert). The espresso I had here is the best I have found so far in this area. I wish they were open before 10am because I'd like to have my morning coffee here!
1518 Broadway, Sacramento, CA 95818
Lots of gluten-free choices including 4 or 5 desserts! I did not actually enjoy my entree (Chicken Priking) as it was sickly sweet (and my gluten-eating companion said his burger was also too sweet, so the chef may like sweetness a bit too much for the average palate) but the atmosphere was terrific. We will definitely try it again, but maybe next time we will ask the waitress which are the least sweet options. Giving it 5 stars because there really are many options for us celiacs.
6727 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34231
Run by a British celiac this place does fabulous British pub grub that also happens to be gluten-free. The fish and chips was amazing. Highly highly recommended.
1707 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34239
Fabulous very fresh food, served with a smile, and by servers who know about gluten-free. Love this place.
6000 North Terminal Parkway, Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Atlanta, GA 30320
"We don't do gluten-free, only gluten-SENSITIVE"
Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), 6000 N Terminal Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30320
"We can't do gluten-free food."
776 Terminal Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84101
Uninspired but reasonably fresh. Wouldn't go out of my way to return there.
HaKishon St 4, Tiberias, Israel
We needed to find a strictly kosher meat restaurant that could also cater for a vegetarian and a gluten-free diner, which is difficult at the best of times, let alone in a foreign country with a language barrier. The first thing we noticed was that the menu looked promising for all 4 of us; next, the person in charge knew immediately what we meant when we asked if they can accommodate a gluten-free diner. Next, the waitress spoke excellent English and when we mentioned the gluten-free issue, she said, "ah, you're coeliac" - very reassuring. But of course the main reason for the 5 stars is actually the food, which was absolutely delicious, and the nice atmosphere and the wonderful service. Incidentally, this restaurant seemed the busiest of the several restaurants around, and was not the most expensive either. The host was lovely. We had such a good time. Highly recommended.
8941 Elk Grove Boulevard, Elk Grove, CA 95624
Spectacular world-class cuisine. I am in such heaven now, having eaten at this amazingly fabulous restaurant. We had TWO out-of-this-world gluten-free desserts and there were others we could have chosen! And that was after a sublime main course. The attention to detail, the perfect service, and the elegant, tasteful decor all helped make our experience a delight, but the food was what is making me want to tell the world about this place. Be warned that Boulevard Bistro is difficult to find (allow extra time!) but it is so very worth the trouble of finding it! HIGHLY recommended. By FAR the best restaurant in Elk Grove. Actually that is a gross understatement: I've eaten in many top restaurants around the world, and this one is up there with them. My advice is to book a table several days in advance, and tell them you are celiac when you book, to give them notice. This is a very small, intimate restaurant and the menu changes regularly.
9171 Elk Grove Florin Rd, Elk Grove, CA 95624
Note that this place offers delicious pizza labelled 'gluten-free' but they admit that cross contamination is highly likely so unfortunately if you have celiac disease this is not for you. Not sure what the point of advertising that they sell gluten-free pizza if it's not in fact gluten-free. The pizza was absolutely delicious but had I known about the cross contamination issue I would not have taken the risk. Please, Dominos, make it possible for us celiacs to eat your pizza!
Landside, Terminal Five, London Heathrow Airport, Hounslow, United Kingdom TW6 2GA
Really FANTASTIC menu with loads of options, and every single thing I have tried here has been absolutely delicious. HIGHLY recommended for coeliacs and everyone else. A cut above your average airport food, and not expensive either.
3200 E. Airfield Dr., DFW Airport, TX 75261
I have now had four pizzas here and every one of them has been absolutely yummy. Moreover, the people serving are so cheery and nice that no matter how bad - dead tired etc - I have been feeling I have found myself smiling and feeling much better. They also have good tea, which helps!
630 9th Ave, New York, NY 10036
I am so sorry to say this but out of four meals only one was edible. My gluten-free pizza was soggy and clearly microwaved; my dining companion's spaghetti and meatballs was blah - over cooked spaghetti - and my other dining companion's marinara was meh too. So disappointing. The waitress was lovely though.
2656 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965
HEAVEN! A-MAZING! They can do any kind of dietary preference, including low carb, gluten-free, and make any changes you like, with fantastic flexibility, and all served up with such charm and so many delicious smells. Just a delight! Don't even think about not eating here! A coeliac's heaven.
1615 J St, Sacramento, CA 95814
Was so scared to try this place having read dire review to the effect that this place if like Olive Garden but more expensive. In my view this place s nothing like Olive Garden! Our meals tasted fresh and delicious and the atmosphere next to the fire on the heated patio was marvellous. Highly recommended. Gluten-free menu, but don't let that put you off: the food was genuinely delicious, and did not have the feel of prepackaged junk in any way. Fab service too.
9237 Laguna Springs Drive, Elk Grove, CA 95758
Very loud music and stressful environment but if it is really gluten-free their pizza is fabulous.
Suite 100, 9308 Elk Grove Boulevard, Elk Grove, CA 95624
Pizza and curry?? I feared this place would be awful. How very mistaken I was! For a start, the man serving has celiac disease and was totally familiar with the whole gluten-free thing. To my amazement the menu clearly labels all gluten-free options. And the food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS -- real food, and real Indian food at that. Overjoyed to find this place. Don't let the strange combination of pizza and curry put you off: the food is really excellent. Next time I will try their gluten-free pizza. UPDATE: I have now eaten here several more times, and was very surprised to see a bad review here, so I asked the owner about it. He was surprised too, and said: "I have celiac disease. I KNOW about gluten!" Might it have been someone else (an employee?) who advised against eating there if you have celiac disease? It is so very different from my experience of this place. The first time we dined there we really quizzed the owner to check that he does in fact understand, and he really did seem to get it.
9080 Laguna Main Street #1a, Elk Grove, CA 95758
Note that I have not eaten here. When we phoned to ask if they do gluten-free food, they seemed not to know what we were talking about, so I wonder if there has been a change if ownership or something?
7440 Laguna Blvd., Suite 124, Elk Grove, CA 95758
I have had marvellously fresh gluten-free meals here. Such good value.
7727 Laguna Blvd., Elk Grove, CA 95758
No complaints from a gluten perspective, but I definitely wouldn't want to eat here again given how bad and dull the food was. (I had the baked chicken.) My dining companions had soup that seemed as though it might have come out of a packet, and shouldn't the cheese on pasta be Parmesan? What it was instead was something fake tasting. Really pretty dreadful. Even BJs have better pasta (and that is not saying much: I definitely don't recommend BJs!). Sorry not to be more positive.
211 Sutter St, San Francisco, CA 94104
Was charged only $4.70 for my bowl of chicken and guacamole.
8519 Bond Road #100, Elk Grove, CA 95624
No complaints. Fast food. Generous portions. The server was careful to warn me not to have tortilla chips given that they are fried in the same fat as gluten-containing items.
610 First St, Napa, CA 94559
Fresh and delicious, but the portion size was disappointingly small. We ended up here after eating at the other dedicated gluten-free restaurant in the Oxbow. The price for two small plates here was $19.
610 1st St, Napa, CA 94559
Fresh and delicious, but the portion size was disappointingly small. As my husband said, this is a real delicacy but I'd rather have a little less delicacy if that would mean a little more food. We ended up having a second dinner at the other dedicated gluten-free restaurant in the Oxbow. Two small tacos and one glass of wine totalled about $22. Strangely, the portion of wine served here was enormous!
115 Bourbon Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
As a Cordon Bleu chef myself, and one who has eaten at many of the best restaurants in Europe, I am often disappointed when I eat out. But not here! The entree I have just eaten at Red Fish Grill is literally one of the best dishes I have ever eaten in my life, despite the fact that I requested the dish to be made without two of the main ingredients (crab and ham!). The sous chef who created my dish (Hickory Grilled Redfish: Tasso & roasted mushroom Pontalba potatoes, Louisiana jumbo lump crabmeat, lemon butter sauce) was Russell Bittermann, and he also created to order a vegetarian jambalaya (not on the menu) for my dining companion that was apparently absolutely amazing too. Frankly I am astounded that the reviews are not as gushingly positive as mine is. Sure it would be nice if there were more gluten-free desserts on the menu but if you go to New Orleans and fail to fine here for that reason you are insane! That sous chef is a genius, seriously! DO NOT MISS THIS ASTONISHINGLY FABULOUS restaurant! And not only was the food itself spectacularly good, the server, Ike Jackson, is adorable, entertaining and would be worth a visit even if the food were less good. I am over the moon. So so so glad I chose this restaurant. We will definitely be back. OUTSTANDING!
205 Bourbon Street, New Orleans, LA 70112
IMPORTANT NOTE: I have not yet eaten here yet so reserve the right to change my rating later, but they do have a gluten-free menu and the server was lovely.
8111 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, NC 27613
This is quite simply one of the best meals I have had in this area, and actually in USA. Creative, thoughtful, interesting food with several delicious gluten-free options. My four fellow diners including a picky vegetarian were also very pleased with their meals. Absolutely first rate. I HIGHLY recommend Margaux's and only wish I were going to be around to become a regular there. The waiter was lovely too, and as we were leaving he rushed after us to tell us that we had inadvertently double-tipped, as they had already added an 18% gratuity.
2016 Clark Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27605
Lovely waitresses and no problem getting a gluten-free meal at this southern/sandwiches/breakfast cafe. Amazingly good grits. The only reason I am deducting a star is that there were flies, and some of the dishes were too salty (though no more so than i have found in several other local restaurants). Despite the salt issue, I will definitely be returning because the overall experience was good.
8111 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, NC 27613
The best breakfast I have eaten in Raleigh. They cooked my eggs EXACTLY to my specification and more perfectly so than I myself often do. very impressed. No gluten issues. Lovely waitress. When told that the cup of coffee wasn't the freshest she promptly brought a fresh replacement that was good. Will definitely return.
3309 Rogers Road #245, Wake Forest, NC 27587
No issues from a gluten-free perspective, except that there were no gluten-free desserts on the menu, but the reason for my low rating is that they tried to get away with giving me cheap wine instead of the wine I had ordered, presumably assuming that I would not notice that what was in my glass was not the wine I'd be paying for. I wonder how often they do that and get away with it.
7705 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh, NC 27615
Fantastic independent coffee place where they care deeply about the quality of the coffee they serve. [UPDATE: They now have a gluten-free menu, and they have gluten-free bread now too.] [UPDATE 2: just had a FANTASTIC omelette with fresh vegetables -amazingly good!] They had gluten-free cake when I was there last, and they are friendly and the place has a lovely atmosphere.
530 West Lodi Avenue, Lodi, CA 95240
This grocery store has a huge number of gluten-free products and the prices are not bad at all. Very surprised to find this here.
2310 Tienda Drive #200, Lodi, CA 95242
Another excellent Chipotle, where they are friendly and knowledgable.
1440 Hulsey Way, Manteca, CA 95336
Super-friendly and knowledgable staff, FABULOUS food and so inexpensive! This is my favourite Chipotle of all those I have tried. Absolutely marvellous.
2311 Telegraph Ave., Berkeley, CA 94704
The moment I mentioned gluten-free, the server removed his gloves, thoroughly washed his hands and donned new gloves. Very knowledgable and the usual fresh and good food.
145 Lincoln Center, Stockton, CA 95207
Wow! They really do have a huge number of gluten-free products here. It seems as though almost everything in this (small) store is gluten-free. Not really, but it does have at least as many gluten-free products as my local large WholeFoods. Impressive.
1689 Arden Way, Arden B., Sacramento, CA 95815
Not quite what I was looking for but I can't fault the service or the gluten-free menu and price.
8710 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615
They often have interesting tastings and samples that are gluten-free. I just wish they would make it more obvious which items are gluten-free. I had thought this store has fewer GF products than the other local WholeFoods stores but apparently that is not true.
1010 9th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814
Beautiful cafe which has loads of gluten-free sweet delicious cakes and cookies. They were so keen for me to be happy with my coffee that they brought me a second kind of coffee, a freshly made Sumatra Peabody pour-over, which was amazing. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended. Open 6am to 11pm 7 days a week, 365 days a year!
4351 Lassiter at North Hills Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27609
Despite the fact that this place is inconsistent in its brilliance (breakfast eggs were terrible, for example) it remains my favourite restaurant in Raleigh because on a good night, when the right chef is working, it is spectacularly good food cooked to perfection by a classically-trained chef who takes great care and is CREATIVE. They don't just give me a boring meal, they make something gluten-free that is INTERESTING. I love the atmosphere here too. I was just very disappointed with the breakfast/brunch, which this being a brasserie I had expected would be good.
6112 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, NC 27609
The gluten-free bread was the best I have ever eaten. The food was really good, and the staff were lovely. Definitely worth dining there!
3121 Edwards Mill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27612
I must say that I am surprised that people seem to give this place good reviews. Perhaps some folk are just glad to be able to eat at all? I found two if their GF pizzas appallingly bad. How they think being celiac means you will eat absolutely dire food I don't know. The pizza base was TERRIBLE, and the stuff on top was also dreadful. It is perfectly possible to make good gluten-free pizza. There is no excuse for the dross they served us. Sorry! I hate to be so negative but it was BAD.
7713-39 Lead Mine Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615
They took so much trouble to ensure I had a gluten-free meal, and the food was amazingly delicious and fresh. The staff were very friendly too. A wonderful experience.
1813 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27608
Sorry, but this place is dirty and the gluten-free pizza was the worst I have ever eaten. A huge disappointment.
3000 Wake Forest Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609
Lots of gluten-free stuff, often highlighted with a "g" but sometimes not.
775 Ikea Court, West Sacramento, CA 95605
This Chipotle is FANTASTIC! They knew all about "gluten-free" and the food was super fresh and beautifully seasoned. The place is sparkling clean, and I would definitely eat here often if I lived here.
926 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95814
I am in gourmet heaven after eating a truly spectacular gluten-free meal, clearly cooked by actual chefs who care about the food they serve. What particularly thrilled me is the creativity of the dishes they served me. So often gluten-free means devoid of creativity and dull and boring food. Not so at The Grange. They were amazing. The ambiance is also lovely and very suitable for a romantic dinner. If you love real food with originality and verve, as opposed to mindless meals, do try this place. I am so glad we chose this place! The menu changes all the time, they tell me.
36. Saint Michael's Street, Oxford, United Kingdom OX1 2EB
An Indian restaurant at which they take considerable care to provide gluten-free food on request.
6102 Falls of Neuse Rd., Raleigh, NC 27609
When I asked about gluten-free, the manager herself took care of me, and she really did take exceptional care. I was very impressed and will definitely be returning. Very delicious and I expensive food, and it tasted very fresh, like I had made it myself.
